competition which pitted many mainly Italian manufacturers against each other, it was ultimately Ligne Roset Contracts who won the invitation to tender, having presented the most accomplished project at the best price. « We were competing because we love a challenge, », explains its Director Max Flageollet, « & also because we saw the opportunity to get close to a first-class architect with whom we hadn't yet collaborated ».

Twelve metres long & streamlined like the Nautilus, the KingSofa (2) really does have the look of a submarine about it, hence the nickname assigned to it by its manufacturer, Ligne Roset Contracts. Made in a limited series of just six, this majestic specimen sits imposingly in the 34,000m2 Parisian concourse of Station F (1, 3), the largest startup campus in the world owned by Xavier Niel, the entrepreneur behind Free. Station F holds every record going. Built by Eugène Freyssinet in 1929, this former SNCF station concourse is classified as a historical monument thanks to its unique pre-stressed concrete structure. Deftly restored by JeanMichel Wilmotte, it now accommodates around 1,000 start-ups, a hive in which more than three thousand young entrepreneurs beaver away 24/7, granting themselves the occasional break on this oversized seating. Designer Jean-Michel Wilmotte quite intentionally gave the KingSofa XXL proportions, with its manufacturing process the subject of a consultation initiated by The Great Hospitality. Following a fierce

Based in Briord, in the Ain region, for more than 150 years, Ligne Roset has a worldwide reputation for the quality and elegance of its contemporary furniture, designed by big names in design such as Jean Nouvel, Pierre Paulin, Inga Sempé, Philippe Nigro, Pascal Mourgue, Didier Gomez, Noé DuchaufourLawrance and the Bouroullec brothers. In addition to its traditional craftsmanship and sophisticated machinery, the Group can now boast of the custom projects of its Ligne Roset Contracts arm. Created to fit out luxury international hotels & cruise liners, along with high-end boutiques & other highvisibility spaces, it devises & manufactures high-end furniture in small or large quantities – as perfectly demonstrated by Station F: six settees eight or twelve metres in length which are at once attractive, very comfortable, ultra-durable & timeless.

Taking into consideration the design brief & working closely with the Wilmotte designers, the Ligne Roset Contracts R&D team developed a prototype which brought together three adjustable modules : a central body, larger or smaller intermediate blocks & two streamlined extremities. Sculpted by a five-axis machine, these compact foam modules work together in a similar way to the parts of an extending table.

LAYING OUT THE CO-LIVING SPACES

Delivered by a specialist transporter, the KingSofa then had to be assembled on-site; that said, it can easily be disassembled if desired since its covers are removable, a particular requirement of the project sponsor ! After several trials, it was decided not to glue the Holland felt to the foam but to fix it in place using zips, relying on the seams of the covers to keep the fabric taut, thus preventing it from losing its shape with use. A winning technical process. « This was the kind of

For the young entrepreneurs of Station F, Xavier Niel commissioned the same architect to design its 600 neighbouring business incubators. @Home is the name of this collective housing, which has been designed as a co-living platform ; each apartment boasts a communal kitchen, three bathrooms & six bedrooms, each of which are 7m2. Arranging the layout of these ‘cells’ was a tall order, but Wilmotte’s designers decided to put their faith in Ligne Roset Contracts

challenge we love, » confirms Max Flageollet, unaware at that point that yet another challenge awaited him, one of a completely different magnitude.

after a convincing visit to their factories in the Rhône-Alpes region.. This time, the plan called for minimalist furniture : a Japanese-style bed base & storage drawer, deep headboard, bedside table/stool, wardrobe & mirror. The manufacturer was given the task of devising functional, timeless furniture. On leaving their digital world, the future occupants would want to unwind in a natural cocoon in which wood takes centre stage. « Our mission was to bring the Wilmotte designers' designs in on the client's budget ; in eight months, the concept had been approved in terms of both form & substance », explains Max Flageollet, whose masterstroke was ensuring that the various teams came together at the very outset, thus ensuring that the project had a sound economic base. The key idea : offering standard high-end pieces which made the best use of the Group's industrial facilities.

3

In the postwar years, Jean Roset’s first task was arranging his factories in the Bugey region. In 1954, working to the designs of Jean Prouvé, his pioneering company made the wardrobes for the halls of residence of the Jean Zay university in Antony, a pleasing start which ultimately won yet more orders for offices, restaurants & retirement homes. However, Jean Roset changed his factories' focus to the production of domestic furniture in 1973, the year in which Ligne Roset & designer Michel Ducaroy came together to create Togo, a settee revolutionary in its time which went on to achieve close on 1.3 million sales. This enlightened entrepreneur, along with his sons Pierre & Michel, then developed a network of retail outlets under the Ligne Roset brand in France & abroad, which are now spread across 70 countries. In the 1980s, influenced by the great names in design, the interior decoration of hotels became more sophisticated & more open to design. Having made itself the icon of

–4–

contemporary interiors, the brand then decided to adapt its offer to this flourishing sector. A meeting with Pierre-Yves Rochon was to be decisive: charged with the interior arrangement of the Sofitel Chicago (4) in the Water Tower, the renowned interior architect needed a French manufacturer to produce all the seating he had designed for it, to a brief as thick as a telephone directory. The contract was worth a million dollars. Meticulously & systematically, the Ligne Roset factories ‘got with the programme’ & went all out to satisfy their client. Better still, in just four months they were able to satisfy a last minute order for 350 headboards! A faultless performance.

