Jawahar Hotel

If you are visiting Old Delhi, then your breakfast would be incomplete without trying out the popular morning dishes — Nihari and Paya. At Jawahar Hotel, breakfast starts at 7 in the morning and at times even earlier. A plate of nihari costs R150 and paya or trotters R150. Make sure you reach this place before 9 am because chances are that you might not get these specialities after that, as customers start queuing up outside the shop much before the eatery opens up. Dear Diary,

It was interesting to see Delhiites turning more stylish this summer, especially teens who carry colourful stuff such as jaipuri umbrellas and jute bags.To beat the heat, girls even wear cotton dupattas on their western clothes. Well, the unique combination does look great. That’s why it’s said that Delhi is different. Fancika Bedi

Well, this incident took place a few days back and since I was one of the person present on site, I felt like scribbling this down. I am serving as an army officer, presently posted in Delhi. On this fateful day, while going to office, I saw a lady of about 45 years crossing the road when a speedy auto rickshaw, coming from the opposite side, hit the lady. The lady was badly injured and the auto rickshaw driver never felt like stopping the vehicle and just ran away. The lady was flat out on the road and was bleeding profusely. I saw her in that condition and turned my vehicle and rushed to the spot. Along with two girls who were passing by, I lifted the lady to safety. It was very encouraging to see Delhi girls helping the lady to regain her calm and composure. It was the sheer help from these two girls that the lady was taken to the nearest hospital. Dear Diary,

I went to Kingdom of Dreams a few days back. There, I went to a place where tattoos were being made for free, as their cost was taken with the entry fee. While I was getting my tattoo done, a group of friends arrived there and asked the price for the services. The tattoo maker was quite a clever guy and told them that the charge of each tattoo was R30. They readily agreed. I was surprised to see how greedy people have become. —Sriza
