Education and values are two categories which may, but not necessarily have to, be connected. Perhaps education is independent from values? Or maybe education always leads to shaping some values – both in the one who is educating and in the one who is being educated. What therefore should these values represent? Should we assume that some values are indispensable and some should be arbitrarily rejected? Who should make such decisions? What is education nowadays, anyway? Is it still about communicating certain values? What is the role of school in education? Is it just transferring those values or something more – creating them?
The subject of this issue of Refleksje brings more questions than clear answers concerning education and values.
