In 2011, at the hands of His Eminence Ks. Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz as Scouts and Guides ZHP we filed a declaration to take the White Service for World Youth Days in Krakow. Today we are faced with the implementation of this promise. There is a week of very difficult service in front of us - at different times of day and night, in sunshine and in rain, constantly in the move ... We believe that despite the great effort it will be for us an extraordinary time. True fulfillment of the words "Carrying help for others ...". We strongly encourage you to use the opportunities offered by the World Youth Day - both through participation in the events, making new friends and active work on yourself: interviews with priests, reception of the sacraments and daily common prayer. The place of our meeting is very hospitable municipality Michalowice. We hope that this beautiful surroundings, friendly locals, available infrastructure and a specially designed program will allow you to quickly regenerate after a day of service and inspire spiritual development. Be Prepared! Command of the International Rally for WYD 2016

The Royal Archcathedral Basilica of Saints Stanislaus and Wenceslaus on the Wawel Hill – also known as the Wawel Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic church located on Wawel Hill in Kraków. More than 900 years old, it is the Polish national sanctuary and traditionally has served as coronation site of the Polish monarchs as well as the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Kraków. Karol Wojtyla, who in 1978 became Pope John Paul II, the day after his ordination to the priesthood, offered his first Mass as a priest in the Crypt of the Cathedral on 2 November 1946, and was ordained Kraków's auxiliary bishop in the Cathedral on September 28, 1958. Church of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven (also known as St. Mary's Church) is a Brick Gothic church re-built in the 14th century (originally built in the early 13th century), adjacent to the Main Market Square in Kraków. Standing 80 m (262 ft) tall, it is particularly famous for its wooden altarpiece carved by Veit Stoss (Wit Stwosz). On every hour, a trumpet signal—called the Hejnał mariacki—is played from the top of the taller of St. Mary's two towers. The plaintive tune breaks off in mid-stream, to commemorate the famous 13th century trumpeter, who was shot in the throat while sounding the alarm before the Mongol attack on the city. The Divine Mercy Sanctuary is a Roman Catholic basilica dedicated to the Divine Mercy devotion, as the resting place of Saint Faustina Kowalska, canonized on April 30, 2000. The new basilica was built between 1999–2002, and is located in the District of Łagiewniki at św. Faustyny street. Two Popes have visited the shrine and millions of pilgrims from around the world continue to visit it every year. John Paul II Center "Have No Fear" - the Centre is founded ‘to commemorate the great legacy and pontificate of God’s servant, Pope John Paul II’, ‘so that his example and word are passed on to future generations. It’s located in the District of Łagiewniki at św. Faustyny street.

Michalowice
Michalowice is a 10 000-citizens community that lies 10 km north of Kraków. In Michalowice you can find baroque wooden church in Więcławice, gothic church in Raciborowice, some 19th century mansions, wooden water-mills, several bike-trails and stables, where you can ride horses. The community of Michalowice is in the broad valley of the Dlubnia river, which further on joins the Wisla river. Regarding its administrative location, the community belongs to the Malopolska Region. The varying outline of the terrain and interesting factors of landscape and nature (part of the area is located along the Natural Parks: “Dlubnia River Valley“ and “Dolinki Krakowskie”) forms a diversified and picturesque surrounding. In the eastern part of the Community there are vast areas of apple orchards. There are also a lot of interesting monuments, 2 horse riding centres and fishing ponds.
History
The history of the community of Michalowice has been recorded for over 900 years and therefore makes the village one of the oldest in Poland. Its origins are based on the first settlements of the Awdaniec family. Crest "Wieniawa" of Jan Długosz This knight’s clan characteristically introduced settlements all over Poland during the Middle Ages, but was particularly present on the ground of the Malopolska Region. According to legend, the clan originated from a Norman order of knighthood called “Audun”. One of the members of the clan, Michal, was the first keeper of Michalowice. He lived between the 11th and 12th century. Honouring him, the village was named after him in 1198. One supposes that before that time, the settlement was called Dlubnia, based on the name of the river on the shores of which the village is situated. 16
In the Dlubnia valley during the Middle Ages an intensive development of industry and farming took place. During the revolution known as “Powstanie Kosciuszkowskie in 1793, Tadeusz Kosciuszko led his army through the valley heading towards Raclawice. After the third division of the Polish state, the area of the community of Michalowice was divided between the two occupants. Most of the area was under Russian administration, whereas Raciborowice was controlled by Austro-Hungary. In a part of Michalowice, which is today known as Komora, there used to be a customs office and a border crossing between the two occuppying powers. During the fight for independence at the beginning of the 20th century, this border played an important role: after breaking down a barrier at the border in Michalowice - Komora, Jozef Pilsudski's army continued on towards Kielce. To honour this event, a monument was erected in Komora.

