SUMMARY R. Scott Ziegler is a thought leader on the subject of urbanism, as well as frequent guest speaker at Rice University, Urban Land Institute, Texas Society of Architects, Multifamily Executive Conferences and, most recently, Architectural Record’s Local Leaders Multi-Unit Panel Discussion. As Principal-in-Charge of the Urban Residential Studio, Scott plays an active role in shaping the urban landscape through his published writings in professional journals on the subjects of Sustainable Urban Growth Strategies and High Density Mixed-Use Developments. Scott’s Urban Residential experience is tempered by industry leaders including Hines, Gables Residential Trust, General Investment and Development, The Hanover Companies, Camden REIT, Trammell Crow Residential, Dinerstein Companies and Forest City for the design of lowrise, mid-rise and high-rise developments. With projects totaling over 18 million s.f. and $2.5 billion in construction value, Scott is adept in providing design direction to his clients in the form of density studies, developing appropriate unit mix, unit design, lifestyle demographics, amenity packages, interior design and insight into future design trends. Scott’s insight and knowledge of the profession have led his firm to design numerous award-winning projects that have garnered regional and national recognition. SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER URBAN RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE SUMMARY Denny Simon earned a Master of Architecture from Louisiana State University as well as a BS from Southeastern Louisiana University. Mr. Simon joined Ziegler Cooper Architects in 2006 after practicing with Mougeot Architecture and Holden Associates in Baton Rouge. As Project Manger, Denny has experience coordinating largescale urban residential projects in the Living Place Studio from concept design through development and construction. Denny brings a diverse skill set of technical, design and management experience, and he is responsible for maintaining direction in accordance with the project schedule. He applies his experience in coordinating complex project teams made up of consultants, contractors, designers and clients in his role as Project Architect. Denny brings more than 10 years of architecture and design experience, with a focus on mid-rise, high-rise, mixed use, and high density, urban residential developments. In his spare time, Denny enjoys watching college football.

SENIOR PROJECT DESIGNER URBAN RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE SUMMARY Chris Petrash serves as Design Principal of Ziegler Cooper’s Architecture studios, with more than 34 years of design expertise on diverse and complex project types including commercial office, high-rise, mixed-use, and high density, urban residential developments. His high level of design contribution in architecture has been recognized by the receipt of numerous awards. Chris has played key design roles on significant projects including the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 2727 Kirby, The Austonian, The Sovereign and Highland Tower. His primary role is to provide quality control of the design of all projects in the Urban Residential Studio. Most projects demand hands-on development, where Chris’s range of skills help to create meaningful and costeffective solutions for his clients. Chris participates as a design critic for the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture at the University of Houston, where he was recognized for Outstanding Contributions to Architecture in 1998, by the Architecture Alumni Association, receiving entry into its Architectural Hall of Fame.

He joined Ziegler Cooper in 2007 after working at Richard Meier and Partners in Los Angeles. Axel’s wide range of experience through every project stage, including construction administration, makes him an effective designer. He is able to anticipate problems and find innovative solutions for complex projects. As project designer in the Urban Residential Studio, Axel leads the design effort and works with the team all the way through construction, making sure the design intent is maintained through all stages of the project. Axel has a diverse set of design and technical skills making him very effective at designing, detailing and problem solving with great attention to detail. Axel utilizes his expertise in building architectural basswood models to facilitate visualization of the project’s design.

SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER URBAN RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE SUMMARY After working with world-renowned architects while at Zaha Hadid’s office in London, Dawna came to Ziegler Cooper Architects with a wide range of cultural and diverse project experience, upon which to build. As Senior Designer for the Urban Residential Studio, Dawna specializes in hospitality and urban residential interior design. Inspired by natural forms and textures, Dawna’s designs strike a thoughtful balance between fluidity of lines and harmonious proportions to create customized spaces in context with a project’s location and an owner’s needs. Equal consideration is given to the procession through spaces as the design of the spaces themselves. With projects totaling over seven and a half million square feet, some of Dawna’s hospitality and urban residential clients include: Marquette Township, Greystar, Camden Property Trust and Trammel Crow. Dawna plays an active role in her clients’ projects, interacting at the highest project level. She is as dynamic in her presentation as her design process, which integrates sophisticated 3D modeling tools as part of her design process to facilitate design approval. Possessing an in depth experience both in design and project management, Dawna has gained specific expertise in providing her clients customized must-have amenity packages, assuring the success of their projects in a market that demands forwardthinking design.

SUMMARY A graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in environmental design and a master’s degree of architecture and master’s of construction management, Charles has more than 30 years of experience in architecture, construction and building envelope consulting to the firm. Since 2001 Charles has been on board with Ziegler Cooper assisting with a wide variety of projects. After many years in the industry, Charles is incredibly well versed in researching and evaluating design materials and construction methods. This allows for impeccable sustainable design practices in all technical aspects of getting a project built. Charles Middlebrooks is a Senior Project Architect and serves as the firm’s Waterproofing and Building Envelope expert. Over the years, Charles has strengthened his specialization in all forms of moisture control in building construction, applicable to roofing, waterproofing and curtain walls. He also specializes in energy conservation, green building design and specification development in the high-rise residential and commercial office markets.

Program Aris Market Square is a sophisticated 32-floor residential tower located in the heart of the Theater District and overlooking historic Market Square, Houston’s first urban park. The tower offers 274 luxury apartments ranging in size from 570 to 2,227 square feet, appointed with contemporary European-style kitchens, wood floors, and upscale bathrooms and closets. The tower architecture responds to its urban context by providing a richly paved and well-landscaped pedestrian area at the corner of Travis and Preston Streets to reinforce the lively neighborhood dining scene. Along Main Street, Aris offers a private “secret garden” pocket park, accessible by residents and patrons of Aris’ 9,100-square-foot restaurant space. Aris’ Main Street pocket park is designed to be reminiscent of the treeshaded courtyards in the New Orleans French Quarter, with direct access to Houston’s Metro Rail system and the city beyond.

Program Developed in partnership with Weingarten Realty and the Hanover Company, The Driscoll is a new luxury apartment high-rise located in the prestigious River Oaks area in Houston, Texas. Situated along West Gray Street in the historic River Oaks Shopping Center, this new development will offer residents a truly unique living experience. The Driscoll will feature all the modern luxuries and amenities that residents have come to expect, while offering unparalleled access to the highend shopping center and the River Oaks area beyond.

Program Hanover Southampton is a 206-unit midrise apartment complex conveniently located on the corner of Morningside and Dunstan, overlooking Rice University, Southampton, Downtown and the Medical Center. Conveniently served by Rice Village retail, the architecture of Hanover Southampton reflects a timeless expression, clad in a crisp combination of glass, masonry and metal finishes. The 12-story complex offers unit sizes ranging from 745 square feet to 1,260 square feet for a one bedroom and 1,300-2,000 square feet for a two bedroom. The 12th-floor amenity level features a resort-style pool deck with private cabanas, a movie theater, fitness room, bar and lounge, private dining space, entertainment room with outdoor access, and a covered outdoor living room with cooking facilities. The third floor also includes a lushly landscaped courtyard complete with seating and water features.

Program The Midtown is a new 27-story, 379unit mixed-use development, situated on a full city block, just outside of Houston’s Central Business District. This new development has a significant amenity package, including a sky lounge with terrace, multiple catering and demonstration kitchens, a pool with dramatic city views, aqua lounge, morning room with barista, an extensive fitness center and yoga room, as well as a business center and gaming room. The development caters to an urban, livework-play lifestyle, with 13,090 square feet of retail at the ground level, as well as convenient access to the METRO Lightrail, whose Red Line is across the street. The Midtown also includes a dog park and dog wash, as well as generous bicycle storage areas.

