Therefore, ‘soft’ skills, yet ‘harder’ or perhaps just more lasting than it seems, should be one of the teaching priorities in the constantly reformed education. The abovementioned social skills together with creativity, time management, empathy and others, can be shaped at modern classes, where student do not sit passively at their desk but take an active part in exploring the world and learn through experience.
Hence, the articles published in this issue describe various ways of incorporating ‘soft’ skills into different areas of teaching. In addition to the examples of good practice and a handful of tips, the authors draw attention to the need of social skills training for teachers. It is our multifaceted preparation for teaching that shapes the level of education of future generations.
