EDGBASTON CRICKET GROUND
Edgbaston Cricket Ground is a cricket ground in Edgbaston, Brimingham, England. It is Warwickshite County Cricket Club’s home ground and is also used for Test matches and ODI’s. Edgbaston is England’s second biggest cricket ground (25,000 seats) after Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. - In 1994, Brian Lara scored 501 (not out) for Warwickshire against Durham, the highest score by a batsman in first class cricket. - Australia lose to England by two runs in the second Test of the 2005 Ashes, the closest Ashes match ever. - In 2012, West Indian bowler Tino Best scored 95 against England, the record highest score for a number 11 batsmen.
A googly (bosie or wrong’un) is a special delivery bowled by a right arm leg spinner. A normal leg break spins from the leg to the off side, away from a righthanded batsman, however a googly spins the other way, from off to leg, into a right-handed batsman

INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE The Indian Premier League is a Twenty20 cricket league in India. The league consists of 9 teams with players from across the world. In 2010, IPL was the first sporting event to be broadcasted live on YouTube.
The league has had its fair share of controversy with corruption scandals, cricket betting, money laundering and spot fixing. IPL’s brand value is estimated to be around $2.99 billion in its fifth season.
The most wickets in a season was by Lasith Malinga in 2011. He scored 28 wickets in 16 games.
The fastest century was by Yusuf Pathan. He scored 100 in 37 balls including nine fours and eight sixes.
The highest team score was by the Chennai Super Kings who scored 246/5 against Rajasthan Royals in 2010.
The highest individual score was by Brendan McCullum in 2008. He scored 158 off 78 bowls (including 13 sixes).
Hobbs scored his last Test centuryagainst Australia in Melbourne in 1929 - when he was 46 years, the oldest man to ever score a century in first-class cricket.
Hobbs’ batting average at the end of his career was 56.94 and is in the top five average’s of all time alongside Bradman, Barrington, Hammond and Sobers.
The Master Jack Hobbs
Jack Hobbs was an English cricketer playing for Surrey and England. His nickname was the “The Master” as he is regarded as one of the best batsmen of all time. He has scored 61, 760 runs and 199 centuries making him the leading run-scorer and century-maker in cricket. He was a right-handed batsman, ocassional medium pace bowler and a very good fielder, especially in cover point.
Wisden said, “He was not an artist, like some of his predecessors, nor yet a scientist, like some of the moderns; he was perhaps the supreme craftsman.”

The Oval
The oval is a famous cricket ground located in Kennington, London. It is home to Surrey County Cricket Club. The ground was established in 1845 and has a capacity of 23,500. The nearest tube stations are Oval and Vauxhall.
The End names are Pavaillion End and Vauxhall End. The ground also played home to a number of rugby matches.
The ground is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. This was the venue for the first test match between England and Australia.
The Oval was also home to the the first ever international football match between England and Scotland in 1870.
Viv Richards was a West Indian cricketer, considered one of the best of all time, especially in ODI cricket. He was voted one of the five cricketers of the century by Wisden. He is also one of only four non-English cricketers to have scored 100 first-class centuries, the others being Donald Bradman, Glenn Turner and Zaheer Abbas. Richards was a powerful right-handed batsman who played with an attacking style. He was also a strong fielder and occasional off-spinner. Richards played his 17-year career without wearing a helmet.

Garfield Sobers was a West Indian cricketer. He played between 1954 and 1974 and is considered one of the greatest all-rounders of all time. He was originally a bowler, but was pushed up the order as his batting improved. In 383 first-class cricket matches, he has scored over 28,000 runs and taken over 1000 wickets. He was famous for being the first batsman to score six sixes in one over in 1968 for Nottinghamshire agianst Glamorgan.

UMPIRE The umpire has the authority to make decisions according to the laws of cricket. He will make important decisions such as legal delivery, appeals for wickets and player conduct and manner.
- Most Test matches as umpire: Steve Bucknor, 128 matches. - Most ODI matches as umpire: Rudi Koertzen, 209 matches.

Michael Vaughan
Michael Vaughan was an cricketer who played for England and Yorkshire. He was a right-handed batsman and an occasional off-spinner. He was considered one of the best batsmen of the 2002/2003 Ashes, where he scored 633 runs, including three centuries. He was also captain of the England side when they regained the Ashes in 2005 and retired in 2009.
Extras (Sundries) are runs scored without the batsman hitting the ball. Other than runs scored off the bat from a no ball, a batsman is not given credit for any extras. A game with lots of extras is considered an untidy game. A game with little is a tidy game.
There are many different types of extras. These include: No Ball - If a bowler fails to make a proper delivery Wide - Too far for batsman to hit Bye - Batsman “leaves the ball� but scores runs. Leg Bye - Batsman hits the ball with his body and scores runs.
