Organization: Poiana lui Iocan NGO Date: Jan, 2013 - present Location: Bucharest, RO Description: Poiana lui Iocan is an interdisciplinary think-tank composed of international researcher in urban studies, architecture, sociology and marketing. Its main mission is to explore the role of contemporary design as a facilitator of new types of interactions that can lead to the development of new types of urban governance structures. Our projects focus on developing new tools meant to facilitate the understanding of complex “wikied problems” associated with contemporary urban planning. Main projects:

The study analyses how this set of rules where implemented in 40 municipalities and proposes strategies for streamlining the process in the future.

The objectives develop a visitor and car traffic management plan as well as a general guideline for future architecture interventions in the area.

Eco Rehab 3 - Future of the City. The area chosen for this exercise was the Nowa Huta district of Krakow which was developed during the 60s and 70s for the nearby steel works.

The pilot project goal was to inform new directions for the Bucharest 2021 program by identifying and connecting small initiatives around the city.

Vienna Implementation Lab Date: May 2015 Location: Vienna, AU Web link: Description: Using the Implementation Lab structure, where a team of international experts makes an analysis, develops recommendations and constructs a plan and a process strategy for the sustainable redevelopment of an urban area we have been working with the Vienna Municipality on a refined proposal for an old railway depot which will be converted into a new residential apartments and a cultural center.

Project tasks: development of a long term vision along with the relevant objectives and programs required in the process of rural regeneration for the area.

Bauhaus Summer School - Energy Landscapes 3.0 Date: Jul 2011 Location: Dessau, DE Web link: www.bauhaus-dessau.de/energy-landscapes-30.html Description: The main objective of Energy Landscapes 3.0 was to study the new network geographies forming around energy systems, and their impacts on European settlements. Precedents included mega-structure projects that involved large energy infrastructure systems across vast regions, such as Herman SĂśrgel in 1928 his Atlantropa project and Richard Buckminster Fuller with his World Game in 1972.
