IFSO 2023 CHILEAN PROPOSAL
Dear Directors, International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders IFSO We are proud to present Chile to host the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity & Metabolic Disorders – IFSO 2023 world congress. We have the certainty that our country would be the perfect place to host the IFSO world Congress because of the great development that our country has maintained on the last 10 years; including modern growth on infrastructure, first class international and national hotel accommodations, economic and social stability for the benefit of tourism, among other aspects that make Chile the ideal country to host the IFSO World Congress on 2023. Furthermore, few countries in the world can offer the diversity of touristic destinations that Chile offers. Here, visitors have the possibility of living great travel experiences, from the driest desert in the world to the ice fields in the Patagonia, from the tropical weather on Easter Island to the urban streets of the capital city Santiago. Our capital has earned an outstanding status, known for being a clean, organized, safe and modern city. Chile has a rich scientific background contribution in the field of bariatric surgery , not only in Latin America but also to the world; which has been widely demonstrated by the number of active Chilean members of IFSO that participate actively in every IFSO world congress in the past. Bringing the IFSO Congress to Chile would be an honor but also a well deserved achievement. The latest National Health statistics made in Chile in the year 2017, indicates that 74% of the Chilean population is overweight and the 32% is obese. Chile ranks second most obese countries in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and is only surpassed by the United States, constituting a primordial public health issue in our homeland. The hosting of the IFSO 2023 World Congress in Chile means to provide the opportunity to promote and enhance the guidelines of the obesity treatment on Latin America and the importance of a multidisciplinary management. CONVENTION CENTER
Santiago Business & Conference Center, the convention center located in Parque Titanium, is a top-level venue for events of diverse conventions. It has about three kilometers of bikeway on the southside of Mapocho River, which connects the already existing sections of the city's most extensive bicycle transport network.
