Every now and then, it always seems less challenging to put aside a new idea or undertaking when it looks difficult than to dedicate time to master it, as over time, we kind of grow into our own routines. You should then ask yourself if it is important for you to learn a new skill.

That is where your values of curiosity and desire should come into play. Why am I doing it for? Is learning this new skill imposed? If yes, then you may find reasons to procrastinate because of lack of discipline but learning a new skill should be fun, right?

Think about it this way, accomplished people know that constant learning is one of the most essential parts of their success. As a result, they use a distinctive method to acquire the full advantage from becoming skilled at a new idea or skill. These unique ways show you how your mind will link and merge any other piece of data to associate the information received into what has been previously picked up. Here are a few of the ways that successful people learn new skills:

Challenging Your Old Ideas First, you need to have a pen and paper beside you at all time. You should highlight or even better, handwrite the notes that give you a stronger understanding of the concepts than tapping them on a computer. It imprints them into your memory. Remember school. Make also an effort to familiarize yourself with new thoughts by selecting resources that challenge your long-standing ideas.

Reading or Listening I meditate each morning and finish my evening by reading. Like Bill gates and many others, I try to read a book a week. But maybe you would rather listen to a podcast or audio book. Everywhere you go or anywhere you wait, you should listen to something beneficial. Forget playing games and check your social media only twice a day at the same time, no more.

Learning a New skill Learning a new skill like has, for most people, always been fun, but not for everyone. If I give you ten short stories of 100 words each and a story of 1000 words, which one would be easier for you to memorize? Yes, you are right, the first one. Most of us learn well and also quicker by grasping bits and pieces of information.

Studying a Different Language Studying a different language is a great way to expand your horizon. You can learn by speaking with native individuals. Read out loud. Try to write letters with the words you know. Have flashcards or ‘postits’ displayed everywhere in your apartment. In difficult days, you may learn 10-30 minutes instead of an hour a day, and then add time each week. You might also study with other people.

Getting a Course or Mentorship All successful people solicit help from field experts to widen their knowledge. You could return to school or evening class to learn something new. This way, you can get the most out of your particular learning potential. You could pursue a specialization or get avenues in a new career with a mentor.

Having New Experiences If you want to have more success in your life, you need to encounter new experiences that will help you reinforce your brain's networks. You need to keep going no matter what, even when mastery becomes a struggle. Jump with both feet into subjects and branches of learning that are outside of your comfort zone. It may sometime feel annoying, even odd but by doing so; it will provide you with remarkable learning experiences.

Asking and Seeking You need to get the most value and profit out of learning a new skill, so protect your time carefully as do all effective

people. Challenge yourself by examining your new skill and ask "What have I just learned?" But if you feel like it is insufficient, then ask further questions and seek new answers. Learning a language was easy for me until the 5 th one, the last one: German. I wasn’t too crazy about the language but as I live in a Germanic country, I had to learn it. I felt like it was imposed on me. On the beginning, I procrastinated a lot, not wanting to learn. I tried “Duo Lingo” but I stopped after a month. English is an easy and fun language to learn, but German was and still a grammatical difficulty for me. My breakthrough came in when I started reading short stories in children’s books, and that is where I picked up on words. In reality, it will be impossible to know everything there is to know. The more experienced and mature you become in life, the more you understand this. In any case, you can improve yourself by being open minded and trying to learn new skills, you will surely be wiser tomorrow than you are today.