THE GROWTH OF LIGNE ROSET CONTRACTS Thanks to the flexibility of its industrial base & the reliability of its R&D teams, Ligne Roset has become a master of the bespoke. In 2000, its Contracts division really took off when international invitations to tender from

the Accor Group brought access to the best Sofitels in the world : in Rabat & Essaouira, the team collaborated with interior decorator Didier Gomez. Then followed projects with the European Méridien hotels (Munich, Hamburg) & the Ibis chain, for which the R&D department developed a furniture concept (15,000 bedrooms in three years), earning themselves approved supplier status Ligne Roset Contracts' growth is intimately linked to its relationships with external designers & the loyalty of talented interior architects, a perfect example of which is their collaborations with Jean-Philippe Nuel. The production of his elegant armchair for the Hôtel Molitor-Paris (5) & of his chairs for the bedrooms of the Intercontinental Hôtel-Dieu, Marseille consolidated their joint work on the sites of prestigious restoration projects. Their latest joint project will be the Grand Hôtel-Dieu, Lyon, due for completion in late 2018, in which the Duomo (6) armchairs & 1-arm settees are the perfect foil for this historic building. The toast of the cream of French gastronomy, Ligne Roset Contracts has just become a part of Beaupassage, the capital’s chic new urban hotspot which opens this summer in the rue de Grenelle, the location of one of Ligne Roset’s most attractive stores. Alongside Thierry Marx, Anne-Sophie Pic & Pierre Hermé, Yannick Alléno is to open Allénothèque, a bistro which the Michelinstarred chef is kitting out with Pierre Paulin’s famed CM131 chairs, which were reproduced by Ligne Roset in January 2018. This will be the first time that this mythical seating has been used in a public space.

use, fire safety & moisture resistance, Ligne Roset Contract must remain in a permanent state of proactivity, proposing ever more high-performance fabrics & taking care to comply with the latest legislation.. Openness to this market – with another four cruise ships waiting – has pushed out the walls of its industrial site & will continue to do so

since the Compagnie du Ponant, proprietor of the Pinault Group, is set to expand its order portfolio. An interior architect drawn to these floating luxury hotels, Jean-Philippe Nuel is responsible for their sophisticated interior arrangement, such as the future icebreaker for which the designer has created restaurant chairs. Ligne Roset Contracts is already on deck, en route to the North Pole.

LIGNE ROSET CONTRACTS SETS SAIL ! Adapting to suit an order or location, this is the motto of Ligne Roset Contracts. Whether limited runs of furniture designed by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance for the Montblanc luxury boutiques or large quantities of settees (convertible or fixed) for cruise ships. In symbiosis with Chantiers de l’Atlantique & the shipowner Royal Caribbean, the Briord factories have already equipped thousands of cabins, working to working drawings sent by the shipping tycoon from its base in Miami. How did Ligne Roset come to Japan ?

–7–

TEXT : MICHELE LELOUP

Doesn’t this market have a reputation for being difficult ?

–9–

Olivier & Antoine are the fifth Roset generation. The sons of Michel & Pierre Roset (Directeur Général & Président respectively) continue leading the Group on the international stage, most notably taking it into Japan & China. With more than 700 outlets in 70 countries, Ligne Roset retains a deep attachment to its stores, although today’s ‘young guard’ are accelerating the move towards digitization. With the creation of 4 distribution platforms in the USA, the brand is now increasing its visibility with its new developmental tool, online ordering. What is the industrial strength of Ligne Roset today ? Olivier Roset : It relies on the mastery of three complementary strands : the manufacturing of upholstery, the manufacturing of cabinet items & the production of decorative accessories such as rugs, lights, etc. When you purchase a Ligne Roset settee from one of our 700 outlets worldwide, a production

order is launched in our factories in France & seven weeks later, the product leaves one of our five industrial sites (155,000 m2). The Group’s strength also lies in its ability to manufacture goods to order: many cabinet items offer a choice of eight lacquer colours & each seat may be personalised with one of our 10,000 fabric or leather covering materials. Our upholstery production is organized into ‘workplace sectors’ : each one brings together the skills of around 40 multi-skilled team members who work according to the Japanese Kaizen method. This quality management system enables self-managed teams to continuously improve manufacturing processes. As for the designers, their projects are developed in our three Research & Development offices alongside Michel Roset & a team of 15. Then, the Organization & Methods department adapts the design to the industrial base during a period of around six months. Each year, around 100 new products are created : the collections never stand still !

Olivier Roset : Like the German clientèle whom we conquered in the Seventies, Japanese customers have an appreciation of high quality but are also demanding in terms of price, speed of delivery & aftersales service : if you can succeed in Germany, you can win the Japanese market. For 40 years, Ligne Roset Japan has been a very loyal partner to us & we in turn remain true to them. Each quarter, a member of the Roset family spends time in their factories in Hiroshima, adapting our products to suit Japanese standards: since their apartments are smaller than ours, they require very compact designer pieces which suit the Japanese lifestyle & morphology. Which product did you begin with ? Olivier Roset : Ligne Roset Japan began by manufacturing Togo, our cult all-foam settee which is now also a best-seller in Japan. The product offer has broadened over the years. Working with Michel Roset, we have redefined our business plan by encouraging our partner to manufacture more products & to position themselves as an exclusive distributor. In ten years, the turnover has greatly increased : Ligne Roset Japan, which began by distributing through multi-brand stores, has now demonstrated its confidence in us by investing in exclusive stores, which was not previously its way of working. Having opened two stores in Tokyo, Ligne Roset Japan has just opened a third in the Ginza quarter (7 / 8 / 9), which has historically had a focus on luxury brands.