Churches The Diocesan Sanctuary of St. Jacob the Apostle in Więcławice The origin of the parish church of St. Jacob in Więcławice reaches 1340. Church is built of spruce on the brick foundation. It is aisleless, in the Baroque style. The last thorough reconstruction and maintenance was performed before 1757 when the church was consecrated. To 1773, Jesuits Fathers were the heirs and parish priests of the church, to whom Więcławice were probably given by the Więcławscy family, the owners of Więcławice and Wola Więcławska. In 1868, sacristy was added on the south side. There are three Rococo style altars in the church reaching the first half of the 18th century: In the main altar there is a painting of St. Jacob the Apostole, the first parish patron. In the upper part of the altar there is a painting of St. Tekla and the sculptures of St. Peter, St. Paul, St. Stanislaus the Bishop and St. Adalbert on the sides, as well as 4 reliquaries. Right side altar is dedicated to St. Isidore the Farmer (painting from the first part of the 17th century) who is the second parish patron.
18
There is a painting of St. Valentine in the upper part of the altar and of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus in the lower part. There are also the sculptures (before 1773) of St. Xavier and St. Aloysius on the sides as well as the marble baptismal font with brass cover next to the altar (around 1800).
Left side altar is dedicated to the Mother of God, a painting of Madonna with Infant Jesus. The following sculptures are located on the rood beam between pilasters of Group of Crucifixion: sculpture of Jesus Christ Crucified, a late-baroque style (17th century) and late-gothic sculptures of the Mother of God and St. John the Evangelist (15/16th century). On the northern wall of the church a special place is given to the triptych of St. Nicolas painted on boards. It is a unique monument of gothic guild paintings from 1477. The center of the picture presents St. Nicolas in a pose of a king with St. Stephen and St. Lawrence. On the reverse – left side: figures of St. John the Baptist and St. Andrew, St. Stanislaus the Bishop and St. Erasmus; reverse – right side: St. Bartholomew and St. James the Elder, St. Florian and St. George. The reverse show – left side: St. Urban and St. Valentine, St. Clara and St. Odile; right side: St. Helena and St. Sofia with her daughters: St. Apolonia and St. Afre. For many centuries a sculpture of the Mother of God with the child hanged above the triptych. This gothic-style sculpture (around 1420) is a unique monument of guild sculptures from the so called Beautiful Madonnas period. The sculpture’s original was given to the Archdiocesan Museum, therefore Więcławice has a copy. There is a wooden belfry of pole construction next to the church (from 1846) and a tomb stone of Hieronim Eustachy and Anna Kihttel, heirs of properties of Wilczkowie and Masłomiąca, in a shape of sarcophagus with marble. On 5 September 2013 Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz signed the decree establishing parish church of St. Jacob in Więcławice Stare a Diocesan Sanctuary of St. Jacob the Apostle. Sanctuary of St. Jacob the Apostle in Więcławice Stare is the Poland’s fourth – after Jakubowo, Lębork and Szczyrk – sanctuary of pilgrims’ patron and the first sanctuary under the same invocation in Małopolska and the Diocese of Cracow.

