TECHNICAL SHEET: EZ Artemia is a synthetic Artemia formulated as a complete and balanced diet designed to mimic the color, taste, texture and
nutritional value of Artemia nauplii. The ingredients have been selected for their high quality, attractability, and digestibility. EZ Artemia is manufactured using a state of the art processing technique to preserve sensitive nutrients, pigments, omega-3 fatty acids, enzymes, and other nutrients. The micro-capsulated particles have a soft moist texture and are easy to consume.
Features & Benefits • • • • • • • • • • • • •
100% Artemia replacement 1 Kg of EZ Artemia replaces 1 Kg of natural Artemia cysts (at 80% hatchout). Eliminates approximately $15/kg associated with the hatching and processing of natural Artemia. Accelerates growth and shortens larvae culture by 3 days – stronger PL’s. Consistently demonstrates survivals > 70%. Improved biosecurity. Contains Vpak (Vitality Pak) to enhance disease resistance. Neutrally buoyant; maintains easily in the water columns. Does not foul water - minimizes leaching. Improved digestibility versus dry diets. Easy to mix and distribute in water. Probiotics added to aid in larval digestion, water quality and pathogen control. Preservation of nutrient integrity through use of low temperature processing.

EZ
Liquid Artemia Replacement Diet
TECHNICAL SHEET: EZ Artemia FAQ 7) What characteristics does EZ Artemia have that make it a good diet for use in larval rearing?
1) What is EZ Artemia? EZ Artemia is a synthetic artemia used to replace artemia nauplii hatched from cysts. It is a liquid based microcapsule feed that is an enhanced copy of the nutritional value of artemia, without the complications of using a live product. 2) What is the difference between the new product and the original EZ Artemia? New smaller size and improved formulation to replace 100% of artemia vs. 70% of replacement with the original product. 3) What sizes are available? EZ Artemia is available in two sizes. 50-200 micron and 300-500 micron. The 50-200 is to be used from Zoea 1 until PL 2. This sizing makes it much easier for early stage larva to feed on vs. artemia nauplii (which is around 300 micron in size). Our 300-500 micron size should be used from PL 3 to harvest. It is the ideal size for larva that are accustomed to feeding on larger live artemia or enriched biomass.
It is a liquid diet that is virtually neutrally buoyant, permitting it to stay in the water column with the minimum of aeration. It is a microcapsule that does not leach into the water causing fouling or nutritional loss. 8) What other benefits can be seen over traditional diets? A liquid diet has a soft texture that is easily accepted by the larva. EZ Artemia is processed with low temperatures to preserve the quality of its ingredients during manufacturing. Probiotics are added to aid in larval digestion, water quality and pathogen control. 9) How can EZ Artemia help with biosecurity in a hatchery? Hatched artemia is a known vector of many pathogenic bacteria. Biosecurity is aided by using EZ Artemia to reduce the introduction of pathogens into your production tank. In frequent testing EZ Artemia has been shown to be free of all known shrimp pathogens.
4) What % of natural artemia will it replace?
10) Does this product need any special storage such as with artemia?
In production trials where it was tested at a 100% replacement for artemia, EZ Artemia gave better results with higher survivals, larger PLs and faster growth of shrimp larvae than controls fed with artemia.
The product has a shelf life of 1-2 years if kept in a cool location (22 degrees C). It can be refrigerated, but not frozen. Open containers can be used up to 6 weeks if maintained inside a refrigerator.
5) What is the proportion of EZ Artemia to Kgs of artemia cysts (80% hatch-out)?
11) How do you feed it?
1 kg of EZ Artemia replaces artemia derived from hatching 1 kg of cysts. 1:1
Simply shake the jug well, pour a dose of EZ Artemia into a beaker of water and feed to tank. Nothing could be EZer!!!
6) How does this product save the hatchery money? EZ Artemia does not need any extra personnel, tanks, pumps, blowers or freezer space associated with hatching artemia. This all adds up to a cost of $15/kg in addition to the cost of the cysts. It has also been shown that the use of EZ Artemia can cut up to 3 days of the length of the culture cycle due to the faster growth rate it promotes. This can save the producer several hundred dollars/million PLs produced.

Super-intensive Shrimp Grower Feeds
“ZI” Series - Zero Exchange
Zeigler worked with top industry producers to develop diets for super-intensive systems that utilize zero or very low water exchange and bio-floc technologies. Zero water exchange production strategies are used to increase efficiency of production by reducing effluents, using higher stock densities (130-150/m²); increasing bio-security, and generating high pond crop yields in the range of 20 -25 MT/ha/crop. There are several factors affecting the success of this new technology, but perhaps none more important than the care and feeding of the animals as well as the bio-floc; feed is the primary driver of the system. Zeigler formulated a superior complete feed to compliment carbon addition for the development and maintenance of a heterotrophic ecosystem. The “ZI” Series diets are proven to generate high harvest yields and improved profitability. Our R & D Team continues to perfect feeds for low environmental impact, high yield, and bio-secure systems.

Feed as the only feed in intensive systems stocked at densities in the range of 100 to 1,000 animals/m2 or m3. Continuous feeding is highly recommended because it is the nature of shrimp to feed continuously, also negative impacts on water quality are materially reduced when continuous feeding is practiced. If it is not practical or possible to feed continuously then the daily ration should be fed in equal proportions and at equal intervals throughout the day, as frequently as possible. Best if used within nine (9) months from date of manufacture. Store in cool, dry, well ventilated area. Rotate stock to use the old feed first – “first in, first out” principle. Keep bags stacked on pallets to prevent feed from being in direct contact with damp floors and walls. Avoid exposure to insects, pests and direct sunlight.

Vpak (Vitality Pak) is an all natural, highly purified nutritional pack that has been shown to materially improve survival and production yields in cultured shrimp. Based on the principles of “Nutritional Immunology, Vpak uses a unique blend selected nutrients and natural bioactive substances to materially reduce the impact of stress and increase disease resistance. Vpak is not a therapeutic, but rather a completely non-toxic activator of the non-specific immune system. “The non-specific immune response is characterized by a rapid deployment of humoral and cellular defense mechanisms without prior recognition of the infectious agent. ,ABORATORY &IELD TRIAL Nutrition and immune modulation in aquatic animals.