REPORTAGE

LIGNE ROSET, A WORLDWIDE INFLUENCE

Olivier Roset : In 1981, a Japanese bedding manufacturer approached us at the Salon du Meuble de Paris in the hope of diversifying their offer. Clearly, they saw Ligne Roset as the ideal partner since we share the same industrial language & our two companies both work with high-end foams, our shared area of expertise. My grandfather Jean Roset & my uncle Pierre therefore granted this manufacturer a licence authorising them to produce selected items from our collections in their factories: & thus Ligne Roset Japan was born.

7

Olivier Roset : Ligne Roset is appreciated for its creative products which fit so well into Japanese interiors, which are generally very traditional. This is even more true of the younger generation, who like our foam models very much. The resounding success of Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec’s Ploum settee is evidence of this, & then of course there are our cabinet items, such as those by Philippe Nigro. Is Ligne Roset Contracts also expanding there ? Olivier Roset : Our Contracts department has the wind in its sails in Japan, just as it does everywhere else its growth depending on the highly reactive capabilities of our industrial base, which is more than able to supply made-to-measure pieces, as well as items in large quantities. Many businesses are appreciative of our creativity & our designers are also prominent specifiers. Ligne Roset Japan is well positioned in terms of high-end bedding for the hotel industry. For our part, we know how to put together sample bedrooms speedily thanks to our experience with the great hotel groups

such as Accor Hotels, Marriott-Starwood, Hilton & les Chantiers de l’Atlantique. Our Contracts department accounts for 10 % of our activities, with the ultimate objective of making this 30 %. Is China the new El Dorado ? Olivier Roset : Ligne Roset has had a presence in China since 1990 & this zone has enjoyed good growth. We regularly take part in the furniture fairs in Shanghai & Peking & our products are sold in more than 25 exclusive stores (10, 11). Attracted by French quality, Chinese customers are young & are appreciative of our brand, which is considered to be a distinctive, statutory attribute. We now have a subsidiary in Shanghai with three Chinese-French sales representatives. In five years’ time, we plan to have around ten partners & around 50 stores. Such development is reminiscent of that seen in the USA by Pierre Roset when he opened the first subsidiary there in 1980 before handing on the baton to his son Antoine just 10 years or so ago. What was your mission, Antoine, when you arrived in New York in 2007 ? Antoine Roset : When Ligne Roset first came to the United States in the 1980s, few

manufacturers were in a position to meet the requirements of the prominent local partners who were hoping to develop the market for high-end European furniture there. Ligne Roset was canny enough to invest in this market straight away, opening up not only a subsidiary but also an effective organizational structure in terms of management & logistics. Its distributors felt supported & by 2000, we had no less than 25 outlets in that market. In 2007, my mission was to implement a new business plan. However, the financial crisis intervened not long afterwards & that put the brakes on our projects : now was not the time for us to expand, but rather to preserve our network of distributors. How did you react ? Antoine Roset : Our Group is very much a family & we are extremely attached to our distributors, whom we have supported as much as possible. The American market is not quite as reactive as one might imagine: just as wounds were healing in the east, it was California’s turn to be affected. Happily, other markets such as South America & Canada held up well. It took three whole years for things to return to an even keel! Only then was I able to resume

– 11 –

my mission, but when we were finally able to start over we did things differently & that is what is magical about the USA ! In what way has the crisis changed things ? Antoine Roset : The crisis enabled a large number of industries, our own included, to reinvent their distribution networks with the help of online sales. Little by little, the situation has stabilized & we have been able to find new investors & new display spaces, which in turn has enabled us to modernise & to digitize our networks & processes. Can Ligne Roset products be ordered online these days?

– 10 –

Antoine Roset : This is already the case in the USA, Germany, the UK & France. We have also put in place solutions which are specially adapted to each country : the American customer is less price-sensitive but wants things delivered tomorrow, so with this in mind we created QuickShip, four US distribution platforms which afford immediate access to a stock of selected best-sellers which can all be delivered within one week.

Are online sales looking promising ? Antoine Roset : This is an efficient service which relies on our network of outlets. When a customer places an order online they are immediately put into contact with the store which will be acting as a ‘relay station’ for the sale & which will have responsibility for managing that order. Even with online sales, human contact is sacrosanct. Where are your stores in the USA ? Antoine Roset : We have two in Manhattan & are also represented in Chicago, Boston, Miami & the West Coast, Los Angeles & San Francisco. In all, we have around 30 stores in the USA & 15 others if you include Latin America & Canada. What else have you been doing on the other side of the Atlantic ? Antoine Roset : In 2015, I introduced our Contracts department to the USA. The big, mostly American hotel groups were beginning to invest in the renovation of their establishments, working with interior architects & seeking quality manufacturers

to work with. Our distributors brought us to their attention & this was how we came to work with Max Flageollet on the development of Ligne Roset Contracts in the USA. And what kind of reception did this department receive ? Antoine Roset : We have had good projects right from the outset, such as part of the fitting-out of the Headquarters of Exxon Mobile in Calgary, Canada. We then developed our skills by producing office furniture for large companies, & worked on a number of restaurant projects, such as the one in the Saks Fifth Avenue department store. The American architects & their backers were captivated by the quality of our products & the flexibility of our digitized manufacturing base. We regularly invite them to visit us in the Ain region so they can discover for themselves our site, the meeting point of the twin spearheads of our creativity, the very latest technology & craftsmanship. In reality, we are continuing in the 21st Century the industrial adventure begun by our predecessors two centuries previously.

