The long queues didn’t make it any better. “It was only after a 20-minute wait that you got your order, which made many fans go hunting for restaurants nearby,” said Sumit Prasad, who attended the event. The caterers who had put up stalls at the venue included leading names such as Sodexo Prestige, Kwality Catering, Haldiram’s,
Bikanerwala, and Continental Caterers. Kunal Goswami, project head of Fusion Sporting Venture, the catering consultant for the event, said, “There’s no way the samosa could have landed there at a lower cost. We catered for 1,00,000 people a day, some 65km away from the city and had to ensure the highest hygiene standards. The logistics were killing and that’s the reason the cost had gone up.” He added that people did not like the food as it was not spicy enough for the Indian palette.

hat if these guys didn’t burn tyres on the track, they still sent the glamour shooting on Saturday night at the Indian Grand Prix. Actors Preity Zinta, Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone were among those who showed up at two different official Formula One parties in the city, even as Shah Rukh Khan decided to skip the action on the penultimate day. While Deepika played hide-n-seek with lensmen, Preity and Imran, along with his wife Avantika, made appearances on the red carpet. Romanian music star Edward Maya pumped up the music and said he was “very excited to play in India”. “I used to watch F1

ou thought just the Grand Prix tickets cost a bomb? Well, the food hurt visitors just as much. Two ordinary samosas at the Buddh International Circuit made fans poorer by R100, a humble gulab jamun by R50 and a plate of plain raajma chaawal, by R250. What’s more, spectators complained that the exorbitantly priced food items were sub-standard. Former Bigg Boss inmate Sakshi Pradhan, who went to see the race, said, “The food was senselessly expensive and of poor quality. I was shocked when my dad paid R100 for two samosas, which were worse than local ones.” Stylist Akanksha Jain said, “The prices pinched a lot when you had already spent so much on the tickets. The food that they sold is available everywhere at one fourth the price. But since you were not allowed to carry any food inside, you had no choice.”

HRITHIK’S WAX STATUE MOST KISSED
No Indian event can be devoid of drama, and this one had a share of its own. On Saturday, a young man clad in a grey shirt and black trousers, claiming to be a relative of a prominent UP politician, revved up his Lamborghini right next to the entrance of Amber Lounge and shouted abuses at foreigners as
some of his friends were denied entry to the party. “This is our country, go back m***** f*****s,” he yelled, while security pled with him to stop. Sources say this is what put off Deepika Padukone and Sidhartha Mallya, who were to make an appearance at the same time, from coming on to the red carpet.

I am a gentleman and that’s why I kept quiet; I could have said lot of things but that would have been wrong Shakti Kapoor, actor
in the recent episodes of the reality TV show. “I didn’t want to be indecent towards any girl in the house. That is why I stayed away from them. There were lot of people who tried to instigate me. I am a gentleman and that’s why I kept quiet; I could have said lot of things but that would have been wrong.” He adds
that he entered the house to prove a point to his children. “I was not there to win but to prove to my kids that I can stay away from alcohol for a month. I am proud that I could prove that,” he says. About his link up with fellow contestant, actor Shraddha Sharma, he says, “Logon ne bahut koshish ki mujhe link karne ki ... sirf Shraddha se hi nahi, dusron se bhi, but there was nothing of this sort,” he says. So, who does he think will win the show? “It is too early to say anything about that. More than half the people inside the house are fake. And as the days pass, the drama will only increase,” he says.
esi metalheads may be enraged over the cancellation of Metallica’s concert in Gurgaon on Friday, but nothing can beat the dejection that Delhi band Guillotine, which was to open the American heavy metal band’s gig in the city, had to face on losing out on the chance in their hometown. “We have lost the biggest opportunity of our lives. Nothing could’ve been bigger than opening for Metallica in our hometown,” says Karan Nambiar, the lead vocalist of the band, that was formed in 2006. The group was selected for the coveted act after they beat 250 bands in a country-wide contest. “After crossing all the hurdles, when we reached our destination, we lost it all, just because of a barricade,” says Nambiar. The band, which has one album — The Cynic — to its credit, was
given a 20-minute slot to perform at the concert, for which it had decided to perform its own compositions. “We had been practising all day. But at last, it was an opportunity lost,” he says. However, at the time of going to press, the boys were expected to open Metallica’s
