Ft. building including 4,340.7 sq. ft. nightclub and 551.27 sq. ft. liquor store, into a new 4,526.17 sq. ft. ‘Burgers and Beer’ restaurant venue with a full kitchen and maintaining the liquor store at a reduced size of 365.83 sq. ft. Reframe roof and second floor walls, relocate interior stairway. Add roof canopy over outdoor bar. No addional footage will be added and 50% of exterior walls will be maintained.

Competition 9,612 SF/ VISITOR CENTER 2020 Conceptural

The site is located at the popular tourist spot Al wathba wetland attracting thousands of people who come to visit the spot observing flamingo. Creating a pleasant and joyful space for people to stay as well as present local culture is the main mission for architects. Also, considering the extreme weather in UAE, the efficiency of energy use and sustainability design is worth considering.

1. Using wide spread footing as the foundation could reduce the site disturb as well as provide enough support on the sandy soil type on this lot.

4. Palm wood as main structure material for roof.

2. All the exterior wall will employ prefabricated concrete block as mainly structure.

5. High reflection glass material wrapping around whole building.

3. Planting area are dedigned to locate at roof draing spot to clollecting rain water.

6. Additional future shading for parking as well as consistant with main building design.

1. Put the main body of building to the south while pushing the parking to the north to corporate the existing context and maintain the best view to observe flamingo.

2. Solid space at the west and open space at the east. Turn the building slightly to the east to provide better view, and make the shading strategy more efficient.

3. The relatively bigger space which is the learning space will be put at the north and have a higher ceiling. A visual tunnel is created to help introducing view to the visitors get into the space.

4. A higher roof above the courtyard to offer extra shading to the space. High ceiling help ventilating the hot air and take advantage of air convention from the north and the south.