ESTIENNE DIDIER GOMEZ A great international classic by Didier Gomez. His incredible eye for detail & mastery of proportion have enabled him to create this settee, which is already part of the Ligne Roset DNA. Estienne marks the renewal of our ‘classic’ collection celebrating perfect proportions & quality materials. Ultra-flexible foam on the seat reinforced with black or écru cotton webbing & baguette stitching. Great comfort, taut lines & all this at a very good price. Elegant, rounded feather-filled armrest cushions & lumbars. Seat structure clad in a 'comfort layer' of ultra-flexible polyurethane foam brings a great capacity to offer perfect support to the body in all positions alongside a lasting ability to quickly regain its initial shape, thus guaranteeing longevity. Choice of 2 seat heights: 38 cm (with invisible feet) or 44 cm (brilliant-chromed or black lacquered steel 'bridge' base).

ANDY PIERRE PAULIN Andy is Ligne Roset’s re-edition of Pierre Paulin’s original ‘modèle CM 442’ from 1962. The combination of softer contours & a reduced number of buttons - thus avoiding the creation of severe squares of quilting - make this settee both timeless & elegant. The gloss or black chromed legs are a particularly precious refinement, being mounted inside the armrests to front and rear. Cover has baguette stitching on the structure & armrests; seat cushions are quilted with 4 buttons whilst back cushions have two. Optional cushion has no baguette stitching & is not buttoned. Lines of all cushions highlighted by piping. Originally intended to be upholstered in leather, Andy also offers excellent results when upholstered in fabrics, particularly those with a good feel & an ennobling effect.

PAIPAÏ LUCIDIPEVERE Païpaï is its creators' first collection of upholstered seating for Ligne Roset. It is a project which unfolded from a simple gesture : folding a piece of paper origami-like to create a closed shape. Thus from a flat surface they have brought forth simple fold lines ; first the one which separates the back from the seat, then the more obvious one for the armrests. The two extremities of the back are folded towards the structure to which they are fixed & thus a visibly comfortable cocoon seat is born. The folds mark the foam, shaping its contours & giving emphasis to the armrests, thus creating the identity of the settee, which was named after the Pai-Pai fan which itself has a characteristic rounded shape. Païpaï was designed to offer the best possible seat comfort thanks to the height of the back & the judicious use of high-performance foams. Elastic-webbed suspenion on seat & back. Matt black steel base.

L'IMPRÉVU MARIE CHRISTINE DORNER L'Imprévu is a settee which offers various depths & individual, adjustable backrests of various heights. This diversity of dimensions enables one to easily create ‘conversation’ corner groups, most notably when two settees are set at an angle to each other. When pushed together & linked they offer a sleep area of 160 x 200 cm. This capacity to suit all kinds of situations is unique. The settee is a landscape with a strong character, with its seat, backrests, cushions ; it is possible to use different covering materials for each of these, which again reinforces its multiplicity of character. ‘Sleigh’ base in matt black or chromed steel. Two foot heights : the low foot has a height of 90 mm; the high foot has a height of 130 mm. May be upholstered in up to 4 covering materials/colours (i.e. a different one for the seat, backrests, large chevron-quilted back cushion & small back cushion).

Moël’s generous comfort, soft curves & unique appearance will appeal to lovers of an informal, relaxed lifestyle, who want to welcome guests in the most convivial way possible. Rear of back, in the shape of the corolla of a flower, can be made up in Kyoto or Oregon hide, or Divina or Coda fabrics. Decorative rear feet covered to match frame. EXCLUSIF DIDIER GOMEZ

RUCHÉ INGA SEMPÉ

In the words of its creator, Exclusif is “a classic design, elegant & comfortable, international & timeless”. With only a handful of elements, it is possible to create a wealth of different settees & corner compositions with a choice of two possible types of armrest – a low, wide version & a narrower, higher version. Armrests of type A may be used either at the end of a settee or run, or in a corner of a corner composition.

Ruché brings together the unusual & the traditional, combining a solid wood structure with intricate quilting. Slender & fine, Ruché is nonetheless soft & inviting, allying comfort & compactness, thus rendering it ideal for smaller apartments. Its seat height, too, will appeal to a broad clientèle, not least those who utterly reject seats which are too low. Covers are removable. Most plain covering materials can be used with Ruché: velours, wools, thick cloths, microfibres & leathers. In 2014, Inga Sempé completed the Ruché range with an armchair with asymmetrical arms. This is more than just a stylistic effect since the high armrest with its elastic-webbed suspension enables one to lean back comfortably then hook one’s legs over the other low armrest.

NOMADE 2 DIDIER GOMEZ

EXCLUSIF 2 DIDIER GOMEZ

FACETT RONAN & ERWAN BOUROULLEC

A new version of the well-known model Exclusif: with its low-slung metal frame it shares the clean, elegant style of the existing model. Choice of 2 finishes for the metal frame: either brilliant-chromed or black-chromed. Choice of 2 armrest types: a slimmer, higher version (type A) & a broader, lower one (type B). The comfort is intentionally soft & light, underpinned by the various backrests, armrests & lumbar cushions. Seams of back cushions are highlighted with piping. Please note that this version cannot currently be used to create compositions (e.g. corner groups).

