IDENTIFYING DEVICE IN AN XRAY DEVICE COMPONENTS The X-ray image will show these two components of the device, the Spring and the Cylinder. The position of the Spring, with respect to the Cylinder, demonstrates what state the device is in.

Ignore these elements when reading your X-ray. It is normal that the Activation Button shaft and the Deactivation Button shaft are not always perfectly aligned as they are two separate pieces

Cylinder : Purple Spring: Green

DEVICE DEACTIVATED Spring is compressed and sits below the mid-line, meaning that it sits in line with the minus sign.

DEVICE ACTIVE AND FUNCTIONING Top of spring sits at the top of the cylinder.

Device is active and functioning

DEVICE ACTIVATED - SPRING DECOMPRESSED Top of spring sits above the top of the cylinder due to either: - Urethral atrophia - Air was left in the device during preparation. Spring has decompressed too much.

DEVICE ACTIVATED - SPRING FULLY DECOMPRESSED Spring is fully decompressed due to: - Urethral erosion and/or necrosis, or - Saline solution has leaked from the device
