WORK IN OFFICE 2014-2017 selected works
VACLAV HAVEL AIRPORT CMC II stage competition, 3 months, spring 2015- under development SMALL SCALE URBAN PROJECT
The basic concept of the design is to connect to the configuration of the existing terminals, and to close the inner space of the airport complex by creating a “trac circle, clearly defined points of entry and exit. From the pedestrian point of view, the proposal creates a more clear and a safe walking system among existing buildings and added public spaces. The most important urban-transportation elements of the design are the entrance gate - a pair of newly designed buildings of the congress center, the transport circuit ow along the perimeter of the area, the two main pedestrian axes crossing in the center of the area (SKWALK), public areas in front of terminals 1and 2 and Aviatics Square near Aviatic Museum. SKYWALK forms the main urban axis and connects all 4 parts of the area. It is located on the ground level and is covered with a glass pergola. I was a part of this competition since the beginning, preparing analytical research as well as participating in both concept development and preparing the presentation graphics (visualizations, schemes, landscape). Competition was held in 2 stages. Currently project is in the development stage.
Urban - architectural concept • Organization of the airport area using new axes • a new communication circuit linking all features • 4 primary destinations - entrance, T1, T2, aviation museum • inside the circuit - “airport city”
Morphology • new buildings create the atmosphere of the city - streets, square
Main public areas and infosystem • individual public spaces are interconnected • digital information panels are used to guide visitors
Lighting • Lighting is designed in the following categories: - Main street lighting - illumination of attractive elements of public space

KARLIN- HOLESOVICE BRIDGE CMC / W Architecture competition, 3 weeks; summer 2017 MIXED PROJECT The objective of the competition was the preparation of an architectural and structural design for a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists to connect the riverbanks of Karlín, Holešovice and Štvanice island. This design supports a major, citywide connection between city districts, while also providing access to Štvanice island. Currently both banks and the island are connected by ferry. Project was developed in a very short time, and my participation included concept/ form development and preparing final presentation (visualizations, 3d print, 3d model, landscape).
The structure consists of two main supporting arches made of reinforced concrete. The arches are straight at the top. The central part of the bridge consists of a curved beam of pre-stressed concrete. Structure of the bridge is monolithic, situated on a rigid frame into an elegant shape that harmoniously complements the water level. The exposed areas are finished with decorated concrete. The sloping concrete surface is divided for pedestrians and cyclists. LED panels are built in handrails and illuminate bridge at night. Railing of 1.3 m height is made of stainless steel. The filling consists of vertical bars with a pitch of 80 mm. Handrail has a 150 mm wide profile made of durable tropical wood to provide a pleasant tactile feeling. At the widest place bridge has a width of 10m (due to brief requirements) and is split into 2 parts: arch which continues to the other side and smaller arch which goes down to the Stvanice island.
NEW CHYNE SCHOOL professional practice, competition (CMC) 1,5 months; spring 2014 ARCHITECTURE PROJECT One of my first projects at CMC where I had a design inuence was a competition for school at the area near Prague. My participation included preparing siteplan, visualizations, floorplans, sections and elevations. Inspiration for this project was found in water areas and partly in the early history of Chyne, here was found the first prehistoric furnace iron in Bohemia and Moravia. Both of these phenomenas were used to design a new school / community center. Urban design was inuenced by the analogy of the kinetic energy of the stream. The historical importance of iron to the site inspired us to reflect it in the usage of facade materials. A new school and community center were also seen as a continuation of the existing park, the fun and friendly spirit of which we tried to bring to the school grounds and develop in the outdoor spaces and new colorful gardens.

Common spaces are used by both school and community, including auditorium, gym and the library, which are located in the front part near the entrance, which ensures easy orientation, connection to the parking and safe space. Auditorium also has a function of a small gym. Because of phasing requirements we have put swimming pool to the east part of the complex, symbolically closing it, also making it easily accessible by the community and students. Swimming pool has the direct connection to the outdoor sport area.