Compact dimensions, a high level of comfort & strikingly unusual looks are all hallmarks of this distinctive model. Items may be made up in a selection of fabrics from the Ligne Roset range, with toning or contrasting stitching (ecru, anthracite, grey, red or blue). Each cover requires hundreds of metres of stitching (210 m for the large settee, using 700 m of thread). Covers are quilted in 5 cm bands & may be removed for dry cleaning.

ENKI EVANGELOS VASILEIOU

PLOUM RONAN & ERWAN BOUROULLEC

If Enki states its classic credentials unambiguously, it is no less shy of displaying the aesthetic characteristics which are the essence of its personality. Its structure rests on a continuous base which runs beneath the seat cushions & along the entire length of the back, creating a line which visually separates the back into two superposed sections. This base, which supports the entirety of the seat, is itself supported by slim tubular steel legs Ø 20 mm finished in matt black lacquer. Then there is a further line drawn along the lower section of the seat cushions by the original presence of 8 mm bourrelet stitching; this effect is echoed around the perimeter of the back cushions, contrasting with the baguette stitching used for the other areas of the seating. To make it possible to tailor both looks & comfort, there is a choice between 2 leg heights (10 cm or 13 cm), giving a seat height of either 41 cm or 44 cm, & a choice of 2 heights for the back cushions (high version 40 cm; low version 25 cm).

In 2014, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec wanted to expand the Ploum family, which initially comprised just a large and medium settee. Taking into account the rise in property prices which necessarily reduces the available space in today’s homes, they first decided to add a small settee to the Ploum range. The fact remained, though, that the generous proportions of the original settees could simply be too overpowering in a small apartment: this is why, whilst preserving the comfort, they also developed two new low-backed settees, completely reworking their original dimensions. Thus the Ploum settees, in either the original or the low-backed version, are now able to integrate into any living space. A footstool, oval & as smooth as a pebble on a Breton beach, completes the range.

TOGO MICHEL DUCAROY

MCD MARIE CHRISTINE DORNER

Designed for an easy, carefree way of life, Togo has been a best-seller ever since its launch in the early Seventies. The first all-foam settee, Togo combines five different densities of foam for maximum comfort. Covers are generously quilted with polyester material & may be removed by an upholsterer for dry cleaning. The wide choice of covering materials helps Togo remain just as contemporary today as it always has been. Shown left: large settee, the perfect place to relax.

An elegant model combining a basic architectural shape on the exterior with a soft, comfortable interior, MCD is a classic with a current twist: after all, city-dwellers need to snuggle up too. A subtle association of fabrics marks the frontier between exterior & interior: texture for the former, softness for the latter. Legs in natural or anthracite-stained solid beech or in black lacquered steel. Individual elastic-webbed suspension on each seat section. Cover has stitched square motif on the exterior & decorative cross-shaped stitching on the interior. Covers may be removed by an upholsterer.

CONFLUENCES PHILIPPE NIGRO

SMALA PASCAL MOURGUE

A trailblazer in terms of the trend for ‘counterforms’, Confluences is characterized by its interwoven yin-yang or puzzle-type effect. Each item is offered in a monocolour or bicolour interpretation using Indiana, Diva or Nubu hide, or Arti, Divina, Coda, Curl, Pica, Forest Nap or Galice fabrics. With the bicolour interpretation, colours may be selected from a choice of combinations specified by the designer. Other colour permutations, or the choice of another colour from the same fabric family, are also possible. In the case of the arm & lumbar cushions, any covering material may be chosen. Lumbar cushion is filled with pure duck down. Removable covers.

Impressive looks, generous proportions, clean lines & well-defined ground clearance are the hallmarks of this unique model: small wonder that it is now numbered amongst our classics. Back & armrests may be positioned at any one of three levels (NB don’t sit on the arms when in raised position!). The settee may be used as a day or guest bed & a fitted sheet may be ordered for this purpose.

MANAROLA PHILIPPE NIGRO

BONNIE PIERRE PAULIN

Here, Philippe Nigro has managed to design a new type of seating which combines remarkable comfort with very welcoming looks, reinventing the extreme comfort of the Ligne Roset allfoam seating of the Seventies to bring us a metal-framed foam core set on elegant solid wood buttresses which serve as a base whilst offering support to the back. Manarola was always going to be comfortable thanks to the ergonomics of its seat, lumbar and head sections, but the use of new, ultra-flexible polyurethane foams takes that comfort to a whole new level. Legs in natural or black-stained solid beech, available in a choice of two heights. Cover quilted with polyester, with twin needle stitch detailing. Wide choice of covering materials; cover may be removed by an upholsterer.

A reissue of Pierre Paulin's original seat from 1975. Ligne Roset was able to work on the reissue of Bonnie using a real collector’s item, one of only a few very rare examples in existence. Great care has been taken to offer an experience of complete comfort whilst remaining as true as possible to the original design, given that the size of the 'average' person has increased since the 1970s. The use of both Bultex & a comfort layer of ultra-flexible foam result in remarkable, lasting comfort which is further optimized by the use of stretch jersey covering materials. Aditionally, today's public has the choice of two versions, tailored to the era: one with plain upholstery (for more stretchy fabrics) & one in a quilted, pleated & buttoned version (for firmer comfort). .

