YOUTH CENTER DESIGN
In the past, Shenzhen was just a small and poor fishing village. In just 40 years, it has become such a In Kandingsky's Point and Line to Plane, he finds metropolis. This fast transformation is what we call a balance among different elements, which is very the "Shenzhen speed" . similar to Shenzhen today. There are all kinds of skyscrapers in Shenzhen. Some people say Shenzhen has lost its personality, but maybe this is its personality---independent, tolerant, and balanced. Therefore, maybe there is a way to build something on top of an existing building. Because Shenzhen has a variety of architectural personalities, this design attempts to use the existing buildings in Shenzhen to explore the possibility of building a youth activity center.
What will we lose when we focus on urban development? How can we preserve the memory of the city through architecture?

I made these architectural elements into silhouettes, and used them as the architectural language of each building.
I collected 38 buildings of each era in Shenzhen, extracted their architectural elements, and compressed them into a square border.
I restructured these architectural languages, and used them as the front, side, and bottom of the building to form into a new shape.

Transform and reshape different volumes in three different ways: 1. One single building 2. One single building consisting of more than 3 volumes. 3. One scattered building group consisting of more than 3 volumes. My final choice is a building group consisting of four main volumes. It is more suitable for the climate in Lingnan area and the independence of each function. It also has a better distribution function and can increase the utilization rate of the site. DEVELOPMENT 22

The main entrance of the venue is open to the central axis of the civic square. Crowds are guided into the venues by the bricks and green plants paved in the venue. The decentralized layout makes each functional zone of the youth activity center very independent, but still connected. A round road system is adopted to increase connection between venues. Plants are used to separate different external spaces in the venue. There are many kinds of plants in the venue, which makes each space easy to differentiate. The plants are mostly tall arbors, which can also be a supplement to the buildings by providing shelter.

The Science and Technology Building has a public planetarium, courtyard, workshop, and exhibition hall, etc.. It is connected to the Administration Building through a corridor. People can get to the roof by walking around a giant astronomical telescope and approach the space step by step. Each floor of the administration building has a shared space. With a sense of continuity, the double-height space actually makes the internal space of the enclosed layout as vibrant as it can be. The gymnasium is divided into two parts, indoor and outdoor. Badminton courts, table tennis courts, snooker room, gyms, and cafes are indoor, while cage football fields and rooftop skate fields are outdoor. The Art Building enters the interior by a sunken plaza. A small stage is built in it to increase the opportunities for students to show their talents. It also has a courtyard inside. The Exhibition Area is divided into an indoor temporary exhibition hall and an outdoor display area. When the outdoor display area is unused, it can also serve as a large public step for people to rest.

THINKING OF UNITS If nine regular and different ways are connected in the cube, and each line is segmented and connected again one by one to get a unit, we can get 27 distinct units in the end. Then we randomly combine the 27 units, and let the units randomly combine into a new unit. In the same way, we can have a new unit formed by 5 basic units.

The scale of the first attempted model was too small, making it difficult to be made. I even built a "robotic arm" with a clip to fix it, but the result was far from satisfying. I used wooden sticks and iron wires to make the second model. Because it is very difficult to stick the junction of the wooden sticks, the exterior frame is deformed. I used plastic rods and cloth in the end. Because the surface is used instead of the line, the overall effect is more continuous and the surface effect is also very great!

The Exhibition Area can be used for displaying and resting. It is connected by flexible flow lines. Through the gaps in the exhibition wall, people tend to have an imperceptible interaction. Such thing also happens in the library bookshelves. We tend to guess what is happening at the other side of the bookshelf through the gaps of books. This curiosity subconsciously leads us to walk to the other side of the bookshelf, resulting in an increase in the distance of walking. The Rest Area is lined up on both sides. People resting on the outside can also see the the exhibition wall inside, which increases the interaction not only between people and people but also between people and exhibits.

STUDIO DESIGN I'm always wondering: if I can have my own studio, how can I make it special? In addition to satisfying my needs, what significance will it bring to reality?
The movie Léon tells us that even two people who are full of contradictions will have the possibility of falling in love with each other because they communicate.
This story reflects a fact that can't be ignored: ordinary people and designers have dif ferent understandings about architecture. Sometimes there are interesting misunderstandings, but more often it will cause angry disputes. So we inadvertently create a certain connection and spark new thinking on both sides.

The source of the river is the Pearl River. Xiaozhou Village is a representative of Lingnan Water Township. Generation after generation of villagers cannot live without the river that runs through the whole village.

Today's Xiaozhou Village has well preserved the style of the water village. Many artists come here to to look for inspiration. Therefore, it attracts many young tourists. However, as Xiaozhou Village is becoming more and more commercialized, shops of various types have sprung up. These shops not only bring great trouble to the tourists, but also to the management of Xiaozhou Village. In hope of bringing new vitality to the site, I designed a studio that can benefit the public. I want the visitors to better understand Xiaozhou Village and myself to define a new kind of architectural design studio.
XIAOZHOU VILLAGE MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO MEET THE THREE MAJOR NEEDS OF YOUNG DESIGNERS. AT THE SAME TIME, THE STUDIO CAN REVITALIZE THE ANCIENT VILLAGE, WHICH IS IN LINE WITH THE DEVELOPMENT ORIENTATION OF XIAOZHOU VILLAGE.

THE CONTRADICTIONS WITH THE ORIGINAL ARCHITECTURE WILL BE MORE LIKELY TO BRING BENEFITS
CONCEPT
We never lack the voice of anger. It is these voices that make us realize what the current society is about. As a designer, in addition to pursuing your ambitions, you should try to get out of the closed studios, listen to the voices of the public, influence others from the communication, and improve your self from disputes. Likewise, the public can also understand your design from such communication. So rather than disputes, we should pay more attention to the opportunities and places for communication.

FOLK MUSEUM DESIGN Childhood Paper Airplane We tend to think that folk museums exist only because they can let young people understand the lives of older people. But in fact, the people who are most likely to visit folk museums are the older people. For them, the items on display are everything they had when they were kids. Therefore, I use "paper plane", a typical toy in older people’s childhood, to connect people from different generations.
RESIDENTIAL DESIGN The Forest Under The Puzzle I came up with a solution to solve the problem of the low utilization rate of residential areas in China today. We can create commercial areas in the underground garages to take advantage of the underground spaces. By doing this, we can have the possibility to create an open community while not affecting local residents’ living conditions.
