New Season - New Energy with Ray Pawlett

At the beginning of the year, I wrote an article called ‘New Year - New You - No thanks!’ In that article, I spoke about how many New Year resolutions finish in failure because they are out of sync with Nature and the world around us.

In the winter time, Nature is hibernating and we want to do the same. New health regimes are not usually top priority when the daylight hours sometimes don’t reach double figures and the weather is too cold for even the brass monkeys to go out! In the world of Nature winter time is a period of resting, hibernation and quiet.

If we look out of our windows or go for a walk outside now, you can hardly miss the fact that Nature is waking up with new life. After the quiet phase, the plants and animals are just getting on with it. The sap is rising and it’s time to wake up from the winter. So how do we get involved and tune into this feeling? It might start with spring cleaning. Lent or restricting your diet could be seen as an opportunity to spring clean your body. It’s also a time of fertility – farmers and gardeners are getting busy – just like the birds and the bees. Thinking about traditional springtime activities and observing nature is a very good start.

Or you could try a more personal approach. In my 30+ years in the world of healing and helping, I have made many observations. One is that most people actually know what they need for a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle. They just don’t do it. You can pay people a lot of money to skirt around the issue but deep down most people know what they need – to give up smoking, eat less sugar, slow down, do some cardio or whatever. To quote the band Pink Floyd – ‘No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.’

Well, here it is. Reading this article will have already triggered the question in your mind about what you need. There is an inner dialogue along the lines of ‘Well, I know that I need to do (-------), but I can’t because of (------).’

Bang! There’s your starting pistol! Don’t think about it – just get out there and do it! Join the renewing forces of springtime and get on with whatever you need to refresh your physical, emotional and spiritual vitality.
