Targa Wrest Point - fourth again! The last weekend in January saw the Neil Buckby Subaru MotorsportTeam of Ben Newman and Crichton Lewis, successfully compete inTarga Wrest Point 2012. Held in the Huon area, south of Hobart, the Subaru team came home a solid fourth place again, making this their third fourth position in a row for the team.
Day One: The main challenges for this day were the Tahune Airwalk stages that were completed by going in and out of the area twice. It was made up of close to 100 kilometres of high speed racing on challenging tarmac roads. The day was successful with a great run through the town of Longley as the day’s highlight. DayTwo: Day two was held in the Cygnet area where most of the stages had changed from the previous Targa Wrest Point in 2011. Again a strong and consistent performance got the team to the finish line unscathed. TargaTasmania 2012: The Neil Buckby Motorsport Team is really looking forward to the ‘Big One’, Targa Tasmania 2012. This has been the aim of the team for the last few years to compete in this iconic event. Unfortunately, after last year’s mishap, the team’s aspirations of competing in Targa Tasmania 2011 ended. So bring it on!!! Neil Buckby Motors supply course cars to Targa... We are proud to be supporting Targa Tasmania 2012 by supplying five current Subaru WRX’s and STI’s which will be used as course cars. These cars were used in January for the first time at Targa Wrest Point in Hobart and were very well received by all those who had the enviable task of driving them. Look out for the Neil Buckby Motors Subaru official course cars in the Targa Tasmania 2012 event which commences on Monday 16th April in Launceston and concludes on Sunday 22nd April in Hobart.
The All-New 2013 Subaru BRZ Subaru have announced that the new and highly anticipated BRZ sports coupe will be available in Australia later this year. The BRZ is a sleek, rear wheel drive, two-door coupe and will become Subaru Australia’s only front drive model in its range. All other models are All Wheel Drive. Subaru Australia Managing Director, Nick Senior said overwhelming demand from customers and dealers outweighed the fact that the BRZ does not fit with his company’s “All 4 the Driver” brand slogan. The BRZ is a light weight design, powered by the new SUBARU BOXER engine that sits lower and further back, enhancing more torque and better handling.

It has a low-bonnet design with bulging guards which add to the sporty appeal. The car will be equipped with electronic stability control, six-speed manual and automatic transmission, sports car seats and steering wheel, and digitally displayed instruments. Since the unveiling of the BRZ in Tokyo in December 2011, Subaru have been astonished with the level of interest in this model. The price should also be under $50,000 which makes this sports car even more attractive. New Subaru MY12 Impreza - different from the ground up
The wait is over. The new generation Subaru Impreza has arrived, packed with cutting-edge technology, features and style. It has taken significant steps forward in efficiency, quality and overall refinement. It will become the first mainstream small car to come with stop/start engine technology across the range. The new feature is among a number of enhancements that make it at least 20 per cent more fuel efficient than the model it replaces.

1,000,000th Land Rover Discovery produced Jaquar Land Rover has produced its 1,000,000th Land Rover Discovery at its manufacturing plant in the UK. To celebrate this amazing milestone, Land Rover will showcase the Discovery’s unique versatility and breadth of capability by embarking on an expedition from its birthplace in Birmingham, UK to one of its fastest growing markets, Beijing in China which commenced on 29th February and concludes 23rd April. This adventure will take the team of four Land Rover Experience experts over 8,000 miles, through 13 countries in 50 days, where they will tackle all weather and all terrain. The expedition aims to raise £1million for the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Land Rover’s most ambitious fundraising project ever. The money will be used to support a much needed water sanitation project in Uganda. Production of the 1,000,000th Land Rover Discovery comes 23 years after Land Rover introduced its original model. The Discovery has picked up more than 200 awards around the world and last year saw record sales of almost 45,000 units across 170 worldwide markets. Since it first came on the market as a third model to sit in between the luxurious Range Rover and rugged Defender, it has carved its own market segment and become an international success story.
Michael wins Statewide Series Title Neil Buckby Motors Assistant Sales Manager, Michael Warren, has recently been crowned theTasmanian Karting Champion in theTAG Restricted Heavy Division for 2012. Michael won this prestigious Go-Kart title at ArchervilleKartway in March. This is a huge reward for Michael (pictured on the right) as he has only been racing for 12 months. His next challenge will be the National Go-Kart Championships to be held in Victoria in August. We would also like to congratulate Neil Buckby Motors First Year Automotive Apprentice Jack Pickett for his effort in coming third in the highly competitive Clubman Heavy class. Brendan Brown Brendan Brown is our most senior Mercedes-Benz Technician at Neil Buckby Motors. He started his career in 2004, working just one day a week at Neil Buckby Motors whilst still at school. His work ethic and enthusiasm were quickly identified and he was offered a full time position as Apprentice Technician at the end of that year. Brendan completed his apprenticeship and after more intense training became a specialized Mercedes-Benz Technician. Mercedes-Benz has a comprehensive training program in Melbourne which trains technicians in using their state-of-the-art, sophisticated diagnostic equipment. Brendan is always kept up to date with any new Mercedes-Benz technology which is constantly evolving. Brendan is a member of the Neil Buckby Motors Racing Team as support crew. He has travelled to Mt Bulla, Victoria for Targa High Country in November 2011, and to Hobart for Targa Wrest Point in February 2012. The next race is the much acclaimed Targa Tasmania in April 2012. We congratulate Brendan for his hard work and dedication to this crucial part of our business.

GREAT WALL MOTORS are e thrilled with their recent effort in the Dakar Rally 2012, finishing in 7th position. A Haval SUV was used for the third Dakar Rally in a row. This model is the Australian version of the Great Wall X200 Turbo Diesel SUV. The car was driven by the very experienced Carlos Souza of Portugal, who had previously competed in this race 12 times, finished 11 times and ranked in the top 10. Dakar Rally is famous for being the most grueling and difficult motorsport rally on earth. It is a household name attracting the close attention of approximately 500 million people around the world. It was held in South America in January, covering three countries, Argentina, Chile and Peru over 15 days. A total of 173 racing teams competed in the car category with approximately 75 withdrawals as the race progressed. To finish the demanding race is certainly not guaranteed. To finish in 7th position is nothing short of extraordinary and a sign of GREAT things to come from GREAT WALL MOTORS.