NEW CENTRUM ARNIKA master thesis (ČVUT) 3 months; spring 2017 ARCHITECTURE PROJECT This diploma thesis deals with the design of a new public multifunctional center in the northern part of a Czech Republic spa city, Marianske Lazne. The area is called “Arnika”, and after demolition of the original apartment block in the second half of the 20th century it has been a question about the architectural solution for this area. After studying analytical backgrounds and concepts of developing city, I came to the decision of the necessity of the features, which will bring life back to the area, and will be accesible for both local people and tourists.

The Arnika complex was supposed to be used as a sanatorium instead of the original demolished building, residential block TepelskĂ˝ dĹŻm-Krym. The proposal was approved by the government and in 1987 an architectural competition for this sanatorium was announced. But over the years, it remained only as the construction site. Now the site serves as a space for occasional performances, summer festivals and other.

Public space concept: ground floor
Historical structure of the city blocks in the center of Mariánské lázně are arranged along the street axes, and a mass of the new centers support these axes from the outside. 2 main axes (in parallel with the main street and Mírové square) divide mass in 4 parts and forms the public space, which offers 3 landscaping typologies “green staircase”, business street and calm courtyard. Supply and service comes from the Main Street, and entrance to the underground parking and technical rooms are in the southern part of the shopping center.
Public space concept: terraces
shopping & congress courtyard
The location of the individual functions in the building is primarily based on logical arrangement with relation to the surroundings and in particular 6 m height difference between the northern and southern parts of the plot. Public part (business and congress center) is oriented to Main Street and Square, the Hotel and spa area of the complex is facing the Main Spa Colonnade. Southern part of the building is open to the park and courtyard and offers retail function.

Architectural solution: Arrangement of individual building functions is based on relation to the surroundings. The public areas and main entrances are oriented to the historic square and park. Shopping and congress parts include a public courtyard and the hotel part offers a private atrium for the visitor. Due to the 6m difference between the north and south parts of the site, green staircase is introduced as a way to get from park to the historic square.
Congress Center: Entrance to the congress center is via the entrance hall at the level above. It includes a reception and offers various conference rooms for various purposes. One of the large spaces opens into the courtyard, with lectures, concerts and various publicly-oriented activities Hotel: The entrance leads to the reception and waiting room, which is connected to the examination (medical) area. Hotel is located in a part oriented to the Main Spa Colonnade and includes three above-ground floors. Rooms vary by size.

Due to the size of the whole structure, I decided to emphasize its various functions using different materials. Hotel: For Hotel and Spa part was chosen a local material trachyt, which visually relates to the surrounding architecture and emphisizes a traditional spa function for the town and which deposit is located 18 km away. Shopping and Congress Center: For this particular project, perforated corten was chosen to underline the function of a new public center in the northern part of Mariánské Lázně. Together with the glass facade it creates a vertical pattern to support the rhythm of the surrounding buildings. Corten color works well with the gray-beige color of trachyt and corresponds to the red roofs of surrounding historic buildings. Fasade Composite Principle: The entrance to the park courtyard is through an open colonnade that repeats the compositional principle of the historical Spa Colonnade, located west of the building. This rhythm is then repeated in both the stone and the perforated corten facade in order to visually connect two different materials. For the colonnade black metal is used, which is then repeated in the double glass facade elements for the Business and Congress Center, and for window frames and other details in Hotel Parts.
LONDON PUBLIC LIBRARY school project (ÄŒVUT) 2,5 months; spring 2016 ARCHITECTURE PROJECT In this studio I was encouraged to do the competition assignment for the new Public Library, located in the very heart of London, next to the Tower Bridge. The new library would be located on a place of the current Potters Fields Park, which is known to be popular among residents and guests of the area. The intention behind the concept was not only to create a library, but also try to preserve the sense of easily accessible public space, adding functions which would be beneficial to the area.

