6 processes for injection molding

Used injection molding machines are utilized for many applications that require in making any solid piece of plastic. Used injection molding machines can be vertical or horizontal that go beyond their obvious differences in shapes but the most used machine is the horizontal injection molding. Highquality horizontal injection molders are a bit competitive when it comes to price. Injection molding is often used for mass production and prototyping of the same plastic products in just a short period of time. The following listed below are the processes done by the injection molding machines:

Clamping Its main function is to open and close the mold along with the ejecting parts. This is what holds the mold under pressure during the ejection and cooling. It also consists of two common types of mold clamps; the hydraulic and toggle clamps. Toggle clamps serve to secure an object tightly in order to prevent it from moving when inward pressure is applied. This also consists of a handle, a clamping arm to reach the work piece, a spindle for pressure adjustment and a base for mounting at the workplace. Hydraulic clamps are designed specifically to hold a work piece during milling and drilling work. Their compact dimensions and flexible operations make it ideal for semi or fully automatic die change on small and medium size machine.

Injection During this phase, plastic material (pellets form) are loaded into a hopper on top of the injection unit. Pellets are heated until they reach molten form and within the heating cylinder, there is a motorized screw that mixes the molten pellets and forces them to end of the cylinder. Dwelling This phase pause in the injection process which the molten plastic is injected into the mold and the pressure is applied to make sure that all the mold cavities are filled.

Cooling A well built cooling system can shorten the molding time and improve the productivity magnificently and it takes time of up to 70 to 80 percent of injection molding cycle. These allow the plastic to cool its solid form within the mold. Mold opening When the clamping unit is opened, the two halves of the mold separate. Removal of the product Time is required to open the mold and eject the part and the unused plastic poured into a mold can be recycled for use again for future molds.
