In order to measure your windows you need to use a steel tape, do not try to measure with cloth tape, ruler or yardstick. 2. Always be precise in measuring windows, in the part of measuring small things like windows accuracy is very important. Rounding the value is not really a good idea in measuring the windows. For example, you get 54 ž for the size of an area, you need to use 54 ž exactly and not 55. 3. Keep yourself cautious about transposing your measurements; while keeping measurements always note down the width first and then the height. Use a cross sign between them to separate.
4. Measure for Inside-Mount Blinds, it is mounted on the window frame for a neater look. If the window is set in a deep recess, fitting blind inside makes for a neat finish. But mistakes in measurements can ruin them altogether. Measure the width of a recess in three places; at the top, at the middle, and at the bottom. You have to make sure that you grip both ends of the tape on the inside edges of the recess. The smallest measurement, as it will be the one you use. Measure the height of the recess three times: at the left, at the center, and at the right and you also need to make sure you will hold both ends of the tape on the inside edges of the recess.

Measure for the outside mount blinds. The outside mounted blinds are mounted on the walls outside the window frame. Maybe this is not the preferred method, but an insufficient window depth may call for this type of mounting. Always determine where the mount will be placed, it should be placed 1 ½ to 3 inches above the window. Measure the height of blinds, do it from the suggested area of the mount down to 2-4 inches below the bottom of the window. The remaining overlap is to block out light and ensure your privacy. Lastly, measure carefully for the width of any set of blinds and add between 2 and 4 inches on each side. 6. Practice to measure at least twice before the recording of the final measurement.