Program Parq on Speer is a new mixed-use, urban residential development in the Golden Triangle neighborhood just outside of uptown Denver. The 16-story project includes 302 units, with 12,000 s.f. of retail at the street level anchored by an urban grocer and coffee shop at one corner and a restaurant at the other. The development is an elevated take on upscale urban living, with an extensive amenity level that features a Club Room, Aqua Lounge, Fitness Center, Dog Park, Community Room, WiFi Lounge and Morning Room, all culminating in a 14,275-s.f. deck whose pool offers spectacular views of the Rockies beyond.

Program The Austonian sets a new standard of living for luxury condominiums. The tallest residential building in Austin and the Western United States, The Austonian offers unprecedented views of the city and surrounding Hill Country along with an elegant lifestyle in one of America’s greatest cities. The building occupies just one-third of a city block, providing luxury homes for 178 families on less than three-quarters of an acre. One of the primary design objectives was to create a space that supports energy and natural resource conservation. The Austonian’s sleek and environmentallyconscious design offers a luxurious green lifestyle — deluxe amenities, top-tier services and dozens of premier shops, restaurants and music venues within a five-minute walk. The project achieved a four-star rating from Austin Energy Green Building Council, which is comparable to a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Gold Rating.

Program Marquette Management engaged Ziegler Cooper to design this 28-story, 361-unit apartment tower encompassing a full city block on the northeast side of Houston’s Central Business District. Situated one block from the Houston Astros Minute Maid Park, Catalyst includes more than 6,800 s.f. of retail and restaurant space at the building’s base, along with a 552-space private parking garage situated above the retail space and below the residential units. The tower consists of a combination of high-rise and low-rise apartments, with the low-rise units forming an active streetscape, concealing the garage. Catalyst encourages walkability by being just one block from Houston’s light rail system. Additionally, the development includes an outdoor terrace on level 9 that features a rooftop pool deck with sweeping views of the ballpark and the city beyond. The level 26 amenity lounge features a full demonstration kitchen, while level 28 boasts a club room with private bar, fire place, gaming table, wine lockers, and an outdoor terrace. Catalyst opened in 2018.

Program 2727 Kirby is a sleek, 21st-century building that establishes itself as a visual focal point and signature building in the prestigious Upper Kirby/River Oaks neighborhood. At 30 stories, the tower engages in dialogue with Kirby Drive, by leaning into the street. This work of art´s interior spaces are as luxurious as its exterior is stunning. The lobby features warm, woodpaneled walls and suspended from the ceiling is a magnificent contemporary glass sculpture. Program Houston-based MetroNational has partnered with Ziegler Cooper Architects to design this upscale apartment complex with hundreds of luxury units and a rooftop pool. The eight-story complex designed to house 327 apartments will be built just behind the Memorial City Mall at the northwest corner of Barryknoll Lane and Memorial City Way. The development will feature one, two and three-bedroom units ranging in size from 555 to 1,796 square feet. The development is expected to open in summer 2019.

Located adjacent to Cherry Creek Park, the project includes a public ‘pocket park’ surrounded by hike and bike trails. The exterior facade features Colorado Red Ledgestone complemented by a silver metal paneling. The urban residential development features panoramic views of the nearby mountain range and Downtown Denver. Units range between 577 s.f. and 1,345 s.f. The development also includes an eight-story parking garage for residents and guests.

Program Ziegler Cooper was selected to develop a design for a 250-unit mid-rise urban residential project consisting of seven levels of residential with six levels of above-grade parking. The development is located at the intersection of West 17th Avenue and Raleigh Street in Denver, Colorado. The property overlooks Denver’s second largest park, also known as Sloans Lake, which includes 177 acres of recreational fields, tennis courts, bike and pedestrian paths, and the lake itself. Sloan Lake is a glassy centerpiece of Sloan Lake Park, a large preserve on the western edge of Denver.
