Message from Bishop Ed Dear friends, Greetings and Peace in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! Last year we implemented the first of our annual appeals known as the Alleluia Fund. While none of us anticipated the economic downturn, I want to thank everyone who so generously contributed. Specifically these funds allowed us to implement a new program called Fresh Start. Fresh Start is a diocesan‐led program that seeks to foster healthy relationships among clergy, their congregations and their dioceses during critical periods of transition in clergy leadership. The goal is to build a culture in which the mutual ministry of the clergy and congregation starts off on the right foot,
enabling their new relationship to begin with a “Fresh Start.” In 2009 seven clergy completed the 18‐month program and another six clergy are currently in the program. In addition, three clergy were trained to serve as facilitators for the program. Another effort made possible for the Alleluia Fund is a pilot project to focus on Congregational Development through develping best practices in areas of Hospitality, Assimilation, and Formation. Six congregations have agreed to participate in this pilot project that will lead to involvement of other congregations as we explore ways to grow our churches. Thank you for your faithful support. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Edward Konieczny
