In this world, there are many beautiful things to see and experience. Sometimes I use my imagination to seek peace, and sometimes I use it to create art.

My name is Yuti Lee. It is a pleasure to share my works with you. I hope you enjoy my portfolio.

My Planet (July 2022)

The girl with her arms wide open is me. The green part is my planet. I enjoy reading and gardening, and the curly line represents a telephone cord, as I love to keep in touch with loved ones.

A Series of 'The Very Odd Creatures' I (Nov. 2021)

These individual creatures were constructed using irregular shapes. I intuitively cut the paper into shapes and glued them together on the paper.

The process

Chalkboard paint was the main material I used for the collage works.

I was inspired by the texture that was printed in black and white. It shows the relationship between tenderness and toughness, and it makes my collage works more vivid.

I usually make quick sketches when I have new ideas, and these become my next artwork.

Some pictures from the process

Children's Book

- The Lazy Town (2019) - 24 pages

The book is about the lazy people living in a town called Lazy Town. It conveys the idea that people today are overly reliant on technology/ smart phones.

(Description from left to right)

- They didn't have to meet their friends in person, as they used facetime instead.

- Also, they didn't need to go to the mailbox to get the newspaper, as they used a 'technological catcher' instead.

- They used the same machine to harvest crops.

...

Grocery Robot

People in this town were too lazy to go shopping as well. They would send grocery robots into town on errands.

Here are some of the robots' abilities:

1. In order to avoid heavy traffic, they can fly.

2. They can carry more goods than you can even imagine.

3. They are good at navigating.

One day, an ice-cream van passed through the town. Everybody suddenly stopped being lazy and gathered together in the town centre.

Finally, sweetness brought them together again.

A Green-based Shelter (May 2022)

Collage is my favourite art form. I am fascinated by the combination of diverse elements, so I attempted to use other techniques to create different textures.

The main material I used for creating the Green-based Shelter was crepe paper. I attempted to spray water on the surface of the paper, then cut it into pieces when it was dry.

Some Human Figures

(2021)

I drew the figures with charcoal pencil on paper first, then did the colouring using digital painting.

- I usually use hard and soft charcoal pencils for sketching.

For me, the process of observation is crucial for sketching. Gardening is my favourite pastime, and I was inspired by the way plants grow through the different seasons.

What do I do at my desk?

Due to the pandemic, I spent most of my time at home, so I decided to make a series of 'What do I do at my desk' drawings in my sketchbook.

Reading and drawing were the main activities I liked to do when I was bored.

I was trying to catch some z's when I felt depressed about the world.

Writing a letter to someone I was missing.

Thinking how to be productive for the day.
Eating is essential.
- Softwares I used for the digital creation: Photoshop, Clip Studio and Illustrator.

A Series of The House (2019)

I am fascinated with modern buildings. Buildings which feature extraordinary structures and bold composition are especially appealing to me.

The concept

As the village is located near a waterfall and a mountain, I decided to draw the human figure, holding the binoculars as a way of expressing curiosity about this village hiding behind the mountain.

The

process I also made textured paper for the mountains. The materials I used: Charcoal powder, acrylic paint and digital painting
Poster for annual Art Festival (2018)
Invitation card for fine art graduation show (2020)

2022 Calendar

The materials I used: Pencils and digital painting

After a year keeping plants in my room, I realised that they sometimes have bad moods and good moods, just like people. So, I decided to make a 'plant moods' series for this calendar project.

The way they grow depends on their mood.
