That’s Rich Myers’ top Yorkshire eats
JÖRO in Sheffield is a great restaurant and one of the best meals I’ve had in my life. The chef, Luke French, has been on The Great British Menu. Behind the curtain in Leeds, which has a Michelin star, is also a favourite.

Some of the best pizza you’ll find anywhere (and I’ve eaten pizza in many places) is at Pizza Loco in Roundhay in Leeds. And generally, for Italian, Stuzzy, which has branches in Harrogate and Leeds, is a winner.

For someone who has been described as Britain’s rudest baker, the 34-yearold certainly doesn’t come across that way in person and I wonder if his straight-talking social media persona has been somewhat misconstrued.
For doughnuts head to Doh’hut in Leeds. It used to be based out of a food truck, but there’s now a store in Trevelyan Square.
“It’s a common misconception and a funny coincidence, but I’ve never read the book or seen the film,” he insists. “I can’t tell you exactly why it’s called Bruce because not even my wife knows that, but it is named after someone, just not Bruce Bogtrotter.”
The impressive cake has attracted a barrage of fans and spawned a number of side products including Bruce’s Balls (cake tru es made from Bruce), Jar of Bruce (Bruce’s components in a jar), Bruce Pudding (a chocolate pudding version served warm), and even a Bruce
“I’m not a rude person, I was brought up with very good manners and have always been respectful of people, but I’m not afraid to be myself,” insists Rich, admitting that he had been diagnosed with quite severe Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). “As a child, I suppressed a lot of what was me, but as I’ve got older I don’t care if people think I’m a bit weird or don’t like my style as there are plenty of people who do.
“There’s certainly a misconception that I’m o ensive, but I’m not. I guess it’s just my tone – I’m very straight talking, but that’s just a northern thing. And I am, absolutely, unapologetically northern.”
