Dear Diary,

I recently went to Rajouri Garden and while coming back, I bought an ice cream and went to the metro. When I finished it, I started to look for a dustbin to throw the rapper, but i didn’t find any, neither on the platform, nor in the corridor. Finally, I asked the sweeper on the Rajouri Garden Metro Station as to where to throw the rapper, he told me, “Sir, nichay road pe hi phenk do naa (Just throw it on the street)”. I was shocked and boarded the metro after putting that rapper into my pocket. When I reached the Moti Nagar Metro Station, the situation was the same, as in there was no dustbin there, and I literally had the same dialogue with the sweeper. Finally, I found a dustbin near a confectionery where I threw that rapper. It’s my request to the DMRC to place some dustbins on the metro station. Rachit Singhal

On my way back to school recently, I saw a roadside dhabba in which I saw a small child washing the dishes. This is the condition of India where millions of children are forced to work in factories, dhabbas, homes, etc due to the high level of poverty and illiteracy in India and this condition is getting worse day by day. The children of our country must be sent to schools, as a proper education is very important. The government should provide free education to these poor children. We ourselves can make an effort to teach the kids of our servants or lend our old books to them. Education is the key to success for our country's development. If everyone gets educated, it will lead to India’s growth, we all will benefit from it and will be proud to say that we are Indians! Raveena Rana

CP’s Dhobi Ghat Y

ou must have heard of Kiran Rao’s film Dhobi Ghat but did you know that there is one right in the heart of Connaught Place. To reach there, you have to go to CP’s Hailey Road. Once you’re there, take the left that directs you to Agrasen Baoli. After crossing the Baoli, you will reach Devi Prasad Sadan Dhobi Ghat. When we reached there, we spotted more than 20 dhobis working on various machines. After chatting

The photo cakes here are made in various sizes and shapes depending on the customer’s requirements. Any flavour, like pineapple or strawberry, can be made into a photo cake. Explaining the concept, Chef Rajesh Variyath says, “It’s a simple procedure, where edible sheets (with your pic) in sugar and cocoa butter can cover a cake as its final topping, instead of regular icing or decoration.” These sheets and the ink used are natural and edible. Also, if you want better results, make sure that you are carrying a high resolution picture along with you. They also make cakes with cartoon characters, as such cakes are quite in demand. metropolitandiary Dear Diary,

When you’re here, expect a whole lot of photo cakes in flavours such as black forest, mango, blueberry, vanilla and many more. The photos, as per your requirement, are carried on the cake by placing an edible sheet that is made from corn starch and sugar. It is then coloured with edible colours. They also customize your cake in terms of calories — less sugar, sugar-free and even eggless for all vegetarians. The shop takes orders 24/7 and is open all seven days of the week. You don’t have to personally visit the shop to order your cake. Just give them a call and mail your pics, and they will deliver the cake in five hours. with a few dhobis, we realised that they get clothes from all the ministers’ houses, guest houses and the hostels around the place. We spotted a bulk of white sheets and towels hanging on the wires. We also realised that their technique of washing clothes had become modern. They now have big machines, which made their working much quicker. When we started taking pictures, they were more than willing to pose. “If you publish our picture on the paper, will we be famous like Shah Rukh too?” asked one of the dobhis. ZABEEH AFAQUE
