Fine Art Skill -

Face from memory

-

We were asked to drew portrait from memory, without looking into picture.

-

It was difficult for us not having any resources, we tend to generalized the face into common looking instead of the people we were thinking at the beginning. Out tutor mentioned a very important point during the practice is that art isn’t making something comfortable for us looking into it, it’s about how to successfully represent our thought through out work, therefore, we should not feel uncomfortable if the face we drew looks different.

Upside down drawing

-

The following practice for us is to draw a face upside down

-

Some of my classmate were not happy with the final result, because it doesn’t look any like from the photo, I figured out a better way to finish the drawing with more satisfy result, which is divided my paper and photo in to 4 quadrats, instead of looking it into a face but try to think of them as geometric shape.

We were asked to close our eyes while finishing this work

-

Out tutor anted us to understand how to represent texture by just touching our own face, how soft is out skin those harsh line from bones. I fond it easier if I drew and touched at the same time, my left hand can guild my right hand into right position while drawing.
