Dear Recruiter, I am a young architect whom achieve Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design degree from Columbia GSAPP on May 2016, and get "Honor Award For Excerllence in Design" in GSAPP. Before that I received my B. Arch degree(5-year) from Huaqiao University in China. With my masters degree and around 1.5 year working experience in several famous architecture design firms, I want to apply for full-time junior architectural designer position.
APPLICATION FOR JUNIOR ARCHITECT WEIYAO ZHANG
I have experiences in: ·3 months Revit working experience about SD, DD and CD for residential and restaurant design at GRO Architects ·2 months CAD working experience about CD for public school renovation at Heritage Architecture ·1 month villa and interior design working experience at OLI architecture. ·10 months internship experience, including Asymptote architecture, vector architects, BIAD which is the largest architecture firm in China, and AXS Satow, a top 10 architecture firm in Japan. ·Projects I did during the internship are public buildings like museum, stadium, sports center, convention center. ·Program skill: Expertly using Revit, Rhino, T-splines, grasshopper, sketch up, vary, 3D-Max, adobe software and Microsoft office, etc, and Fluent in English spoken and written, Native in Chinese. In university, I have taken on many additional responsibilities. In Huaqiao University, I’m the monitor in my class and managed some class activities. In my junior year I leaded some student architecture competitions with 4-8 people and got awards like 1st Prize in “The City of Light Architecture Culture Festival ”. I received first-hand experience in organization, teamwork and responsibility. I learned that to manage your work flow clearly is very important. For instance, the team should set up rules that could be shared with all the members. And also, it is necessary to communicate with other members efficiently and frequently, especially when we have some problems or the deadline approaches, each member should calm down and solve the problems together. I hope that you will seriously consider my enclosed résumé and work sample, which provides full details of my qualification. Please feel free to contact me if you need additional information or I could have chance to meet with you! Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hear from you.
Sincerely, Weiyao Zhang

court room typology
We thinks about creating a special performance space for the city, a stage for every citizen. So we came up with the idea of designing a courthouse, which is a government institution that presents reality shows that has significant influence on people’s daily life.

PROJECT 4 The cutting is too c ompl i c at e d , w h i c h i s obstacle for function organization and the movement of massing.
PROJECT 1 Patterns are lack of variety, which is not benefit to the richness of space organization.
PROJECT 2 T h e f or ms are c l e an as a whole. However, different cutting shapes is not convenient for the control of structure and function.
PROJECT 5 Space of the container is not enoug h to meet t h e re qu i re m e nt of an exhibition building.
PROJECT 3-1 PROJECT 6-1
Cutting pattern is concise. Still too ordinary because of the lack of variety for the whole configuration.
A fine pattern for its powerful sense as small pieces assembled together.
PROJECT 6-2
PROJECT 3-2 The pattern after cutting is suitable for the following design of park. Nevertheless, small scale is a limitation for the development.
The whole pattern has a huge limitation on the cutting mode, which lead the space to be scattered. Moreover, some parts are too small to perform fully function.

ACADEMIC WORK INDIVIDUAL PROJECT
The site is located in the historical part of Xiamen, where the lack of public space has dramatically limited the development of the location. In that, I hope the skyscraper could combine the urgently needed public space for citizen in the cultural part. At the same time, I wish the symbolic masterpieces could arouse architects' attention to the problem of architecture similarity in city development. The reason why I selected so many masterpieces is that I want to improve the identifiability of specific public space. And more importantly, these classical space represent typical spatial forms of specific public buildings. I want to test the possibility of mixing these program and spatial form in vertical. Even though it's a little radical and scare-free.

The aim of our project is to transform the articulation of different social groups, especially emphasizing the role of the street as a catalyst of social network. We regard street as a platform of social network. There are two main strategies which are architecture typological correction and urban squatting. We want to build a social housing network based on urban existing condition in order to transform the articulation of different social groups.

This building located at the seashore of Jiangmen which is a city famous for it's banian trees. So we use banian trees as the start of concept and abstract it as the form of column. And then , we link column together to generate the roof and open louver cooperate with colum to generate a lighting, forest-like interior space.
