Persona 2: First Time Home Buyer
Info: Hannah. 32 years old. Works in sales for a higher education company. Successful. Financially conservative, socially liberal/progressive. She appreciates art, but not to the point where she could compare and contrast genres and styles. She loves color and expression, and is nostalgic of the days when she would paint or craft as a youngster. Her and her husband are down to earth and hard working. They are more Cedar Park than The Eastside. They prefer get togethers to cocktail parties. They’d rather spend money on things that will last rather than fleeting experiences. Rather invest in a home than travel, rather buy furniture than eat out, rather save for future family than party too hard.
Goals/Motivation: She is extremely proud of her and her husband’s new home purchase; it’s the most significant one of their lives, thus far. She is looking for a way to: 1) 2) 3)
commemorate the occasion add some color and life to their new living room have a conversation piece for their visitors
Her and husband are planning their future and trying to get pregnant. She wants to prepare for the occasion. One of her main goals in that category is having a warm and beautiful home - for her and her husband, her friends, and her current and future family. A painting in the living room will be a nice piece of that puzzle.
Although they live in the burbs, they aren’t squares. Love to drink it up at the house, cook and cut up with their friends around the house and at the neighborhood pool. Like to watch comedy standups on Netflix particularly Louis CK, Bill Burr and even Bo Burnham, who her younger brother introduced her to. “Career? Check. Husband? Check. First house? Check. Pregnant? Let’s go.” Devices Used: PC not Mac, Android not I-Phone, Desktop, Laptop, FitBit. Websites Visited: The Blogess for entertainment. Barefoot Contessa for cooking and entertaining ideas. Google News to stay current. Restoration Hardware, West Elm, Design Within Reach for interior decoration and furniture ideas. Huffington Post Parents for family planning and insight. Social Media: Instagram to keep up with her friends and their families, Pinterest for design and cooking ideas. Is way over Facebook and its negativity and clutter, particularly after the last election.
Customer Scenario: Hannah and her husband have been looking at homes. Some of them are staged, some not. In one of the staged homes, there is a nice mural on the wall. It is a picture of The Who. It is photo-realistic, not pretentious in anyway, and very rockin. Her dad loved The Who, The Beatles, The Stones and Led Zeppelin when she was growing up. The picture reminds her of being young and growing up in her home. She had a nice childhood, loves her family and her dad, and really resonated with the picture. She sees it was made by Marcus Jackson. According to the notecard beside the picture - he also does custom work. She is intrigued, so she checks out his website. She digs the style. It is accessible, and likes the themes he explores. Childhood, Pethood, Couplehood, Sports, Nature. She likes his rock and roll stuff, his simple portraits of couples, and the colors he uses in his abstract work. She starts to imagine what The Who piece might look like in the Living Room if they bought the home, or maybe having something custom done. She decides to give Marcus a call.
