Most often, you assume that living with no fear is being brave, forgetting that it is an unavoidable and common denominator you have as human being. Your mind generates this defense mechanism to shield you from any physical dangers. However, it also holds you back and limits you.

The Need to Face Fear All of us start out in a very ordinary way but what defines successful people is that they accomplish their goals through a mixture of determination, hard work, belief, willpower and deeds. They always have the end goal in mind knowing full well that they will succeed no matter the circumstances.

To reach this type of mindset, you have to challenge yourself and get in places where you will come across these fears of failure by facing them head on. You may say ‘It is easier said than done’, I agree but the sooner you realize that there will be failures and mistakes, the sooner you won’t take them as such. Instead you will take them as learning curves and move forward.

Facing the fear of failure is an awkward thing, because our brain generates this natural defense mechanism we acquired thousands of years ago, in the stone ages, to protect ourselves from predators. However, still today, it activates an unconscious shield when we want to do something outside of our common ground. The tricky part is that our defense mechanism is corrupted in not knowing exactly how to set apart real danger and presented risks.

Action and Inaction is a Choice In both, life and work, there are failures caused by actions and inactions. You can choose to make mistakes in building your business, in starting a new relationship, in taking a venture and you can fail, but know that the only real failure is the one you do not learn from.

Any successful entrepreneur knows that the wrong thing to do would be to not push limits. They would slowly die if they didn’t. They are progressing because they get a momentum by building, taking risks, and always trying. You can learn so much more from failure than success. You should see your failures as an essential step toward success and not as a way of thinking that your ideas are hopeless.

Accounts of the past tell of successful people which have failed much more than you or me, because they were people who tried more than others. Among these, Thomas Edison created more than a thousand patents that never made it; Pablo Picasso painted over 20,000 art pieces to obtain a few chefs-d'oeuvre, etc. The same thing has yet happened with today successful entrepreneurs. Verify this on your own. These top failures show you that if you don’t succeed right away, it is simply because you are not failing enough.

The Fear of Failure Becomes the Greatest Regrets What is it exactly that you fear? What is the worst that could happen? One more fear of failure is to focus on the size of the challenge. Yet, while you are indecisive, hundreds of people are creating their dreams every year. Many of these people have very little training or have technical abilities, but the difference is that these ordinary individuals have begun building their dreams and goals.

While you tremble at the fear of disappointment, at the pain of failing or at getting rejected by who knows what, others started to climb the mountain, learning to embrace any fear of failure on their way to the top, but also with the conviction to make a step towards success each day.

Someday, when you will reflect on your greatest regrets, you will wish you could go back, change what you did and have taken the risks. When asked, people of all kind and of every walk of life say to regret not having taken risks or done things they thought about doing earlier in life. Start making small steps and soon you will gather momentum, and then you will begin getting nearer your goal.
