4REALnotices BOOK OF THE MONTH Less than a year ago, Oobah Butler was living in a garden shed in London, struggling to pay rent and living on a diet of boiled eggs. It’s safe to say that he hadn’t achieved much with his life. want to underline the fact that everything in this magazine has a taste of irony and sarcasm. I’m not trying to make fun of fashion industry I am trying to show people that we take everything in too seriously and that we concentrate too much on the wrong things. Nowadays, we are walking on a thin line between real and fake and more often come across the question what is real and 11

what is not. Authenticity and individuality are two things that are rare these days and I think that needs to change. We live in the world of social media and we are surrounded by fake news. We edit our photos on photoshop and we put so much make up on our face trying to cover our imperfections. We care about labels more than the real thing. Reading this new issue you will loose yourself in unreal world and

you won’t know what is real and what is fake. You will face absurdism of today’s society and I hope you will realise how important it is to stay your true self, first honest to yourself and honest to others. Stop hiding yourself under those masks, because you are BEAUTIFUL and you make the world beautiful with your flaws and imperfections.

ou are probably interested to hear more about Marcello life and childhood, what he achieved in life and how did he reached the top. I would be interested to, inspiring story really. After he told me everything that has happened to him and the price he had to pay to become famous, I was blown away. I have seen and heard a lot of things in my life but the story of Marcello was the most unbelievable and extraordinary Curious, yet. Well, that’s something we will find out at the end of this article, so keep reading! We started our talk with Marcello by talking about birds. He told me he is fascinated by birds and that in his free time he would take photos of birds and collect their feathers. He has a big collection, a lot of different types of them. Around 1,000 to be exact. Obviously, I asked him what is his favourite bird. It was a hard question for Marcello to answer and it took him a few minutes, but finally he said it’s pigeons. I couldn’t believe, thinking that pigeons are too simple for such a extravagant person to like. And you know what he told me? That he was a simple, poor boy once to. In that moment he revealed his biggest dream to me. He said that one day he will make a costume for a pigeon, so no one would call him ugly or too simple again. That made us move on to a different subject, favourite ice cream. Scientists once said that the flavour of ice cream that you

choose tells more about your personality that you could. Marcello favourite ice cream flavour is vanilla. Which surprised me again, and then he explained that he loves adding stuff on top of the ice cream, like chocolate syrup and gummy bears. Apparently, inside he is a simple man. He told me that he has a cat and a dog. He loves the dog more, But most of all he would love to have a pigeon, unfortunately it would be a torture for pigeon. That’s the reason he doesn’t own birds. Because they want to be free. They need to be free, otherwise, they suffer. Next thing we talked about was very personal and I am glad that he opened to me about it. He started talking about love and relationships and I asked Marcello the question that probably everyone would ask. First kiss. He told me a heartbreaking story about a boy he kissed when he was 14 years old in a camp. He was obviously deeply in love. Sadly, it ended in two weeks. Next thing I know and we start talking about important things, something you were waiting for. Breakfast. I think all of us would agree, that food is probably the most important thing in life, especially if you are single. Marcello, tries to eat healthy because he really cares about his body and his health.So usually for breakfast he has oatmeal with fresh berries on top, also he loves cooking. He cooks a lot for his friends and family. He even considered becoming a chef on the side of being a world famous designer, you know what they say: you can never be

too famous. But he told me that he doesn’t really have enough time for it, cause he already has a lot on his plate (excuse the pun).Sometimes he enjoys a poached egg with avocado toast or granola on yoghurt. He likes English breakfast too. But eats it rarely, because it has a lot of fat. Next most important thing is sleep. He usually sleeps on his right side and always has to leave his window open, even in winter. Otherwise he feels like he is suffocating. He can only sleep on a soft mattress otherwise his neck starts hurting, also he has to have at least three pillows, to be comfortable. If you are interested in a mattress, that he sleeps on, cause you probably are, it’s Casper Hybrid Mattress. Highly recommend, to get one, I think it’s around £600. A bit pricy but it’s worth it I mean if Marcello is recommending it, I really trust him and you should too. You are probably tired of reading this nonsense already and want the real stuff. So I think we should move on to that. Real, personal stuff, the story of Marcello. I ask him, if he could tell as one secret, something he never told anyone. It’s a a lot to ask. I have no idea, if he is willing to tell me and we sit in silence for a minute. I hold my breath, he looks sad. He starts speaking, slowly and I can feel his voice shaking a little bit. Once, when I was a small boy, I remember watching tv. I would wake up in the morning before my parents and instead like every normal child, instead of watching animation, I would watch Project Runway.....

