LIFT LAMP Completed in 2017

Introduction This project was completed in the last year of my university. The design challenge is how to make playful and emotional interactions between the furniture and the users. The inspiration comes from the drawers' light. The user has direct control of turning on the light and its brightness. This control can create interesting interactions. For the "lift lamp", once the cover is moved up, the light shows. The user can change the brightness of the light by moving the cover. The process of lifting the cover creates an interesting interaction and a fun experience.

Moon Lamp Furniture Design Completed in 2017
Description This project was completed in the last year of my university. The topic of this project is to create poesies design in a home accessory. I try to find the elements of nature and integrated them into the home accessory and design an interesting interaction between the users and the accessory. The poesies would be created by the beauty of nature and the process of the interaction. The inspiration comes from the moon. Every night the shape of the moon is different because of the position of the earth. Different shapes of the moon create different emotions. I think if a lamp could bring the imagery of the moon into the users' room, by changing the shape of the light the user could create their own moon and different emotions. The poesies are revealed in this interaction and the beauty of the imagery of the moon.
Hex Furniture Design Completed in 2015
Design Features This project was a wood study project in the third year of my university. I focus on how to use the curve created by the bendable plywood to design a side table with simplicity and elegant design language. Three identical pieces of plywood are bent and joined by a flat piece of wood at the bottom. Rather than hiding the three gaps between those three pieces, the edges are chamfered and painted in white to make them clean and elegant. The birch veneer on the surface reveals the beauty of the wood texture.
Nest Lamp Furniture Design Completed in 2016
Design Features The inspiration comes from the idea of playing with the shadows. The patterns are inspired by the Birds Nest Stadium in Beijing. Once the light turns on, the pattern is reflected on the wall and create a abstract beauty. The bottom has a hexagon shape. The six steel bars connect the bottom and the cover, supporting the bottom piece. The cover is made of aluminum. It is painted in gray and the bottom is painted in black. The color of the cover makes it looks lighter than the bottom visually.
URBAN BICYCLE This project is awarded by IDA Award 2018 and IBDC 2018 and featured by Yanko Design.

Key Research and Ideation Sustainable Transit
Target Group Urban commuters who use bicycles to places and who need to bring their bicycle to public spaces.
Design Goal • Making the bicycle easy to carry in a crowded space. • Making the folding process easy and fast. • Preventing people from getting dirty by the gears or the wheels in a crowded space.
Key Sketches
"Combining biking with transit trips is not only good for your health and wallet, but the environment too. "According to the "Translink", passengers are allowed to take their bikes on almost every public transportation in Vancouver. People in Canada are encouraged to take sustainable transit every year and the number of people who do so is increasing. Therefore, combining cycling and taking public transportation would be a good solution for urban commuters. However, big bicycles have problems with mobility in public spaces due to their sizes.

Development Features
The angle of the handle can be adjusted for the most comfortable riding gesture. The brake handles can be placed on the other side of the handle bar.
The handle bar can be used as a lock. Press the button to open the code lock.

ULT 360 Toilet Toilet with Ultrasonic Cleaing Technology Complete in 2019
Key Research and Ideation Currently, the best way to clean the toilet thoroughly is to use brushes and towels. What are the other cleaning methods and technology?
According to sciencedirect.com, "Ultrasonic cleaning technology is able to penetrate and clean any surface that can be reached by a sound-conducting liquid. This means that blind holes, thread roots, parts with complex geometry, minute surface contours, and a number of otherwise impossible cleaning tasks can be easily accomplished using ultrasonic cleaning technology." If the ultrasonic cleaning technology is applied in the toilet, it can free people's hands from using brushes and towels.

Overview
The all-around curve design language creates beauty at every angle both when open and closed.
Development Ultrasonic Self Cleaning The ultrasonic transducers are attached to the inner side of the wall, so the wall and water vibrate at the close frequency. Before the cleaning starts, the water will rise to a certain height to maximize the cleaning area and match the performance of the ultrasonic vibration.

Development Water Nozzles Self-Cleaning
After the seat is put down and the user presses the control button on the controller, the water nozzles spray water for certain seconds to clean the top surface of the toilet which is underneath the seat. Around the water nozzles, there is a rubber ring that covers around the top surface for preventing the water from flowing out and drop on the outside wall.

UV Sterilization Light Automatically turns on for certain minutes after the lid is closed. Keep the toilet hygienic before been used.

CIGARETTE RECEPTACLE REDESIGN Completed in 2017 Design project for City of Edmonton (Canada) Group member: Zheren Zheng, Hannah Mousek, Yingnan Qi
Ideation Problems of the current receptacle:
Some homeless people break the locks or break the mounting part, so the door is welded on the receptacle’s body. Cleaning becomes a big issue. Also, some people kick the receptacle off the pole.
Big garbage such as the cigarette packages are harder to clean. When it is rainy or snowy, the inside becomes sticky. That makes the cleaning even harder.
The cleaner has to use a vacuum and a stick to clean from the top. The receptacle cannot be emptied completely.
Tired Cleaner
Goal: Design a cigarette receptacle that is secured, easy to empty and weatherproof.

Development Final Design
The top surface is sliding back to prevent the smokers using this surface to turn the cigarette off.
For security consideration, the bar can be pulled out only with the key. Even though someone breaks the lock to try to get the cigarettes which are inside the receptacle, the bar cannot be pulled out so that the receptacle cannot be opened.
The cleaner could put the lock bar in the insert on the top of the mount part so that the cleaner does not need to hold the bar or worry about losing it while cleaning.
