April 2017 edition

Last Words From Rheanna On January 9th 2016 you elected me to be your Lieutenant Governor. You trusted me to lead and represent Division 33 for the 2016-2017 service year, and for that I want to say - THANK YOU. Going into this position I was honestly very nervous, especially following in the footsteps of such amazing past Lt.Gs. This year we took Division 33 to new heights and it wouldn’t have been possible without the spirit of the members, the leadership of the officers, and the guidance of the advisors. Each and everyone of you plays a pivotal role in the growth of not only our division but the entirety of Key Club International. Whether it was attending a DCM or giving a member a ride home or staying after school for hours to plan an event, know that any act, big or small, creates a lasting impact. And that is what motivated me throughout the past year and what continues to inspire me day to day. Throughout my four years in this organization, I have seen the unique atmosphere through many different lenses. There’s the member’s perspective where everything is new and you have a continuous feeling of anticipation. The feeling of counting down the days till the next District Project event or finally being reunited with a friend from a far away division. Then there’s the officer’s perspective where you get to visit the leadership side of Key Club. They get to experience the planning, organizing of meetings, and working together as an officer board. As Lieutenant Governor I got the opportunity to view through a lens that was very different from these. A role that consisted of individual work and long weeks where so many events would drain all the energy I has left. But through the stressful days I got to see the excitement that radiated off of each member. Whether is be throwing a plate full of whipped cream at my face, or realizing you lost your voice after a fearsome spirit battle. The amount of dedication and time one puts into this organization is something special, and something you can’t find anywhere else. I invite you to take this idea with you even after your Key Club career and after you graduate. Even if you don’t continue with the Kiwanis Family, continue to be the catalyst for energy. I want to end off by saying thank you to certain individuals who impacted not only me but the entire division this past service year. To the officers - thank you for being such amazing leaders for your home clubs and stepping up to take on these essential positions. To the advisors - thank you for being patient and supporting us throughout every long day and night. To our Area Admin Sue Owens and our sister division Lt.G Ashley - thank you for inspiring me each day with your dedication to this organization. I loved working and connecting with both of you throughout this term and I’m excited to see you achieve even greater things in this upcoming year. To the Divisional Board- thank you for being supportive whether is be printing out documents last minute or taking hundreds of pictures at events. And finally to the members - thank you for maintaining such unbelievable spirit and continuing to inspire me day to day. I love you all so much and with that being said I wish you all good luck in this new year. Remember to stay kraken Division 33! In love and service, Rheanna Borromeo Immediate Past Lt.G

I want to start off with thanking each and every one of you for allowing me to have such an amazing opportunity to lead such a great division. We have done so much together, through tough and easy times. I cannot wait to branch off into more service and leadership events as we progress through the year! A little about myself, I am currently a junior at Todd Beamer High School and I am a running start student that goes to Green River Community College (it has a cool campus!). I hope we, as a division, is able to grow together in leadership, service, and membership this year! I hope to achieve as much as the past Lt. Governors have and fill in their footsteps to bettering our community. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns (or you just want to talk) do not be afraid to contact me, I would love to get to know all of you! Stay kute krakens~ In love and service, Yuri Yi Lieutenant Governor of Division 33 PNW District Key Club International E : v.yuri.yi@gmail.com | P : (253)391-3408

DIVISIONAL GOALS - Growing in service This year, I want to focus on one of the emphasis in Key Club, service. I plan to have more service projects towards bettering the community as well as helping towards our district project.

- Unity and bonds I also want to focus on our membership growth and keeping our division together like a family. I plan to do this by starting early on getting dues turned in and advertising not only at my home club but stretch it beyond to other clubs as well and multiple social media sites/apps.

- Stronger relationships I want to push members as well as officers to keep in contact with their Kiwanis clubs. I would love to see more interaction between our sponsoring Kiwanis clubs and Key Club, to benefit each other through service throughout the year. I want to see members attending their corresponding Kiwanis DCMs and to meet and hopefully befriend our K-family members.

Your 2017 - 2018 Hello, PNW! My name is Dmitri Saberi, and I am so honored and excited to be serving as your 2017-2018 District Governor. Key Club is an organization that is not just capable of creating incredible opportunities- it is capable of changing lives. I have definitely had a life-changing three years of service, and am looking forward to another amazing year! Through my experience as a member, Lieutenant Governor, and now, a District Governor, I have gotten the opportunity to see Key Club from several different angles. What all those perspectives had in common was their focus: making a positive impact on those around us. My core plan as District Governor is centered around that, and I hope that we can create that impact as a District this year. But throughout my term, please keep in my mind that I am also a member just like you. Never hesitate to shoot me a text, email, or message with questions, concerns, or if you just want to talk! I am always here for you all, and one of the most rewarding parts of Key Club for me is connecting with you guys. Thanks so much, and I look forward to seeing you, talking to you, and working with you throughout the year! In love and service, Dmitri Saberi District Governor Pacific Northwest District Key Club International Email: governor@pnwkeyclub.org Phone: (509) 715-7475 Hello hello, PNW! My name is Ashley Villanueva and I am both humbled and honored to be serving as your District Secretary for the 2017-2018 service year. Key Club has given hundreds of thousands of high schoolers across the globe the opportunity to be a part of a something much greater than they thought—the largest student-led service organization in the world. Because of this, we have all been impacted through the power of service. And this is what motivates me to not only serve you as a District Board member, but to connect, assist, and relate to you in any way possible! As I am entering my last year in Key Club, I hope to utilize my past experiences as club vice president and lieutenant governor, to the best of my ability while serving as District Secretary by increasing the bonds, communication, and voices heard around the district, while simultaneously being the support system to secretaries and ultimately the members. It may seem daunting to think about the “Executive Board” and the hierarchy of Key Club, but honestly, no title or position will define how we are all a part of the 270,000+ members in Key Club International. Keeping this in mind, you will hear or see this a lot by supposed “higher-ups”, but we really do mean it when we say to not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. Reach me through text, email, social media, or snail mail! Thank you for reading! I look forward to working with the rest of the District Board to ensure that you have a fun and successful service year. Executive Board Hello PNW District Key Clubbers! My name is Brian Nguyen and I am thrilled to be serving as your District Treasurer for the 2017-2018 Key Club term. I can’t wait to connect with all of you and bring our district to greater heights! Some of my goals for this term is to continue serving our communities and increase communication with you, the members, to ensure financial transparency. I hope to educate and update you all through my quarterly Treasurer Snapshots, which will have information that will help you increase your club’s financial success. This will be my fourth and final year in Key Club. Before serving as District Treasurer, I was honored to have the opportunity to serve as a Lieutenant Governor and Divisional Executive Assistant. The most important thing I’ve learned during my Key Club journey is that the members are the core of our district, and assisting you in any way possible will continue to keep us as the Pacific NorthBEST! If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to talk, feel free to contact me at any time. In the end, I’m just another Key Clubber who’s eager to serve the community and meet new people! I can't wait give the attention and publicity that the Espresso deserves, and I hope you are just as excited.