Church of St. Margaret in Raciborowice A gothic brick church of St. Margaret was financed in 1460-1476 by Jan Długosz. Sanctuary is built in the so called Dlugosz style. Church is aisleless with a presbytery rectangularly finished and covered with the cross-ribbed vault. Rectangular aisle constitutes a ceiling. It is characterized by detailed stone design. The most characteristic themes include pointed-arch offset stairs portals and numerous cartouches with Wieniawa coat of arms (head of aurochs) of Jan Długosz. Next to the Wieniawa coat of arms there is also the coat of arms of Chapter of Cracow, Three Crowns, on the ceiling keystones of the presbytery. Inside the church there is also a sculptured foundation board with a relief of the church’s patron – St. Margaret, inscription (1476) and coats of arms. The Baroque-style main altar inside the church is characterized by the crucifix of 1440, painting of Mother of God of Snow with the Child of 1526, Renaissance tomb stone of Walenty Brzostowski the Priest (died in 1586) and three epitaphs: two of Renaissance style – of Mikołaj and Jan Rajski (died in 1564) and Anna from Lipie Linkowe (died in 1592) and one classic of Jerzy Dubiecki (died in 1767). In 1963 Renaissance polychrome was found on the northern wall in the main aisle. There is a belfry next to the church. A wooden part from the second half of the 19th century is located on the stone Gothic-style part reaching 1476. A chapel from 1847 was raised next to the church on the parish cemetery with a wide alley of ash trees. The whole church and cemetery complex including a church, belfry, cemetery, cemetery chapel and linden alley has unique architectural and landscape values, as well as interesting history. Some eminent people, such as Jan Długosz, a founder of the church and parish priest of Raciborowice church, and Karol Wojtyła, who spent few months here as a seminarist, were associated with this sanctuary. 20

Church of Blessed Virgin Mary in Michałowice The church’s history reaches 1 June 1949 when the Cracow Metropolitan Curia issued an erection decree establishing new parish in Michałowice of Blessed Virgin Mary, The Queen of Polish Crown for the villages of Michałowice, Zerwaną, part of Wilczkowie and Firlejowa of around 1550 people. The decree establishing new parish was signed by the Constant Prince, Adam Stefan Sapieha, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Cracow. The church is of basilica style. It is modern and bold with its solutions as for times in which it was built. It is characterized by harmony supporting concentration and sacred character of this place. Its advantages also include functionality, such as good acoustics and altar visible from almost every place of the church. Inside of the church was formed on the cross creating uniform area with the chapel on the left side of presbytery for every-day use. The whole interior decoration of the church in Michałowice was made during 1990-1995. Interior’s elements are made in permanent plastic techniques, such as glass mosaic, sgrafitto, stained-glass windows. Graphical engravings in colorful plasters refer to a Marian title of sanctuary. Scenes in copula canopy present Annunciation, Visitation, Birth of Christ, Presentation, Finding in the Temple, Marriage at Cana. The church’s presbytery is Christocentric. The glorified Christ (sculpture of Tadeusz Szpunar) presents his praiseworthy wounds. The mosaic background shows the revelation of Christ after resurrection. Church tabernacle presents the evening in Emaus. On the side walls of the presbytery there are Eucharistic-theme mosaics: multiplication of the loaves, last supper. The altar of the parish and church patron, Virgin Mary, The Queen of Poland, is located in the left arm of transept. The painting is a true copy of Jasna Góra picture. The painting’s background presents a large story of numerous Polish sanctuaries with the same Queen Mother as in the monastery of Jasna Góra. 22 22
The opposite arm of transept is dedicated to St. Brother Albert. Mosaic tells a story about his life and holiness: insurgent, painter, tertiary servicing the poor in a shelter and in the Cracow’s Kazimierz. The mosaic Way of the Cross binds the whole interior together. In the stained-glass windows, figures of the Polish saints walking on the Polish lands from the Wojciech times to modern days are presented (Servant of God, Cardinal Wyszyński and the Holy Father). The side chapel is dedicated to the Mercy of God. There are graphical drawings on the walls illustrating evangelical parables about Merciful God. Brass doors lead to the interior of the church. They are covered with the Marian feasts in the liturgical calendar. The fronton of the church contains a statute of the Queen of Poland.
