f you thought Gurgaon was all about swanky malls and luxury brands, then think again! Tucked away in a quieter part of the city are small flea markets, which can beat its counterparts Sarojini Nagar or Janpath Market in Delhi in terms of bargains. At the Sadar Bazar flea market — set up only on Sundays — you can pick up the trendiest clothes at throwaway prices. A trendy kurta will cost about R100-150; you can buy bermudas for R100. A yehdillihai! In the Capital, nothing comes in the way of cricket, not even the absence of a bat. We saw this boy using a broom for a bat and bricks for the wicket! Only in Delhi!
fter the very successful opening of her play Ji Saab Ji in December 2010, theatre actor and director Lushin Dubey is back with her production. The play, a tribute to Dubey’s father, Gobind Hemraj Keswani, deals with the issues of contemporary times and explores terrorism. “The seed of this production was laid when I spent time with my father during his last days. During that time, he had two attendants
looking after him — one Hindu and another Muslim. He always used to educate them on human values and how we should be above class and religion. They were the ones who mourned the most on his death,” says Dubey. “All these experiences led me to take on this production.” The play will be staged this Saturday and Sunday at India Habitat Centre. The costumes have been designed by Dolly Ahluwalia and the music has been composed by Rahul Ram and Amit Kilm of the band Indian Ocean. Talking about the play,
Dubey says, “Right from the costumes to music, everything has been put together to bring out the true essence of the script." She adds, "It does not preach or offer any solution to the issues; rather, it tries to emphasise the importance of love and affection.” To make the production more interesting, dancers from the Ashley Lobo troupe are performing a physical theatre. “It’s a very interesting concept; through these dancers, we are trying to depict the physical state of mind of the protagonists.”
