ITS TIME... Lets face it, as we live in a world riddled with contradictions, overloaded with information and filled with injustice and instability, we often times do not know what to think, what to do or where to stand. Most of us have hectic lives, juggling school, jobs, family along with many other things, we often lack the time to process and reflect on what is happening in the world and even our own experiences - as most of us simply wanted to live a stable and stress-free life. However, inaction would not be suitable for a world that is constantly changing. Perhaps we do not have the exact answers or explanations for those things that are happening, but the most important thing is that we need to... stay awake. As most of us have awaken from keeping up with the news, but staying awake is about being fully aware of our environment and state of being, and making intuitive decisions based on our own reflections, judgement and values. In other words, we need to have mental freedom. The Tourist, Purist, and Escapist are three different lifestyles that reprensent this idea of staying awake in this fast-changing and confusing world. Each of them will embody a different essence and outlook on the life that we are leading today.
TO WAKE UP 1
THE TOURIST The tourist embraces the all the craziness that is happening in the world in a optimistic manner as he believes the future is bright. As social media has opened our eyes to the vast world more than ever, the tourists enjoys the diversity of life and culture and is a restless wanderer who wants to see all the possibilities that life has to offer. The usage of pop colors is evident of the tourist’s playful attitude, as well as the nostalgia of the past decades, where life was deemed to be more carefree and wild. Many vintage motifs and patterns such as colorblocking, mismatched prints, florals and tie dye are going to return to signify the fun times of the past.

THE PURIST The Purist is not overly affected by the trends and movements that is occurring as he adheres to his own set of values, often traditional. He would have minimal use or be unplugged from social media as he believes it to be hindering and toxic. He does believe in a positive future, but not too overly optimistic about it. He is up to date with the news but would process the information in a logical and practical manner. The purist will spend time in solitude and meditation to remind himself of his roots and values. The green and the blue is symbolic of calm and peace, as the purist will continue to seek after. The neutral colors will ground the brighter colors as a reminder to the purist to not be overly optimistic and tread carefully in this chaotic world. The motifs and patterns are mostly organic as the purist is always in touch with nature.

THE ESCAPIST The escapist wants to escape from all the madness happening in the world. He does not follow the contemporary trends and will follow trend that are related to innovation and futuristic thinking. As the world looks back into time for nostalgia and reference, the escapist only looks towards the future for inspiration. The escapist will have tendency to believe that the world will be doomed, but perhaps there is hope outside of the world; triggering his fascination with space exploration in the approaching neo-space age. The deep blue, green and ultraviolet represent the colors of space and the future beyond that the escapist often wonders about. The two brighter color of blue and gold represents the escapist’s dream of escaping from the harsh reality, even if it is short-lived. Most of the motifs and patterns do not take references from the past but are futuristic in nature, which embodies the escapist attitude.
