Intercourse Magazine is a compendium of readings that encompass art, science, and alternative education. In many ways the magazine is the clearest expression of Pioneer Work’s mission to feature connections between these disciplines. We consistently find unexpected crossovers in ideas being investigated by people from every background and discipline. Intercourse extends the conversation happening at Pioneer Works into a supplemental manual for an inter-disciplinary readership. The work of bringing this content to a national audience also pushes us to consider the implications of our subjects beyond people and concerns in our immediate vicinity. As we strive to find new ways to express the insights of creative people who are reaching beyond their disciplines to synthesize ideas, the magazine becomes an important and historic object as a record of that evolution.
