The Good Neighbor Mix Tape
1. Belle of the Boulevard by Dashboard Confessional: we chose this song for the main character Rue. The song talks about how life may be tough and you may want to cry but donʼt cry just dry your eyes and keep it to yourself. It works prefectly for the character Rue because even though she has this have it together image, the core of who she is actually what this song talks about. She wants to cry because her mother is gone, her dad is depressed and she feels she doesnʼt fit in. But she canʼt she has to hold emotions back and be strong for others around her because they count on her. 2. Your Betrayal by Bullet For My Valentine: This song was chosen because we felt that it went along with the plot. The Plot is About Rue feeling betrayed by her mother and herself and sets out to find herself and her mother. The song talks about how betrayal effects the person being betrayed. Itʼs a Metalcore song so that also goes along with the plot because itʼs so intense. 3. Black swan by Thom York: We chose this for the mood of the bood of the whole book. Throughout the book Rue is seeing things. She goes in and out of a trance like state seeing the world in between. Basically the this song talks about how life can be messed up. And Rue is feeling like that when she is trying to find her mother and found out who she really is. 4.Just on second by London Elektricity: This song is great for the setting. The song talks about the city and how beautiful it is in the morning air. The setting for thid book is in the city, so itʼs perfect for this song. This song gives you the freash just waking up feel. The song gives The Good Neighbor a neutral ground setting. In the Morning you have this point where the city is just silent. 5. Rise up by True Names: My friend actually wrote and recorded this him self. We chose this song as the point of View. Though this book is a urban fantasy book it still dealing with some life stuff. Thatʼs why we chose it because the point of view is Life in general. Rue is going through some real life dealing with her mother walking out on her, not feeling like she fits in. So it just a great life song.