PUMPKIN PIERRE PAULIN

LONG ISLAND N. NASRALLAH & C. HORNER

Pumpkin is characteristic of the revolutionary style of Pierre Paulin, as initiated at the end of the 1950’s. He effectively liberated the design of seating by treating each piece as a unique volume, more or less sculpted from foam & not necessarily resting on four feet: an approach which brought extraordinary freedom in terms of form, liberating seating as it did from traditional methods of assembly & orthogonal lines. As its name suggests Pumpkin is evocative of a giant pumpkin, welcoming the user with its protectively voluptuous – & voluptuously protective – shell. Resisting its appeal is an impossibility!

Long Island already brings together exemplary comfort, remarkable elegance & a wide choice of covering materials & colours. This year, the Long Island family expands with the addition of a 2-seat settee to complement the existing armchair & footstool. Remaining faithful to the original lines & comfort of the armchair, the new settee invites one to sit back & dream.

RIGA ERIC JOURDAN

OTTOMAN NOÉ DUCHAUFOUR-LAWRANCE

However comfortable it may be, the traditional armchair generally has a rather stiff, static air. Eric Jourdan’s challenge was to soften its lines, breathing life & dynamism into them. By treating the exterior shell as a shroud, a living skin which envelops the seat & back cushions, he delivers a rejuvenated, pared-down version with free, sensual lines. All the expertise of Ligne Roset was required to bring this project to life, particularly in terms of the finesse & fluidity of the curved lines of its exterior shell, a small technical miracle made possible by a mechanicallysoldered metal structure clad in injected polyurethane foam. Legs in a choice of matt black or brilliant-chromed square-section steel; or there is the alternative of a tubular steel base Ø 20 mm in matt black lacquer or brilliant chrome.

We were captivated by the oriental charm of this piece, filled with ‘zenitude’, comfort & wellbeing. Covers may be removed by a professional & are held in place by lacings at the junction of seat & back & gripper strips on the underside. Available in a monocolour or bicolour interpretation, with different fabrics on the interior (seat) & exterior sections. Stitching is in toning thread (NB in the case of a bicolour interpretation, the thread colour will be matched to the colour of each section).

AMÉDÉE MARIE CHRISTINE DORNER

PLUMY ANNIE HIÉRONIMUS

Amédée is a settee & armchair combination, designed around a lumbar support which is quilted & stitched just like the bucket seats of the best Italian motor cars. The armchair may be rotating & there is also a footstool for when it’s time to relax. Chic, urban & thus compact, this family of seating acquires undeniable luxury object status when upholstered in the new full grain, pure aniline Orga leather, with its slightly smooth, glossy finish – a real stand-out amongst the 800 possible covering materials in the Ligne Roset collection.

In 2016, Ligne Roset reissued one of its iconic bestsellers: Plumy, a byword for unusual comfort which demonstrates the depth of the brand’s expertise in the field of all-foam seating. New-generation foams make Plumy more comfortable and durable than ever before, an unconventional, uncomplicated model for our times. When used with the footstool, the folding seat cushions encourage a range of very relaxed sitting and lying positions. The treatment of the cover is intentionally casual, falling in folds. Available in ‘all fabric’ or ‘all leather’ versions, or in fabric or leather with the inside of the seat and back cushions covered in cloth.

COVER 1 MARIE CHRISTINE DORNER

SINTRA NOÉ DUCHAUFOUR-LAWRANCE

The name Cover is just as evocative of concept as it is of function. The model's comfort & sensuality mask brazen simplicity of use : its cover can be removed in a matter of seconds, making maintenance almost a pleasure. Cover is available in 2 versions which share a common structure: with neither metal nor wood, they are entirely constructed from foam of varying densities. The designer's original idea was to explore the possibilities of a second generation automated sewing robot by sketching out a progressive geometric design from the seat towards the edges.

Sintra sits on a sophisticated shaped solid oak base (natural or anthracite-stained). A settee of such a generous width would normally require a central supporting leg, but a hidden reinforcing crossmember does the job instead, preventing the settee's lines from being disrupted. In this way Sintra, although firmly anchored to the ground, still manages to remain airy. Its integral seat offers a vast space in which to relax, further amplified by its double hammer-head shaped cut whilst a clever central seam brings a visual suggestion of welcome whilst maintaining the tension of the covering material. The goose feather-filled back cushions bring the final touch of comfort to a settee which allies rigour with softness like no other. Back cushions in a choice of 2 heights.

COSSE PHILIPPE NIGRO

PRADO CHRISTIAN WERNER

Comfort is a sensation. As with all sensations any description will be subjective, but is it not an impression of lightness, such as when a body is liberated from its own weight in the water? Comfort, therefore, was the inspiration for the Cosse settee, along with Ligne Roset’s mastery of the constraints of series production; hand in hand with optimized technology & materials, such expertise is put to good use producing freely-flowing shapes such as the softly welcoming contours of the settee. The remarkable comfort of the seat, achieved thanks to its elastic-webbed suspension, contributes to this feeling of comfort & lightness. One will also note such little details as the meandering armrest or the extreme slimness of the solid wood feet.

