INTRO The Cult of the Road brand came into existence roughl a year back and even we can’t believe how quickly time runs when you do what you truly enjoy. It doesn’t really matter what you do, the important thing is to continuously feel the joy as strongly as the day when you fell in love whatever you love doing. Yes, if we think back a little, we recall some problem and moments when everything felt like it would fall in vain. That said, walking a path is not joyful unless the path is twisty and no downhill rush is joyful unless the hill is climbed. The catalog which you’re about to read stands at the very end of our endeavour. From all the individual shirt artworks, each of which means something to us and tells its own story, which we might tell you some other time...over the production, which is never easy, because getting finances means trying to sell good from previous collections. Those of you who know us personally know that this part is, paradoxically, the least pleasurable for us...right up till the sweet end, when the clothes finally get

spread out into the world and it is our delightful obligation to capture these moments on paper. Cult of the Road isn’t just about clothes. The thing which we strive for and what is at the same time our dream is to have great times with our friends and people who support us and to experience wonderful things with these people. Cult of the Road gives us a reason to try get further than we’ve ever been. We’re extremely glad that we’ve managed to do that over the course of the year. It was an amazing ride, full of laughter, fun, adrenaline, beautiful machines and equally beautiful people and amazing place, place where we probably otherwise never would have gotten to. This whole path would have absolutely zero sense if we were to walk it alone. We’d like to thank all the people for what they’ve done for not only Cult of the Road, but also for us personally. On the following pages you shall learn about those people. This catalog is dedicated to them. yVANs

The COTR Cross is for those of you who keep it real, who don’t care about brands or style, but still support what we all love and believe in.

GREASY TEE- WHITE From a great distance a massive dark thunder is heard. Those are thin bony fingers slapping the strings of a bass as black as night. Rumbling a 55‘ Buick being revved up to the max. This thunder, just like the Greasy shirt, is dedicated to all lovers of rock’n’roll and to every rebel without cause.

JACKNIFE TEE Raise on the street, with a rusty razor in the back pocket, holding a broken smoke in the corner of the mouth, always up for shady shenanigans. Whenever a chicken gets stolen, everyone knows who did it. Whenever someone snatches a bottle or two from the neighboring town’s liquor store, it’s obvious who did it. That guy would grow up to swing from the gallows and everyone knew it. You don’t have to tread the slippery slope to appreciate the lightness some stride it.

ND ENNDIE What some people think makes us strange or weird or fucked up, we think is what makes us beautiful.” In Suicide Girls we stand for the idea of redefined beauty. That’s what I want to show in every single one of my pictures. There’s nothing more beautiful in this world than natural beauty. Because only when you do things from deep within your soul they turn out to be beautiful. That’s how I found myself in love with modelling. Being a model for Cult of the Road is always an amazing experience because there’s this huge idea behind the brand, and ideas are what matters the most.

KUBSOV At my age skateboarding is solely about fun with the Fuzz gang and a great way to escape the stress of today’s world, where everybody only cares about the size of their salary, the size of their dwelling, the top speed of their car, lowering their gold handicap and things like that. It’s a type of fun where I can totally chill out and just ride away. It’s enough for me to go cruising the roads by myself and I instantly cheer myself up. In conclusion, I’d like to thank Bára, my family and my friends. Thank you!

LENA SRNCOVA It doesn’t matter what I do but how I feel when doing it. Surfing and Bali have taught me to live my life, not just try surviving it. Not waiting for the perfect timing, not waiting for a career and financially securing my family. The perfect timing is now and it’s right here. It will never come back again and I want to enjoy it. All you need is love.

SLANING LIZARD I fear war, I hope ours is the generation that will avoid it. Just thinking about living in a war-torn city, being uncertain of whatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s happening to my family and surviving with little to no food horrifies me. Breaking one or both of my arms terrifies me just as well, the pain, the doctors, the nerve-wracking itching under the cast... Both of these would be hell on earth for me, because I wouldnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t be able to paint.