The main feature of this project is it’s steel parametric roof, which connects 2 library volumes (north conventional part and various functions in the south part). It covers public plaza, creating an interesting semi-interior space, which is accessible to the public 24/7, therefore not taking away, but re-thinking previous public function. Roof was designed with the Grasshopper software, based on tension areas and solar analysis.

BUDEJOVICKA school project (ÄŒVUT) 2,5 months; spring 2016 MIXED URBAN PROJECT BudejovickĂĄ is located in the Prague 4 district and plays very important role as a transportation hub - it accommodates metro station, tram and bus stops, which are connecting nearby housing estates with the city center. For this reason it is very important to create a pleasant public space and evoke a potential for various activities. Area lacks the clarity of space, permeability and possibility of movement for the residents of the surrounding neighborhoods, so the foundation of my concept was to create a functional and visual connection for the entire area.

CIRCULATION
To support the green pass, 2 squares were designed in the center of the area: one of them is used for relaxation (contains urban park, cafe) and is oriented towards the green pass (east); second square has the character of a “pocket park” (west) where it is possible to accomodate sports activities and it is oriented towards the school. For the attractiveness and diversity of the site, 2 stone plazas were created perpendicularily to the green pass. North square is designed to support the urban character of the area and offers the possibility to hold cultural and public events. South Square is extended across the road into hospital Budějovická borders, uniting parts of the site.

CREATION OF THE LINEAR PARK
Some parts of the public space are devalued by many parking lots, which significantly reduce the quality of the space, but also could be a potential area for development. Spaces between residential buildings are turned into a “green pass” which will function as a large garden, used not only by the residents, but also by the wider community. Additionaal parking spaces are achieved through new parking houses.

SPORT HUB school project (ČVUT) 3,5 months; fall 2015 ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT Situated in Manhattan, New-York, this plot has a lot of potential. Unlike many other skyscrapers in the area the functional concept of the sportHUB is drastically different from all of them. The purpose was to create a meeting point for the many business people coming to the area - a place for stress relief, relax after a long day of work and teambuilding. Being the 21st century realization of the famous “Downtown Athletic Club“, sportHUB allows a spectrum of experiences in a single place.

MODERN ORIGAMI bachelor project (ARCHIP) 3,5 months; spring 2014 ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT
Kampa Museum is located on the Vltava embankment close to the historical center of the city, having one of the best collections of modern art in Prague. The purpose of this project was to solve the existing circulation and provide a new variable exhibition spaces. Considering Kampa’s placement and spatial quality, it has a great potential to become a new cultural center; thus it’s important to renovate Kampa Museum turning it into a new landmark.

The problem of closeness and isolation was solved by removing stables on the west side, instead creating an arch between the existing part of the muzeum and the new extension, which will draw people to the museum’s territory. Ground floor of the extension is open from all 4 sides- main entrance on the sloped roof is emphasized by its alignment with the Renaissance gate. Sloped roof smoothly unites museum territory and the park around; its bridge part creates a raised platform for temporary/permanent exhibition which can be viewed from the public park.

MOBIUS workshop - winning design followed by the group project (ARCHIP) 1,5 months; spring 2014 ARCHITECTURE PROJECT Base of this project is my original design, later followed by the collaborative work of Archip students and lead by the architect Marie Davidova. The goal of the project was to study the qualities of wood and how it changes with environment interventions. The group of students brought the project to life from the beginning to the end, performing the collaborative work. Nowadays, when sustainability and economy of resources and energy should be minimized, wood as one of the least energy consuming materials was the best entity to work with. Our pavilion was designed to be made of solid wood pieces to test the moisture effects on it. The shape is following the Mobius strip by an uninterrupted movement and can be used as a stage or gathering point. The pavilion was displayed during ReSite architectural festival in the summer 2014 and was placed at Charles Square, Prague.