Here the design process was guided by the search for freedom & wellbeing. Aesthetics aside, Prado represents first & foremost an approach based on the study of lifestyles, or in short, the human being. Prado consists of a vast seat which may be used either independently or with other elements, on which back cushions may be scattered at will. There is total freedom since these cushions, which are weighted & equipped with an anti-slip system, will remain in place without needing to be leant against or attached to anything: they could therefore be arranged on the floor for a few leisurely moments around a low table, whilst the seat could do duty as an occasional bed simply by turning over its seat cushion, the reverse of which is covered with mattress ticking.

DO NOT DISTURB

Nomade Express is a daily-use bed-settee of deliberately understated elegance. Well-proportioned with moulded aluminium feet & traditional, mattress-style buttoned cushions, it evokes the timeless style of the 1930s. Simply release the mechanism to bring the back down flat, then turn over the mattress to create a bed of sleep area 140 x 200 cm (thickness 16 cm); the mattress is covered in an exclusive 100% cotton piqué, which has been anti-bacterially & fungicidally treated & may be unzipped & removed for cleaning. Lumbar cushion covers are buttoned in place & conceal the pillows for the bed. Feet in moulded lacquered Epoxy aluminium.

The bed-settee market is a varied one to say the least. With Do Not Disturb, Ligne Roset takes up position, simply & squarely, in the highest possible sphere, combining quality of manufacture with a quality sleep platform. The top-of-the-range Lampolet mechanism comes in two versions, either manually-operated or motorized (with twin motors for improved longevity): in both cases only minimal effort is required since the cushions remain in place on the base once the latter is unfolded. Not surprisingly, any covering material from the Ligne Roset collection may be used on this generously-proportioned yet compact model, the classic bourgeois style of which will enable it to fit comfortably into your home & into your everyday life.

BERLIN LOFT MÜLLER WULFF

Designed for everyday use, Multy’s simple-to-operate mechanism & slatted base make the transformation from settee to bed a breeze. Perfect for homes where space is at a premium, versatile Multy can be used as a settee, as a chaise longue with the seat pulled forward & of course as a bed. Why not complement your Multy with a pair of lumbar cushions (either matching or in a contrasting colour/fabric), upholstered arms (ditto), table surfaces &/or a fitted Ready-to-Sleep envelope sheet. Shown left with two upholstered arms & two lumbars; shown right with one table surface & two lumbars.

Berlin Loft is a bed-settee which its designers define as ‘trendy’ & ‘casual’. Like its namesake, the city of Berlin, it is simple, unabashed, practical & modern. The settee becomes the centre of our space, the platform for our lives, & the very expression of casual elegance. The initial thought was based around the hammock chair, the deckchair, a chair which floats, is pliable & which issues an invitation to comfort & laziness. The depth of the seat enables one to relax in comfort, like an invitation to rest. Many cushions may be scattered on top for use as armrests, lumbars or back cushions. There is even sufficient place for one’s favourite pillow. The rear section may be easily manipulated to find one’s preferred angle of inclination between upright & the horizontal bed position.

In 2014, Inga Sempé completed the Ruché range with an armchair with asymmetrical arms. This is more than just a stylistic effect since the high armrest with its elastic-webbed suspension enables one to lean back comfortably then hook one’s legs over the other low armrest.

A timeless, elegant armchair with chromed or gloss black chromed legs which are mounted inside the armrests to front and rear. Seat cushion quilted with 4 buttons; back cushion quilted with 2 buttons. Optional cushion with no baguette stitching or buttons. Lines of all cushions highlighted by piping. A complement to the successful Villa Rose collection, combining classic distinction & highly contemporary design details. An armchair in black-stained solid ash, with an optional seat cushion for a touch of warmth & additional comfort.

Chic, urban & thus compact, this armchair acquires undeniable luxury object status when upholstered in the new full grain, pure aniline Orga leather, with its slightly smooth, glossy finish – a real stand-out amongst the 800 possible covering materials in the Ligne Roset collection.

The modern design of the Humphrey armchair asserts its place in time with efficiency & economy of means. The two massive volumes of the seat float in the air, suspended from a slim, elegant structure, a gesture like the pen-stroke of a calligrapher. With the addition of a footrest, the armchair becomes a chaise longue.

An attractive fireside chair with ‘sleigh’ base in brilliant-chromed steel wire. Seat/back upholstered in synderme, natural cowhide or felt. The chromed zip behind the back section & beneath the seat platform is not only a design feature but also practical, making it easier to remove the cover. Also available covered in synderme (not shown).

GRILLAGE FRANÇOIS AZAMBOURG

The principle for creating the basic shape of Grillage is very simple: a sheet of metal with staggered grooves is folded, origami-style, & then drawn to create a mesh. May be dressed with an optional seat cushion in Mood, Charm, Oxford, Revive or Tempête fabric for added comfort. Grillage is available in Epoxy black lacquer. Tubular steel feet.

Attentive to the everyday & sensitive to the look & feel of the Fifties, Numéro 111’s designers appreciate curved forms & bevelled edges, often basing their creations on the confrontation between different materials, the opposition of fullness & emptiness. Building on the success of the Clyde low table, they now bring us two new items of storage, a bookcase & low unit, with brass-coated or black lacquered tubular steel structures & shelves in a combination of black-stained oak veneer (upper shelves) & gloss black marble-effect ceramic stoneware (lower shelf only). There is also the option of adding back panels in perforated steel (several styles) or in fabric-covered MDF (Steelcut trio 3 – choice of 53 colours).

