Reflection -a five-point reflection-The building design was influenced greatly by the atelier’s position which is based on creativity and creating more inclusive cities and spaces. It inspired me to see the beauty of being different, and how difference enriches creativity. by adopting the atelier’s position, the project was developed through a design process that encourages engaging with different people, methods, and ambitions to take a step toward making positive change. -From a social aspect, and by placing people over capitalism, the design of the project aims to reduce regional inequality in the UK as part of the ‘Levelling UP’ theme. Through the design process, I have learned that to have a healthy financial and manufactured system, we need first to have a healthy social and human system. -The Technologies unit has a major impact on my building design by considering the importance of the building methodology and the technical strategy. It was insightful in terms of developing the structural and constructional details of the building, as well as developing passive techniques that promote the degrowth strategy of the project. -The Humanities unit also played an important role in developing my design approach by investigating the root of climate change and its unexpected and unnoticed effects. The term ‘Slow Violence’ was one of the interesting topics that we have covered, and it acknowledges the social inequality and injustice that resulted from climate change. -Looking through the history of the industrial revolution in the UK and its negative impact on people, especially the working class, encouraged me to create more inclusive spaces to tackle the implications of climate change and inequality and protect human rights.
