1.0 Three Relationship 1.1 Point/Line/Plane 1.2 Mass 1.3 Frame & Infill
1.1 Point/ Line/ Plane 1. William Barak Apartment by Ashton Raggat McDougall The fabulous exertions of irregular lines form the unique landmark building in Swanston Street. 2. The roof of Chinese traditional palace, layer by layer structure of tile 3. The gates of Fushimi Inari-taisha The corridor is constituted by the bighting red columns, it follow the parallel order build up the pathway to the shrine. Three precedents show at the right sides, present a relationship of the P/L/P, the combination of levels form a continuous structure by line, plane.

project start from lines create a re plane, square plane constitute a odel at the end.
1.2 Mass Po Mo Li Jiang by Guanzhong Wu The topic of mass let me to associate with Chinese ink-painting, use the ink to overspread whole paper to create the abstract concept of mountains.
In the section, I represent the unknown area hidden behind the open space. The break point has numerous branches dig into deep side, referenced the abstract expression, likes river branch to different side and gathering at one point again. The shadow in the branches also transform from light to dark, as deeper area has darker shade. The painting inspire me the idea of the final project, as the road to the unknown, what’s kind of secret hidden at the end of the branches?
1.3 Frame & Infill 1. Watchtowers by Uitkijktoren in the Netherlands 2. 100 11th Avenue by Jean Nouvel in New York 3. The House of Ceder by Suga Atelier in Osaka. The iron, timber-framed house at right looks like the unfinished blueprint for a Mondrian painting, appear as incomplete, that’s how it was intended.

3. The House of Ceder
In my design, use the Mondrian painting style to produce an irregular polygon outline as trapezium shape, and add different sizes of rectangles to decorate and enrich the frame, became an attractive geometry structure. The roof is designed to a wavy form, steps up and down. The interior is filled by the soft cotton, seems like clouds hanging in air, anti the gravity, which build a foggy environment to hidden secret, also create the mystery atmosphere for the model. In this project, I try to uses two different materials as solid material and soft material, they conflict and combine with each others in harmonious way.
2.0 Herring Island 2.1 Site Analysis 2.2 Conceptacle and Sketch Design 2.3 Design Development 2.4 Final Design Drawing 2.5 Final Design Model .....Herring Island is a man-made island, it originally used as a dumping ground to silt dredged, and also trees were planted to consolidate the island.......

2.1 Site Analysis Site Chosen at the Southeast corner of the island. As build a pavilion at here, don’t need to remove any existed artwork on the island, and combine with them harmoniously. Pavilion is covered by the trees nearby, plants help us to build up a secret atmosphere naturally. The site near to the entry point, the pavilion will catch visitor’s attention when visitors boat at the access point. Attracting them to come here to reveal a secret underground The exited pathway is convenient for visitor to walk to the pavilion straight forward. The pavilion near to the water feature, people can view the Yarra river by standing at the pavilion.
2.2 Conceptacle For the combination of techtonics, I extracted the most special part from my P/L/P and frame & infill projects, focused on the cloning idea of produce same shape of building to play on its size and bridging cross the area in shape of geometric structure. Combine them together to produce a new idea of secret. People can pass through the door way to the terminal point of the secret.
Hillside home
Concrete School
2.3 Design Development and Sketch Design By searching the similarly theme precedents. I found some interesting point that inspired by Concrete School by Elisa Valero Ramos, and hillside home, as buildings blend into the ground and it’s enclosed structure can construct a atmosphere of secret and mystery, as the example show at the left side.
2.3 Design Development Sketch Design My idea of secret start with a maze, as I thought maze its the most safest place to hidden a secret, I produced a several building to connect with each others, yet I found it hard to build out and looks mess. I separated the buildings, became a journey lead to the secret, later I extracted the P/L/P idea of cloning, played different size base an a same building, and try to create several bridge to connect each sections, however, I find it looks complicated and not relevant to the secret, there are no place to hide secret. I developing the underground section, set the secret at the middle of the pavilion and hide it at the underground. Remain the idea of ‘journey to the secret’. Furthermore, rebuild the underground part, as 4 sides step down together to the underground became the 3 side step down first, and then pave a narrow stairs, people can walk into the underground section. At the end, I produced the open archway, not a enclosed building. It has the fluent outlook that change the direction easily and naturally, and create a undulant roof that inspired by my Frame and Infill design idea rather than the bridge. It work as a cover to produce more interesting shade of the pavilion and attract people’s attention.

named as ‘ , it represents about the journey of life, as a baby company with families, however, times gone, people pass away, your family and eft from you. At the end, you entry in the door behind the death, what’s kind of place beWhat’s the secret about it? Its a place of heaven, hell? Or just nothing, as we born as a nathe world, leave with nothing.
g the idea of the ‘secret behind death’, I produce a plenty of arches to form a archway to the secret hidden underground. One arch represent years, when years passed, arch ber and narrow, the door wide of underground part only allow one people to enter in. The sehe last door at underground, its design to a empty and enclosed room, as different people n opinion of their life after death. Christian will thought the secret behind death is a place of istic will thought death concept its nothing, you cannot bring anything when you dead, bevanish in the air.
d above the glass represent the public, others, your children and people still live in the the door way became narrow only one people can entry in the underground part which secret can be revealed only by yourself. People stand at the glass just watching you to walk et, ‘living people use their imagination to think of the secret, they never knows, untill they ‘death’.
3.1 Final Design Drawing Elevation The undulant top set up on the area, as a frame cover the whole area. The high wave top attracts people to the pavilion that reveal the secret hidden underneath. The gates blend into the ground, people can walk into the deep side by following the archway.

3.1 Final Design Drawing Floor plan Otherwise, people can create their own journey to the ‘secret’, walk through the archway freely without order, as different people will experience different life journey, if they don’t want be limited in the social rule and parent’s expectation. People can get rid of the rules band on them and release their soul to chase the freedom. However, no one can change the destiny of death, the black underground section, you must follow the arches to the end of the secret.
3.1 Final Design Drawing Section The usage of material chose the black, smooth marble to build the archway, looks more mystery in visual, the level of steps cover by the gray concrete bricks. The black contrast with gray harmoniously, the wavy top chose the red oak to build a quality structure. Also, I build up a drainage system, as water pipe at the two side of the underground section, get off the rainwater at underneath to the river.

4.0 Reflection
Earth subject as a journey I taken, same as the final model I made. Start from the P/L/P with the idea of cloning, which help me to create different size arches build on the ground, mass thinking about the underground section, the journey to the unknown, frame and infill the theme to infill my idea and frame out the outside structure. The final model is the journey, start from rudiment topic entry, through the winding thinking pathway, finally get the idea hidden at the end. It also is a gift, I design the gift to myself with self improvement The blog exercise engage me to searching for precedent open up my horizon of design ideas. Model making project as a process to arrange a spatial thinking, the way to combine the 3 techtonics, engage me to create a model with spatial consideration, to combine the above, on, under section in harmonious way. Furthermore, improve the analysis ability of the site, practice my crafting skills and re-practice the ability the function of Photoshop, also every weeks, get feedback from tutor, communication with peers evoke the new ideas of project.
