PAŠMAN

Oasis of peace and quiet, connected by bridge with the island of Ugljan and by ferryboat with Biograd na Moru on the mainland. An island of farmhands who later turned to the sea and fishing preserving its tumultuous history in the Benedictine monastery on the hill of Čokovac near Tkon and the Franciscan monastery near Kraj. These will fascinate nature and culture lovers. The trails are a unique experience for walking and cycling in mountain bike and leading to the highest peak of the island on Bokolj where the view extends from the peaks of Mount Velebit to the hundreds of islands and islets and the Channel from Zadar to the Kornati islands. The Pašman Channel is a natural phenomenon with its green islands, ideal area for sailing and other nautical activities. The southern part of the island, accessible by narrow roads and rustic houses, today partly intended for tourism, will bring you closer to Robinson tourism and the entire island will give you pleasure with its beaches.

g n i l i Sa

Sailing by the islands, islets and reefs in one of the most indented waters of Europe is the trademark of this region. The marvellous channel with its pleasant mistral wind, gentle coves, outlines of fortifications and churches in the sunset, green islands covered with Mediterranean macchia, pine and olive trees encircled by a crystal sea inspire with beauty and offer safety. A dozen marinas and moorings, anchorage in attractive coves, charter fleets and experiences skippers are at disposal to all those who wish to try.

PAG

PAG

An island of fascinating “moon” surface with the most indented coastline on the Adriatic Sea. There are numerous sandy and gravel beaches among the kilometres long dry stone walls, old olive groves and the omnipresent fragrance of sage. The symbol of the island is the famous cheese from Pag acknowledged as one of the best in the world, lamb meat and lace, salt and white wine žutica. The town of Pag is a typical medieval town built according to the project of the Dalmatian genius architect Juraj Dalmatinac (George the Dalmatian). Among the stone and rock that glitters from north to south you will find fortifications and churches, archaeological ruins thousands of years old, from the old sunken Cisa to the abandoned old Pag. The biggest salt pan that determined the lives of the locals for years appears in a picturesque panorama. The refined costume of Pag and numerous traditions, unusual wetland landscape of Velo blato near Povljanja and Kolansko blato, in the heart of a rocky island, songs and unsurpassed gastronomy belong to the traditional reasons of touristic attraction of the island. Noisy youthful entertainment in the north of the island in Zrće Cove and the famous Pag Festival have given the island European recognition in this type of entertainment.

VELI IŽ

IŽ & RAVA Between Ugljan and Dugi otok, in the so-called Central Canal, one of the centres for nautical navigation, are the islands of Rava and Iž with dozens of islets and under the administration of the City of Zadar. Iž is the island of olive growers, fishermen, pottery makers and maritime traders whose traditions date from ancient times. The preserved old nucleus of Veli Iž, marina and hotel are making the island a tourist centre and the picturesque three hamlets of Mali Iž (Mućel, Makovac and Porovac also attract tourists. Rava today has two localities - Vela and Mala Rava, a most beautiful landscape and a long tradition of fishermen and olive growers and refuge for sea and nature lovers.

DUGI OTOK

SAKARUN

Dugi otok (Long Island) – one of the most beautiful islands on the Adriatic. Telašćica Nature Park and Kornati National Park is to be found at one end of the island, while on the other are the picturesque coves of Soliščica and Pantera with Sakarun sandy beach. Sakarun is included in the association of The Most Beautiful Beaches in the World. The stone lighthouse of Veli Rat is rising over and overlooking the dark blue open sea straight to the Italian mainland.

MOLAT

The island has 11 historical fishermen’s villages of Sali, Zaglav, Žman, Luka, Savar, Brbinj, Dragove and Božava situated on the northeast coast, then Soline, Verunić and Veli Rat on the northwest coast, connected with a breath taking panoramic road. Particularly attractive are the 100-metre-high reefs under Telašćica extending for over 10 kilometres towards the open sea on the southeast part. Mediterranean flora is another attraction that brings numerous fans of the submarine world. Strašna Cave, open to visitors, will amaze you with its submarine world. Pre-Romanesque small churches, the oldest written testimony of the Croats or the magic of Lavdara Island – island of the famous quarry from the Roman Empire period to the 20th century are only a part of the story waiting to be disclosed. The fishing tradition and island fields will endow you with the unique tastes of recipes as old as time itself.

PREKO

SILBA, OLIB, PREMUDA, IST, ŠKARDA & MOLAT A group of islands northwest of Zadar consists of Silba, Olib, Premuda, Ist, Škarda, Molat and numerous islets creating a small archipelago which confides its destiny to the sea in the Kvarner and Lošinj triangle. Intact coves and crystal clear sea are a real paradise for yachtsmen and fishing fans. The underworld of the sea offers the richness of flora and fauna and remains of sunken ships to the braver ones.

TELAŠĆICA

The island of Molat created three localities in its richly indented coastline, while the other islands have just one locality. Škarda and its 16 houses have no inhabitants for the last one left the Island in the last decade of the 20th century and the island breathes with life only in the summer. Nautical paradise is too weak a word to describe this archipelago made up of dozens of islets and reefs with countless coves. You may find a car only on Molat, on the road that connects the localities while the others offer sceneries of past time. Silba is the most inhabited and can entertain you with its summer liveliness, while the peacefulness, restaurants and taverns next to the sea of the other islands offer unforgettable pleasure for which people should have thought of the expression “slow food”.

UGLJAN Green island, called the Zadar garden, situated across the channel and in front of the city it is connected to by ferryboat. From the Roman villa rustica to the Middle Ages, this island served as summerhouse for the nobility and the rich (Califfi, De Ponte, Bartolazzi, Benja, ...). Olive growing has been nurtured here from the Roman Veteran Galliano, who had property here in the hamlet of Muline and an oil mill for processing the famous Liburnian olive oil which is being done to this day. The fortress of St. Mihovil (Michael) dominates the island and offers unforgettable views of the Zadar archipelago. The old fishing localities are Kukljica, Kali, Preko, Ugljan, Lukoran, Poljana and Sutomišćica among which Kali is most famous for its fishermen who fish tuna all over the world. Today all the localities are dedicated mostly to tourism. Two quaint islands lying in front of Ugljan are Ošljak with a characteristic fishing port and Galevac with its Franciscan monastery. These pleasant islets offer safe port and anchorage.
