Overcoming fear to succeed is one of the hardest things to do for most people in this world. The fear of failure is so deeply anchored in our subconscious mind that our first reaction is to run away from it. Is self-doubt stopping you from pursuing your desires? Are you dealing with self-defeating thoughts? Is the fear of failure leaving you at a standstill and unsatisfied with your life? “Failure is the foundation of success, and the means by which it is achieved.” — Lao Tzu Well I have news for you! You should know that taking actions towards a dream and to become financially independent is much more achievable than winning the lottery. What I mean by that is that statistically you are more likely to win an Oscar than the lottery jackpot.
The Hell with Procrastination Two and a half years ago, I started to work for a sightseeing tour company in Vienna, Austria as a customer sales representative. Most of the time, I enjoyed my job, but as a marginal, I craved for my burning desire of a way out of the boring routine to have a life on my own terms.

Days passed by, then months, I knew what I had to do, I had a plan in my head and on paper, but I wasn’t really acting on it. I kept putting things to a later date thinking that this wasn’t the right time to act. I was procrastinating. Nowadays, people make excuses for everything: “I’m too busy”, “I don’t have the money” or I don’t want to fail”. Then one evening, in a book written by Napoleon Hill, “Think and Grow Rich”, I found my answer, he said this: “Do not wait, the time will never be ‘just right’…” This quote hit me like a ton of bricks, right to the core. It was what I needed. Finally, I made a decision to realize my dream and took a stab at creating my own business online. At the same time, I had been seeing and hearing frequently about a forever abomination – animal abuse.
Overcoming Fear to Succeed It was something that I heard and had gone my whole life, even today, and it is something that is literally happening every day. I knew I couldn’t just turn my head the other way. An idea came into my mind; if I was to work as an online entrepreneur, coach and consultant, I would donate 10% of my revenue towards rescue for abused horses, dogs and cats. I got so so excited to begin. A few weeks later, doubt started to creep in. I thought to myself “What if I fail?” “I have no one or nothing else to fall back on” “Am I strong enough for all of this?” One night, I remembered why friends or acquaintances are calling me “Iceman”, even if I spent most of my life as more of a “Lone wolf”, I understood suddenly what they meant. I was someone who showed very little emotion or fear in the face of danger, death, or extreme pain. And then a phrase changed my all perspective about overcoming fear to succeed. In a beautiful bold script, the text read… “Winners don’t wait for chances, they take them.” I then realized that I was on the right path and that overcoming fear and selfdoubt in order to succeed was my only option. I told myself there and then that I was going to be around mentors and people who knew way more than I did for at least six months to a year. I just knew that if I thought for a moment that I know it all, it would be the moment that I would self-sabotage a good thing I have got going.

The Sleepwalking Feeling Many entrepreneurs are so familiar with this, as it is not always easy. To build a business, I work 12-15 hours a day to the late hours of the night. It is strenuous and requires a lot of self-discipline, and it doesn’t get easier because dreams necessitate work. Now, a few months after my launch, I felt and still feel like I am sleepwalking at times, yes, but as an avid and passionate sleepwalker.

I trust my gut instinct to the fullest. Because I know deep down that this is my life’s purpose.
Saying No to Fear Each day, I stand by my word and keep telling myself “Keep on going” rejecting fear. Permanent excuses will come, but know that fear shouldn’t be a shackle holding you back. Don’t let the feeling of fear paralyze you; close your eyes, then imagine and see yourself already where you want to be. Just as life has its ups and downs, enthusiasm and fright comes along with taking a risk. Fear is only a natural thing in the world we live in. So don’t be scared! Jump out of that fear rocket into the world of your dreams.
Faking It until Making It Remember that you are your own worst enemy. Like I do, and like so many other risk takers do: fake it until you make it. You can write an advantage list without the disadvantages, and then focus only on them. Put some images of your dream and the steps how to get there on the wall and remind yourself that is why you are doing it. Now, I can honestly say that overcoming fear to succeed has been worth it. The path to make your dream a reality is never the most linear one. There is no easy formula for overcoming fear to succeed and turn your dream into a risk, but when you begin to grow weary, go back to the beginning – the reason why you started. Hustle hard, trust in your capacities, seek out help, and don’t you dare give up.
