STEP 1 HYDRAULIC CIRCUIT Saline Solution in Blue Empty Cuff

Perform a 5ml vacuum and check that the pump button and the cuff are empty and deflated. Inject 5.2 ml of saline solution. Remove the bubbles from the pump unit.

Empty Pump Button

Why to inject 5.2ml? Injecting 5.2ml of saline solution is sufficient and in most cases there is no need to adjust the volume of saline solution while performing the test of the device after the cuff has been implanted, as, ideally, the spring will be sitting just a little under the midline. It is normal for remnants of air bubbles to be present in the hydraulic circuit, which is part of the pump unit. Usually they are not visible to the naked eye because they are obscured by the pump unit. After a few weeks these small air bubbles will seep out of the pump unit, which will relieve some of the pressure of the device, leaving the top of the spring level with the mid-line.

STEP 2 COMPENSATION POUCH Saline Solution in Purple Empty Cuff

Empty Pump Button (press the button to help if needed)

Perform a 5ml vacuum and check that the spring is compressed and the cuff is empty. (Help it by pressing and releasing the pump button if needed) Inject the 5ml of saline solution. Do not remove the bubbles.