NIKKI Being a free spirit, is a way of life carved from unconventional living that inspires wonder, imagination, and action. As a child I trained in circus arts, as an adult I worked in sales, start ups, and corporate America, then gave it all away to go back to my roots and follow my dreams to travel the world, work closely with plant medicines, write a book, and then turned 15 years of yoga practice into being a teacher of yoga, handstands, and healthy lifestyle living. I am a vegetarian, an adventure active life-stylist, I run, hike, surf, dance, jiu jitsu, hand balance. I believe that helping people and connecting with people, places, and experiences is the flesh of life. Cult of the Road represents the no fear attitude it takes to deviate from the masses and live free despite the odds, and uncertainties. Nothing is guaranteed in life, sometime you have to choke out the fears to live the the dreams that burn inside. Dedicate yourself to you what you love, and the road will take you as far as your willing to go. Follow your heart not the crowd.

MATEJ CERNY Have you ever thought what does happiness mean to you? For me happiness is when I wake up at 5 am, there is still twilight but the sun is already coming up. I drive my motorbike down the beach with my surfboard while I am still kind of sleeping. The sunrise is reflecting in the water of the rice fields and when I finally arrive to Echo Beach I see that the swell came. While I am trying to put my boardshorts on I see the perfect set lines rolling down and no one is out yet. I jump in the water and paddle out as quick as possible to be the first one out there. With the first wave of the set I just see the perfect barrel rolling in and there is no end, you take off and pull into the green room and you feel like you are back home and when the foam ball spits you out, thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s what happiness is to me.

PETRA PETS They say that the best journeys in life answer questions that, in the beginning, you didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t even think to ask. The journey started with incredible sunrise in Norway, orchard walks in Tuscany, unexpected hitch-hikes through Romania, Serbia and Bosnia, dirt paths and hopeful faces of the Port-auPrince tent cities, the smell of newspaper-wrapped fish and chips in Devon and sound of a tattoo gun in Camden Town, chasing the waterfalls of the DR, hunted by shadows of the 7th Evenue and the morning rush of Brooklyn, the taste of banana curry in Kerala, heat and humidity of Mumbai, jumping off boats in Uluwatu and sleepless boat rides to conquer the waves of Lombok. I have been blessed with the ocean, the immensity, power and rare stillness of it. Travelling the world packed in one suitcase, only scraping a living but making it a living filled with inspiring souls, memories too rare to forget and places too beautiful to capture. I try.

MILION It’s still surfing, where all it started, where all of it ends. Doesn’t matter how the board is shaped, what kind of surface, that feeling of carve, speed, drop in, it’s absolutely unique. After I realised how much is all that connected, even in spiritual way, I finally understand that it’s not just about drawing your line, but about your respect to mother nature, to the existance of life and beauty of every simple moment you can stand on you feet and feel happiness. These perfect days, when you can go fast on skateboard, drop some waves and finally enjoy some bowl skating in the night, that’s what I was looking for and it makes me a thankful person, who is able to live a dream on Bali island. VLADO ZÁVODSKÝ My skateboarding beginnings in 1997 weren’t easy for me. I made money for my first piece of Canadian maple with supermarket-level Flip trucks and Speed Demon wheels cutting down ten-meter tall trees as a lumberjack, ruining one half of my summer. We‘d always go riding after work and we’d try and learn to ollie on the town square, which was all covered in white marble like a real skate plaza. It also had a beautiful white marble fountain This was where our first conflicts with the cops and other various assholes had begun, for instance a pissed off communist old dickhead who claimed to have built the place who obviously had been hiding a box of wine under his ugly jacket. A few years later skateboarding here still lives, true for life.

HALY When I bought my first board when I was fifteen, I knew I would be in it for life! Beginnings with my best buddies in the countryside, shredding the streets everyday was the best experience, broken decks as well as hands, sprained ankles, nothing put me off. Without Substation, our band, and skateboarding, I can no longer imagine living my life!

The motorcycle has always been a crucial aspect of life in Asia. Combined with the natural technical handiness of the Indonesian folk and the want to personify their machines and differ from the otherâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s, the custom motorcycle culture quickly found its place on Bali. Thanks to the small size of the island and the sluggishness of traffic, the general trend are less powerful machines than elsewhere, but owing to their small weight they boast great acceleration. In Canggo amon the rice paddies custom motorcycles have become a genuine phenomenon, with every other neighbor having, aside from a scooter, his darling, which on the right day of the month he takes for a ride around the island. The rumble of more than thirty machines, when youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re masters of the roads and the police force are either just standing there waving and smiling and/or are members of the group, is the reason why we love riding motorbikes with the local community.
