His second book, Soccer Coaches Guide to Skills, Drills and Technique Training, was released in the fall of 1991. BUFFALO SOCCER ALL-AMERICANS DAVY ARNAUD (1999-2001)

COLLIN MABRY (2000-2003)

Most Panhandle soccer fans knew of Collin Mabry before he attended WT. The Amarillo native played on the pitch in his youth for the High Plains Drifters before attending Amarillo High School. The high octane forward had a solid first two seasons with the Buffs, helping his squad to a first LSC Tournament Championship in program history as well as consecutive NCAA

The Hedensted, Denmark, native helped the Buffs record a 0.83 GAA by allowing adversaries to score just 17 goals, a total that includes holding all but two opponents to one goal or less. In addition, Christensen’s strong defensive presence was vital in teammate Shane Taylor notching a WT record-setting nine shutouts that season. Offensively, Christensen tallied five goals and six assists, including going 3-for-3 in PK opportunities, one which proved to be a game-winner.

JOSH FENDER (2002-2005)

JACOB JENSEN (2006-2009)

KENNETH CHRISTENSEN (2004-2007)

Fellow countryman Kenneth Christensen knew what he was doing when he talked Coach Lauffer into giving Jacob Fynboe Jensen a shot with the Buffs in 2006. Jensen, a Horsens, Denmark, native, led the Buffs in the midfield to two conference titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances in his stellar four-year career. He did the dirty work for WT’s offense and still stands as the program’s career leader in assists with 30, a mark that also topped the LSC leaderboard. Jensen dished out at least eight helpers in his first three seasons in Canyon. During his final year in 2009, he was tabbed a Dakronics Honorable Mention All-America selection. That season, he tallied two goals with four assists for eight total points.

A native of Richardson, Texas, Josh Fender stormed quickly to the head of a WT offensive stampede in his four year career. His name has barely budged in the Buffalo record book since his departure as his career totals still rank second in both goals (51) and points (116) and seventh in assists (14). During his junior season, Fender became the fourth All-American in Buff history, earning NSCAA Third-Team honors after a 14-goal, 32-point campaign. Fender upped his marks in 2005 with a second-straight SSC First-Team AllConference performance where he led the league in goals (18), goals-per-game (.95), points (42) and points-per-game (2.21). He scored a hat-trick in his final career game and is one of only seven players in program history to score four goals in a match. After graduating, Fender was named the Panhandle Sports Soccer Athlete of the Year and soon became the third player in WT history to be drafted by an MLS squad, going 37th overall (4th round) to Houston in the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft.

As the Buffs’ first All-American defender, Kenneth Christensen earned Dakronics Third-Team honors while anchoring the defense for WT as a senior in 2007, helping the team finish the season with an overall record of 17-3 and a share of the SSC regular season title.

NCAA Playoff Appearances 1997, 2000, 2001, 2007, 2009

Buffalo Soccer

Davy Arnaud had an excellent collegiate career with the Buffs as he tallied 31 goals and 11 assists in just three seasons. During his junior year in 2001, Arnaud scored 13 goals and three assists and became the first All-American in Buff soccer history as he earned NSCAA First-Team honors. He currently ranks sixth all-time for WT in both career goals (31) and career points (73). In 2008, Arnaud was inducted into the West Texas A&M Hall of Champions. Arnaud was selected 50th overall in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft by Kansas City. In his third season, he earned a starting spot in all 30 contests tallying nine goals and eight assists en route to a Western Conference Championship. He was also named team captain in his final two seasons with the club (2010-’11). Following the 2011 season, Arnaud was traded to the Montreal Impact, an MLS expansion team. He was immediately named team captain and scored the club’s first goal on March 17, 2012. On Dec. 10, 2013, Arnaud was traded to DC United. For his professional career, Arnaud has appeared in 315 matches and has found the net on 50 occasions (as of Aug. 12, 2014). Additionally, he has been capped seven times for the U.S. National Team. He scored his lone international goal on July 11, 2009 in the CONCACAF Gold Cup against Haiti.

Elite Eight appearances. But Mabry really blossomed during his junior campaign. In 2002, he was named an NSCAA Third-Team All-American and the LSC Offensive Player of the Year after leading the team in goals (8) and sharing the team lead in assists (3). After the season, he was also named Panhandle Sports Soccer Athlete of the Year. He returned his senior season as a repeat LSC First-Team All-Conference selection while helping WT to another LSC regular season title.

NICKI NIELSON (2008-2010)

In 2009, Nicki Nielson became the second defender and third Denmark native All-American for the Buffs as he received Dakronics First-Team honors.

