ALPHABET SOFA™ SERIES
Alphabet Sofa™ Series is a flexible sofa concept designed by Piero Lissoni. The design, inspired by toy Lego bricks, consists of modular elements that can be combined in an endless variety of combinations.
Piero Lissoni 1956Italian Piero Lissoni is a well-known designer and architect with a degree from the Polytechnico of Milan. In 1986 Lissoni founded the Studio Lissoni. Since then Piero Lissoni has worked with a dense list of design brands, such as Boffi, Cassina, Kartell, Living Divani and Flos on a wide diversity of designs of furniture and lighting. Lissonis’s projects are often total designs, i.e. full-scale interiors and architecture of hotels, offices and showrooms, yachts and private homes. He’s inspired by many different elements but also designers such as Danish Arne Jacobsen and Poul Kjærholm. Piero Lissoni’s design principle is never to design for a specific function or purpose - but to design for human beings. For Fritz Hansen Piero Lissoni designed Lissoni Series in 2006 and in the autumn 2008, Alphabet, a new modular sofa series is introduced. As Lissoni puts it: “Generally, things become boring if they are too static and immobile. Beauty lies in imperfection…” and “…each sofa element can be seen as a letter in an alphabet. It is then up to the individual to put together the letters to form a word.”

The sofa can be completely disassembled into parts to be recycled or incinerated.
DESCRIPTION
The Alphabet Sofa™ Series is tested according to EN 15373 for strength, durability and stability, test level 2 - general contract use, EN 1728 strength and durability, level 4 (out of 5 possible), EN 1022 stability, EN 1021 1+2 (BS 5852 ignition source 0+1) - Inflammability, glowing, cigarette and match flame*, CAL 117 fire* and BS 5952 fire crib 5*.
Alphabet is a flexible sofa system designed by Piero Lissoni, manufactured by Fritz Hansen. The series consists of seat modules in 4 different sizes, 8 straight backrests, an L-shaped corner backrest, an armrest, and cushions. The fully upholstered seat, back-, and armrest modules are constructed of layers of high-resiliency (HR) foam with firmer foam on the seat module’s front. The seats rest on glides in dark grey synthetic material. Modules are connected through hidden connections. The sofa can be combined in most ways but some limitations exits.

WARRANTY
UPHOLSTERY
Standard goods have warranty for five years against manufacturing defects (i.e. materials and design). The warranty does not cover leather and other fabrics ordered as customers own or special material as well as products manufactured according to customer specifications. Normal wear and tear and damage of covers are not covered by the warranty. The warranty for wicker and lamps is 2 years.
The upholstery is available in a selection of fabrics. Fame, Canvas, Diablo, Remix, Steelcut, Steelcut Trio, Hallingdal, Divina, Divina MD, Divina Melange, Milani.
extended limited WARRANTY
The alphabet sofa is available in fabric upholstery. Different upholstery colours can be combined in the same sofa.
Fritz Hansen offers an extended limited warranty if you register your Alphabet Sofa™ online at fritzhansen.com/my-republic. Registration with the product ID number must be made within three (3) months from the date of purchase, otherwise the extended limited warranty will not apply. Years of warranty: 5 years.
