Inside the Roundabout Concert in the center of Loreto
Loreto is a important traffic node with a roundabount and two metro lines. On the ground floor, he heavy traffic brings polution and noise; in underground the corridors are narrow and gloom. In second floor underground Line 1 tunnel should be preserved. The strategy is to put a foyer in the center as a buffer zone in between the city and the concert, which could bring light into underground and become an open space in weekdays, and it is protected by surrounding boxes and windows from the noies and pollution of the roundabount.

new function beside historical buildings
The topic is the regeneration of the Campo sportivo and we had freedom to choose builiding site. We choose a mild strategy —— adding functions related with the orginal building, so that the new and the old would have chance to work together; Toward another side the building is cantileverd out to have a better view and more chance to be exposed to the villages in down.

Sleeping by the river
Residential Design Beside The Xiangjiang River
Changsha embraces unique natural resources, such as green hills, river and island. Unfortunately, they seem have nothing to do with people's daily life and people'd rather Livie in a high-rise, drink red wine and watch the night of the city In this design, I try to explore a poetic rlationship with nature. What if we can fall asleep with the the sound of wave? What if we can read in swaying reeds? What if we can take a shower with the scenery of falling maples?

Instead of experiencing nature, nowadays people only overlook it from tall buildings or dike, without any care about when the maple turning red, how the water level changing, when the migratory birds arriving and leaving every year. Considering this, I would like to design a small hotel by the Xiangjiang River, and it will be a special place for stressful urban residents to relax their body and mind and refocus on nature.

In order to prevent flood, decades ago there built a dam and dike, the level of the water become stable but the connection between people and water was cut off.

Less, but more
Nature is rich and varied, plants are growth, colors and wind are changing, water level is fluctuating. So if there is a house in nature it should be simple enough to ensure the dominance of nature. Meanwhile, there is no need to emphasize a broad perspective (what people can get every day on the dike), conversely, by obstructing the buildings, a pure natural space is created. People see less, but they may think more.

Since the barrier of dike, people just pass by in a hurry and pay attention to nature.
If there is a piece of shade, people can establish a simple link with nature.
If there is a small house full of sunshine, a long-lasting connection with nature could be build.
The house is located on a gentle slope beside the Xiangjiang River, surrounded by trees.
Through cutting, pushing and pulling of blocks, nature could penetrate into the house
Stretching walls to protects indoor privacy and obstruct the view of high buildings.
Extended walls restrict sights from the north and south directions, protecting indoor privacy. Meanwhile, applying trees on the west side to block sights, enables the possibility of removing the east and west walls, so that, nature can penetrate into the interior.
The distance between walls and the height of roofs is changing, creating a special space sequence.
Setting service space, such as kitchen, bathroom and storeroom between walls, creating a pure space for the living room.

The scenery and the activities of animals change over time and people can come to live for several days from time to time to experience different atmosphere of the place.
In hot summer, the extended flat roof can reflect sunlight. The moveable windows and ventilated floor ensure a well ventilated environment, and the water under the floor can also cool the interior.
30
In cold winter, the living room works as a buffer zone, meanwhile, the movable heat-retaining glass in the bedroom can play a good insulation effect.
Dry Season
Rainy Season
The east side of the building is an elastic space defined by furniture, walls and nature. During dry season, the water level is low and various plants grow freely, also, people can have a party, barbecue and art show over there.
During the rainy season with high water level, the higher living room accommodates many activities. As land becomes moist, plants will grow through the steel plates and create new atmosphere of the interior space.
Seldom
Every Decades
In a few days when the water level is higher than normal, The river, together with fishes and shrimps may enter the house. During this period, the courtyard and bedroom is the main living area.
During the flood season, people can live on the second floor where has a higher view. The interlayer beneath the second floor can store some basic living stuffs.
The movable waterproof door can protect kitchen and other electrical equipments. In addition, another important time to understand this hotel may be twenty years later, the tides of the river left traces on the walls, the plants and animals strike a new balance with people, maybe the house won't be truly finished until then.

I hope this hotel will become a "emergency exit", where sentimental people stay for a period of time, thinking quietly and without distraction, and then leave. However, the hotel has been here all the time, waiting for their return.

Breathing with the mountain Design of Campus Gymnasium
Hunan university can date back to a thousand year ago, when it was found at the foot of Yuelu Mountain. Nowadays there are two universities lying at the foot of the mountain, they have no fences and the overall layout of them change according to the mountains. As a campus gymnasium which is situated between the Yanjia hill and the Yuelu Mountain, how to respond to the context is a key problem.

Hunan University, Normal University, residents, tourists and mountains interweave wonderfully here. This is also the unique place of the site: students carry schoolbags and slowly walk on the path day by day under the gaze of the mountains. Tourists roam on the busy and noisy snack street at the foot of the mountain. Residents' houses are built on the hill. The mountain has shaped the unique soul of this place.
The east and west sides of the site are the main travel routes for students, tourists and residents.
The site is wide open, with excellent mountain view.
There are a cluster of teaching buildings on the north and south of the side.On the west side, there are many small houses built on the hill.
It is a sport ground, including basketball court, badminton court and runway at present.
39
Atmosphere
The venue reminds me of the remote Theater of Delph, where the rough material of the theatre is in perfect harmony with the mountains that have stood for millions of years. Besides, the nearby teaching buildings use a lot of granitic plaster with Xiang River grit, creating a rough atmosphere. Therefore, the design focus on continuing the heaviness and the sense of eternity of the place.
40
Scale
Interestingly, there is a gradual change of scale around the site from west to east, from small-scale residential buildings in the west to medium-scale teaching buildings in the middle, and then to Yanjiashan in the east. So I I try to weaken the size of the campus instead of simly placing a large-scale building to achieve a balance.
41
Generate
Simply inserting a large-span building will become a barrier on the site.
Cut into three blocks, the second hall, the rest hall and the main hall.
Turn around the main hall and the second hall to shape small squares in the four corners of the site
Using unit to further diminish the size of the building and the gaps between units become entrances
Since the high requirement of the clear height for sport space and the lower requirement for the serve space, the arch form is used as a structural unit to fit the function
The cross section is catenary, which makes the force transfer path more reasonable. Shrink one side of the unit to enrich planar combinations
Sinusoidal curve is used to control the longitudinal section, strengthen the stiffness of the structure and solve the drainage problem.
Combine different height units, providing natural lighting and naturally form entrances and long windows
Site
The movable seats can be stowed to accommodate more sports activities
The secondary entrance of the main hall directly face to path and the entrance square sinks three meters so that students can enter the court directly while students from the north can go to the seat area through the main enrance directly.

43
Function
There is already a campus gymnasium in the north, which undertakes most of the functions of assembly, administration and competition.
As this gymnasium is closer to the dormitory, it should take more responsibility to become a place for students to exercise and relax in daily life.