15

BUFFALO SOCCER ALL-AMERICANS Nielsen began his sophomore season as a captain of the Buff squad and during the 2009 campaign, Nielsen did not disappoint. He was second in goals scored (7), number of points (16) and game-winning goals (2) behind teammate Ben Everson on the Buff season leader boards. Nielsen held the highest shots-on-goal percentage on the team at .917 after taking 11 of 12 shots-on-goal. Additionally, Nielsen was a perfect 3-for-3 converting all PK attempts into goals. He did his work on the backline as well, helping WT pitch 12 shutouts while allowing only 10 goals. The Oelholm, Denmark, native, finished his career at WT the following year with 11 total goals and five assists for 27 points.

BEN EVERSON (2007-2010)

16

Ben Everson concluded an outstanding four-year career with WT in 2010. The Middlesbrough, England, native made a name for himself from the get-go as a freshman in 2007 by scoring 14 goals and a teamleading 31 points en route to being named SSC Freshman of the Year. He went on to receive SSC Player of the Year and All-South Central Region team honors as a sophomore in 2008. Everson continued to improve his game in his final two seasons as he was a repeat Honorable Mention selection on the Daktronics All-America team in 2009 and 2010. He still sits high in the Buffalo record book ranking third in career goals (48), 10th in career assists (13), and third in career points (109). Remaining in the Panhandle after completing his collegiate career, Everson spent a couple of seasons with the formerly named West Texas United Sockers, a team in the USL PDL, where he scored 10 goals in 23 appearances. He also appeared on the pitch for the Bradenton Academics, also of the PDL, and in January of 2011, was invited to training camp with the San Jose Earthquakes of MLS. Everson ventured back across the Atlantic in 2012 when he signed with second-

tier UMF Tindastóll in Iceland. He spent the remainder of the year between there and Breidablik UBK, a team in the top tier of Icelandic football. Between those two clubs, Everson appeared in 20 matches and found the net eight times. He returned to England in 2013 after signing with York City FC, a fourth tier team. After playing two matches, Everson joined English fifth tier Gateshead F.C. on a loan where he scored twice in 11 matches. In May of that year, Everson went back to Iceland, this time signing with secondtier BÍ/Bolungarvík. He had a successful run in his second stint in Iceland appearing in 20 matches with 10 goals to his credit. On Feb. 6, 2014, Everson was sent to third-tier AFC United in Sweden where he has made four total starts in 12 appearances while logging one assist (as of Aug. 12, 2014). At that point, his club sat in second place in the league standings with a 10-2-1 record (31 points).

COLIN BJOSTAD (2007-2012)

Colin Bjostad endured a rough start to his career at WT with two season-ending injuries in three years. Between those periods, he enjoyed a solid 2009 campaign as a sophomore defender with the Buffs, starting all 19 matches while netting four goals and dishing out an assist for nine points. The defender from Keller, Texas came back stronger than ever for his final season in 2012. He earned both NSCAA First-Team and Dakronics First-Team All-America honors after finishing second on the team in scoring with six goals and three assists for 15 points. Bjostad was one of three players to start all 17 matches and he logged a team-high 1,575 minutes out of a possible 1,592.

DOMINIC FURNESS (2008-2012)

During his senior season at WT in 2012, Dominic Furness led the LSC in just about every offensive category, including shots (80), points (43), points per game (2.53), goals (18), goals-pergame (1.06), assists (seven) and game winning goals (four). He ranked fourth nationally in goals and points, while ranking 44th in assists, and had six multi-goal games. That year, Furness was named NSCAA First-Team and Daktronics Second-Team All-America, Co-LSC Player of the Year, and earned LSC Player of the Week honors twice. He ranks high in the Buffalo career record book in several offensive categories including goals (fifth, 32) and points (fifth, 77) as well as season records including goals (fourth, 18, 2012) and points (third, 43, 2012). After graduating from WT, Furness, like Everson, joined UMF Tindastóll. There, he played in 14 matches and scored one goal. For the 2013 season, he signed with top-tier FH Hafnarfjörður. FH won the league championship the year prior to Furness’s arrival and finished second with him in 2013. At the beginning of the 2014 season, Furness inked a deal with Ljungskile SK, a tier two team in Sweden’s Superettan. As of Aug. 12, 2014, he had seen time in seven matches with the first team and dished out one assist. At that point, the team was just past the halfway point of the season with 18 matches played and a 10-2-6 record, second in Superettan with 36 points.
