Jonathan Spencer, founder of Rustic Revive, on creating furniture unique to you

Q When did Rustic Revive start and what inspired its launch?

A Rustic Revive started back in 2016 from a tiny outhouse at my home address. I used to work full time as a HGV technician on shifts, which was very hard to juggle. It’s very true what they say – you get out what you put in. I’ve always had a passion for design and making things, being a welder in my full-time job turned out to be very handy as I was able to adapt and develop this skill into furniture making.

In 2020 I took the jump, took on an industrial unit and quit my full-time job to focus 100% on Rustic Revive. After a year we outgrew the premises and moved to a larger unit, which allowed us to have a showroom that’s open to the public. This is great as it allows customers to physically see what we do and see the quality for themselves.

Q How do you believe you are di erent from other furniture companies?

A Unlike a lot of major furniture stores we hand craft all of our furniture on site from scratch, using high quality materials. We work with the customer, so they get exactly what they want and don’t send anything out unless it's perfect. We pride ourselves on good customer service –our reviews speak for themselves.

Q How does your bespoke service work?

A Simply get in touch via any of our platforms and we will ask all the right questions to make sure you get exactly what you want. For example, if you have a specific space in your home or business and need either a custom size unit or table etc, we can make sure your commission fits the space. As well as this we have all our products on our website to purchase in standard sizes.

We can work around building works and home improvements so you get the furniture when you need it. When it's ready we personally deliver it and put the piece in place. To place and order it's only 25% deposit upfront then nothing to pay till completion.

Q Can you give us an example of a unique commission you have taken on?

A We have done some amazing projects from small alcove units to full restaurant refits. Last year we designed some stunning outdoor picnic benches and a custom table swing set for Newcastle Quayside. We have also put these in restaurants, they really do stand out.

Q What tips would you o er anyone looking to buy a bespoke piece of furniture?

A Contact us via any platform or give us a call, if you have seen something you like and can’t get it the right size this is the perfect time to contact us. You can send us pictures of items you have seen so we can see what you are looking for and what style you like. If you are close enough visit our showroom and we can sit down with you and discuss the piece. Don’t be fooled by poor quality furniture that won’t last from large stores, have peace of mind and buy from Rustic Revive for furniture that will last a lifetime.

Q What interior trends can we expect in 2023?

A Industrial style furniture is here to stay, it never looks out of place in any setting and can be designed and made into so many di erent styles. We see it in person in so many homes and businesses. rusticrevive.co.uk

The most up-to-the-minute trend in interior design is wood panelling for walls. The use of thin wooden slats to cover walls serves a purely aesthetic function, but transmits the warmth and personality of the original material to the rooms. The collection is available in cypress, ash and oak tones. Moreover, it is an ideal complement to any other series, since it can be installed on an