At that time I was ashamed of it, because all my friends they were interested in cars and Spiderman, they wanted to become a superhero when they grow up and all I wanted to be was a fashion designer. I loved dressing up, I would wrap a curtain around my body and I was able to wrap it around myself in the way that no one else could, in that moment I knew I am special, says, Marcello with tears in his eyes. We move on to talk about something else, and I ask him what skincare products he uses (his skin looks flawless). Getting back to Marcello cause obviously it’s his interview. I ask him how is he feeling right now and you know what he tells me? He tells me that he is feeling great. So relaxed and comfortable with me (I have a feeling that we’re going to stay friends long after this amazing and fun interview I never in a 100 years expected him to be so down to earth and such a warm, nice, charming person. It’s hard to stay like this when fame and money hits you. How a label, became more important than the real thing. So long story short Payless (discount shoe store) did an experiment to prove that I shoppers will pay a lot of money just for a label and not for the design. The brand faked the whole thing and opened a fake boutique called Palessi. To pull the whole thing off, Payless hired the company called DCX Growth Accelerator, which found the space, built a fake website called Palessi, and filled the showroom with shoes and gold mannequins to make it look sophisticated and expensive. ”We said let's give the campaign a handle, something creative that will be stickier, that an upscale retailer would really do," said DCX chief creative officer Doug Cameron. "I went on Wikipedia and looked up a list of Italian family names and saw Alessi, then added a 'P' to that. We also created a website around Palessi because we figured people would Google it.” And then CBS reports invited a group of 60 influencers to be exact to come and shop brand’s new collection. But all the expensive “designer" Palessi shoes actually were just not the best quality $20 pair from Payless. The brand shop was set up at a luxury mall in Los Angeles and influencers bought Payless shoes at an 1800 percent markup. (A price tag the influencers paid happily). All of the unknowing participants were refunded their money at the end of the experiment, but the results were still hilarious. They talked about the quality of shoes, and were quoted describing it as “Just stunning. Elegant, sophisticated.” One influencer paid $645 for a pair of Payless

shoes that range from just $19.99$39.99. One anonymous shopper said, "I can tell it was made with high-quality leather” which was actually a faux leather sneaker. Unbelievable, right? But what doesthat say about us? That we are naive and believe everything that we are told? In today’s society, it’s easy to get lost between real and fake. It’s so easy to pretend to be someone else on social media, to fake a life, to edit your pictures and to change anything that you don’t like about yourself. You can even fake a shoe store, some guy faked a restaurant, that on trip advisor was rated the best restaurant in London. But it wasn’t even real. What does it tell us about the world we live in today? I think most important thing is to stay your true self. Be honest to yourself first and then be honest to others. Our individuality and our differences makes us special. Imperfections make us human. And this experiment that Payless did, goes deeper than we think. This is just a one more proof that we care about labels more than the real thing. We call someone fat, stupid, ugly, gay or black, we put a label on them and we can’t see behind that. We buy the label and we preach it as the real thing, just because someone told us that.

We have to realise how much it is damaging our society, our lives. We hurt others and then others hurt us. The cycle goes round and round without ever stopping. If you stop labeling people, eventually the cycle will stop and the world becomes a better place. If you stop caring about labels, you will start seeing behuind them. You will see beautiful souls and you will became a beautiful soul yourself. Doesn’t that sound nice? I think it does. So, I think Payless did very well with this experiment, it was like a cold shower for everyone. We need more of that in our lives. I really hope that you took something from this article. And I believe that you will start making a world a better place. Today. Start telling people that they are beautiful. Label them, with labels
