In the library on Sunday, the focus will be on adventures and the environment with Hocus Pocus Puppet Theatre performing the magical tale Like a Tree, told with handmade puppets and a vintage pram mini theatre. The story touches on climate change, beginning with the growth of a new sapling. At the same time, a child is born and their lives entwine. The piece is suitable for all ages. Performances on Sunday at 1.30pm, 2.45pm & 4pm (booking not required however maximum numbers will apply). On Saturday we’re all about awesome animals and mighty beasts in our StoryLab. On Saturday, come craft your own wings and join Darren Rawnsley as he spins the tale of ‘Golden Wings for Ademena’ in an interactive storytelling session. Ademena sends Bob the Weaver on a magical journey to an unknown land full of busy narrow streets, dappled sunshine and the Darren Rawnsley scent of a thousand roses in search of the gold dust required to weave wings. Sunday’s art workshop is inspired by our Tall Tales Treasure Hunt and the magical mischief makers of Hogwarts, as we make our own marvellous Maps. Sessions run throughout the afternoon. Drop-in workshops, booking not required but maximum numbers will apply.

Animal dance party

Continuing our animal-tastic Saturday, Laura Samson will be leading the fun and games and then welcoming Hannah Gold, author of The Last Bear and winner of the Blue Peter Book Awards 2022. We’ll be celebrating the upcoming release of David Walliams’ World’s Worst Pets in our Wall of Fame and finishing off our creature extravaganza with an Animal Dance Party for all the family, led by DJ Paul of Sparkarama and inspired by well-loved favourites such as Giraffes Can’t Dance, Everybunny Dance and Dinosaurumpus.
