Density in Los Angeles; LA needs a revolution to initiate the urban life it lacks so badly today. It will need to change dramatically if it ever wishes to host the healthy levels of sociability and the sparks of activity that are so essential in contributing to a vibrant urban scene. This project responds to the current social decay by exploring the potential of strategic densification, in order to evoke the desired energy and quality of urban life. imagining dense westwood with public open spaces: linear parks, pocket gardens and squares Opposite page:final model of dense Westwood, blocks with roof tops represent residential density
Section going through the high street; added volume on top of the existing buildings creates an arcaded shopping street , stalls and extensions of shop fronts occupy the wide walkways and a new tram line helps create a low speed mix street for shared by the tram, cars, bikes and pedestrians
