Think Pink! Think Zeta! This year the Beta Lambda sisters celebrated Breast Cancer Education and Awareness month by scheduling a week filled with different events. Pink Week started off with a pink tailgate at the University of Louisville vs. University of Central Florida game. Sisters passed out pink ribbons, self-

examination shower cards, and pink pom-poms to all of those tailgating. Members of the marching band, cheerleading team, and football team wore pink in support. Our next event was named “Sweets in the ZTA Suite” in which all sisters donated baked goods and sold the desserts to raise money for our philanthropy. It was great to have the greek and non-greek community come to our brand new suite in Cardinal Town in support of a great cause. Throughout the week, sisters passed out pink ribbons and sold ribbons in memory or support of someone who has battled breast cancer. Our last event was our 3rd annual Yoplait Yogurt Eating Contest. Members or fraternities and other organizations participated in our contest. We were very happy with the turn out of this year’s pink week!#

Importance of Big & Little Many parents often wonder what the importance of a big and little relationship is if they have never been a part of greek life. A sister is forever a friend. A Big is a sister that is assigned to a new member within the first few weeks of their new member period. That new member then becomes the sister’s Little. The Big-Little relationship creates a family lineage. These family trees expand and continue to grow for many generations. The purpose of the Big during the new member period is to act as a mentor for their

Little. It is their duty to help the new member adjust to greek life and answer questions that their Littles might have regarding the chapter, the sorority, college, or with life in general. Bigs are the littles biggest supporters! Littles can offer a variety of things for their Bigs as well. The Big and Little relationship is a reciprocal relationship of love and affection.
! NFL & ZTA’s Tackle Breast Cancer Zeta Tau Alpha was proud to team with the National Football League’s “A Crucial Catch” campaign for the 2013 season and spread the message of breast cancer awareness to professional football fans. In collaboration with the American Cancer Society, the initiative reminds women 40 and older about the importance of having an annual mammogram. The campaign began on October 2, 2013 and continued throughout the month of October. NFL breast cancer awareness games featured game balls with pink ribbon decals used for every down, pink equipment for players, pink coins for the coin toss, pink sideline caps for coaches and sideline personnel, pink ribbon pins for coaches and team executives, pink caps, !3

Sister Spotlight!
Alumnae Spotlight A big “Thank You” to our alumnae sister, Clare Souleyrette, for coaching our intramural volleyball team!
Our sister, Demi Becton, is the president of the Kentucky Education Association at UofL. She organized a fundraiser in which people donated christmas gifts for children who live in extreme poverty in Africa. Each person who donated was given information for a specific child so that gifts were personalized. The children’s ages ranged from two to seven years old. 84 children very given a sponsor for Christmas! Demi is an amazing woman and we are very lucky to have her as a sister! We are so proud of you! Not to mention, she even made top 5 for Homecoming Queen! Thank you for all that you do! You truly inspire your sisters!

Sisterhood Retreat Sisterhood retreat is the weekend that all our sisters look forward to. It is the time that we separate ourselves from our busy lives and dedicate our time to each other. Retreat is the time that we remember how strong of a bond we share together as sisters. We participate in multiple activities that allow us to step out of our comfort zone, encourage one another, work on team building, and create fun memories. One of the best things about retreat are the “Warm & Fuzzy Bags. Every sister writes her name and decorates a paper bag to be filled with little love notes. All sisters leave retreat feeling more confident and loving their sisters even more!
