THE DESIGN PROCESS You might have a good idea of what sort of ring design you’d like or you might possibly be starting from scratch. Either way we will talk you through all your options and give you expert advice on important things like the right setting style, how to choose the best diamond grade for your budget, the different metal options and how they suit different styles of ring. We’ll show you lots of ring designs, do sketches for you and you’re welcome to bring design ideas in, or email over to us too. We can do remote design consultation by Skype or by email too. Once we have a good idea of what you like then we can quote for a few options for you.
WHAT’S YOUR STYLE? Claw Set It’s really important to us that your ring design is going to suit your lifestyle. Whilst some settings might look lovely they could be really impractical: it’s often about getting the balance right.
Rubover The more metal there is in contact with your gem stone the more secure it’s going to be so ‘rubover’ designs are really practical. We can make the rubover edge really fine or more chunky – whatever you prefer!
Three stone Maybe one isn’t enough?! A three stone ring is a great opportunity to play around with different stone shapes; maybe a cushion cut in the middle with trilliants either side?

Traditional If we ask you if you’re after a more traditional design or something quite contemporary would you know the answer?! The design process can be a journey and establishing your ‘style’ is an important part of it.
Contemporary Sometimes just having a wider ring shank, with perhaps a sharp, flat profile can turn a classic design into something with a more modern feel. This is your ‘forever’ ring – it needs to reflect your style and personality!
DIAMOND advice Diamonds can vary massively in terms of quality and we want to ensure you get the best you can for your budget. Every single diamond we show you will be hand picked by one of our GIA experts to meet the highest quality criteria. Something you can absolutely take for granted is that your diamond will have a superior cut to any High Street retailer’s stones which means it is going to sparkle a lot more! You can get as involved in the selection process as you want; we can show you a selection of stones that meet your size, budget and quality criteria and then help you choose the best one.
GIA 4Cs of Diamond Quality
Wonder of Nature There is no other gemstone quite like a diamond. It is found in the most remote places on earth, and the fact that it forms at all is something of a miracle. It takes about one ton of rock to recover less than half a carat of rough, making diamond one of the rarest and most desired gemstones in the world. A diamond is a testament of endurance and strength – and not surprisingly, the ultimate symbol of love.

the story of its arduous journey from deep inside the earth to a cherished object of adornment. Yet all diamonds share certain features that allow us to compare and evaluate them. These features are called the 4Cs.
Independent and nonprofit, GIA is considered the final word on a diamond’s authenticity and quality. GIA developed the 4Cs and the International Diamond Grading System™, the standard used around the globe. GIA screens every gemstone to identify synthetics, simulants and known treatments. Expert gemmologists examine each diamond under controlled lighting and viewing conditions, in order to provide the most rigorous assessments of a diamond’s 4Cs. Every GIA grading report contains these assessments along with additional descriptive information and state-ofthe-art security features. Buying a diamond is a momentous decision. GIA reports let you make it with confidence.

Cluster These designs are really popular, with a larger gem stone in the middle surrounded by smaller, bright, sparkling diamonds. Even our smallest diamonds dazzle!
Coloured If you like the idea of some colour we will advise you on things like different stone hardnesses as some gem stones need to be worn with care. We can show you a selection of shades, with rubies for example ranging from pink through to dark red - and you then pick what takes your fancy!
Shaped Some engagement ring designs need a ‘shaped’ wedding band as a straight one won’t fit flush against them. We think it’s nice to be able to picture what your wedding ring and engagement will look like together before you commit to a design.

OUR GOLDSMITH How we make your ring... Your engagement ring will be made by our small team of carefully selected, skilled craftsmen, we discuss every little design detail with them to ensure we make you the ring of your dreams. Some designs we have a ‘master’ design for and will then cast your ring in the metal of your choice and hand finish with the stone you’ve selected. This is normally a little more cost effective than completely hand making your ring for you. If you’re after something totally bespoke, you can specify every little detail and your ring will be hand made by our top ‘mounter’. Our locally based workshop team also consists of a setter and a polisher and any engravings being carried out by either our hand or laser engraver.
Wed fit You might fancy a fabulously large diamond but sometimes that means you need a ‘shaped’ wedding band. If you’d prefer a straight wedding band AND a big rock we can make your engagement ring ‘Wed fit’!
MEET OUR DESIGN TEAM We know this is a big deal and that you want to get it right so we are here to help every step of the way. We will ask the right questions to ensure you’re getting the right ring for you – it is also important to us. We’re not just retailers; we are jewellery design experts and have an amazing reputation for honest advice, top quality rings and caring... It’s a good idea to book a (no obligation) design appointment so you spend some time with one of our experts.
