Two lipsticks. Same color, shape, and size. What is the difference then?
On the surface, department store cosmetics look the same as its drugstore counterpart but cost several times more.
Why?
Department store makeups use higher quality base ingredients. This enables products to: • • • • • • •
glide on more smoothly last longer crack less often act gently on skin treat acne increase firmness conceal wrinkles
Color options are also much more limited at stores like Walmart, making it difficult for women to find the perfect shade that matches their skin tone.
Better pigments doesn’t necessarily guarantee that the $35 lipstick will work seven times better than the $5 lipstick. In fact, most of the extra $30 is the price of better customer service and an enhanced shopping experience. The beauty section at department stores is basically a haven for ladies looking for a whole lot of pampering— and maybe a designer brand eyeshadow to take home as a souvenir.
They are s a life
The high price of department store cosmetics also contributes to the prestige that comes with owning designer makeup. Brands like Chanel, Givenchy, or Dior are not merely selling cosmetics.
y selling festyle.
So, are the expensive products really worth it?