A perfect example of the trend for brass-plated, copper-plated & gilded pieces, Dita’s square tubular frame (15x15mm) in bronze anodised aluminium expresses a level of refinement which is not only current, but also luxurious & discreet. This effect is further emphasised by the sobriety of its 6 shelves in a choice of grey smoked glass, walnut veneer or a choice of lacquer colours with the top of the uppermost shelf finished in anthracite lacquer. Versatile by reason of its size & freestanding nature, it will work just as well in a hallway or office as it will in a bedroom or living room.

LA BIBLIOTHÈQUE FIL PIERRE PAULIN

STORAGE

Pierre Paulin designed this shelving unit in 1972 for the loft apartment in the rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine in which he was living at the time. Minimalist in design, it marries the black or white lacquer of its steel wire structure (Ø 10 mm) with shelves in 8 mm thick birch multi-ply finished in black, white or chocolate-coloured laminate with wood edging. Constructed around 70 cm wide modules, two or more units may be juxtaposed with the addition of linking-pieces which transform them into complete modules (structure + shelves). Certain shelves are notched to accommodate the vertical uprights of the structure. The shelves rest on small steel wire supports soldered onto the uprights. Unit may be levelled as necessary using its adjustable jack feet. Internal dimensions of each section : H 38 W 33.3 D 33.

A clearly-constructed, innovative range of furniture which will adapt to suit many different types of room. From only a few easily combinable elements, a large number of flexible solutions may be created – from storage units with closed fronts to simple stand-alone pieces. A repetition of uprights & shelves, becoming smaller from left to right and from bottom to top, the volume of this shelving unit appears to reduce as if disappearing towards the ceiling. This effect creates a range of unexpected, interesting storage possibilities. Available with side panels in white lacquer*; & shelves in white lacquer*, or in smoked oak or walnut veneer. Canaletto responds perfectly to the contemporary requirements of a modular system, offering solutions for hi-fi & storage, plus shelving & a sideboard. Items are created by juxtaposing elements: once the structure is defined it can then be completed in a number of ways, e.g. shelving in the lower section with a door above, or full-height shelving, or a completely enclosed space. ET CETERA PAGNON & PELHAÎTRE

STORAGE

An extremely flexible range of storage further enriched by the additional functions of an occasional unit: storage (opaque or glass doors, shelves, drawers), TV equipment & lighting. The name Et Cetera refers to the possibilty of making additions in terms of both its height & width, tailoring it perfectly to your particular space. The very elegance of Et Cetera stems from rigorous aesthetic choices in terms of both volumes & finishes: an example of this being the lightness of the overall structure, with its slim side panels & shelves which offer the perfect compromise between reassuring thickness & the desired visual lightness. The storage surfaces in the open niches, offered in a variety of widths, are both original & functional, creating as they do an interesting graphic emphasis with a play on linear repetition. Et Cetera is available in a choice of finishes, with structures always in satin lacquer (choice of white, argile or elephant); fronts are either lacquered or enriched with veneer, the chosen species of which – oak – is itself offered in natural or black, in a choice of two ‘looks’, smooth-grained or sawn-effect. A special double-sided shelving unit is also on offer – this piece is very useful as a room divider.

A collection of furniture based on two strong principles: simplicity & elegance. Since each element of the collection is complete in itself, nothing could be simpler than putting together a piece of Book&Look: all this entails is to superimpose & juxtapose the required number of elements, as if playing with building blocks. Book&Look fulfils 3 functions, namely storage, multimedia (TV element) & shelving; it is offered in a range of lacquer finishes or natural walnut veneer (certain elements only); modules are offered in units of 35cm, in a choice of 3 depths: 45 (storage chest), 55 (TV platform) & 28 (shelving unit). The flexibility with which the various elements may be associated enables the creation of a wide variety of pieces of furniture, from broad-width one-piece items to unstructured compositions in a combination of heights & depths, to sideboards, multimedia items & ultra-low minimalist compositions.

ESTAMPE NOÉ DUCHAUFOUR LAWRANCE

STORAGE

Combining elegance, sobriety & finishing details, Estampe is characterized by fronts & sides in sawn oak, doors & drawers with slimmed-down edges & rounded corners & an upper fixed top covered in pebble-coloured linoleum (thickness 2 mm) which seems to float in a solid frame, bringing a certain movement to the overall piece. Available in natural-finish, argile-stained or anthracite-stained sawn oak veneer. Doors & drawers are ‘push-to-open’, with nickel-plated fittings. Because of the very specific shape of this model, the outer doors of the sideboards open in an unusual manner, with the hinges located on the internal panels rather than on the end panels. Also available: square or rectangular occasional table H 35 & sofa end table H 50. These also have linoleum-covered tops, with lower surfaces in sawn oak veneer. The type of linoleum selected is of 'desktop quality' and therefore specially formulated for use on desks or low tables. The fact that it is used as a floor covering is in itself a gauge of its resistance, durability & ease of maintenance.

CUTS PHILIPPE NIGRO

An unstructured shelving unit with sloping shelves & interior panels, offering storage space of unequal volumes; optional indirect LED lighting may be located vertically behind each side of the front of the frame. Structure in panels of MDF, with 25 mm thick shelves & interior panels, in white satin-finish lacquer. The Lines sideboard boasts the same oblique lines, this time indented to emphasize the glossiness of the gloss white lacquered finish. Structure in panels of particleboard, combined with either a solid base or brilliant-chromed steel underframe. Drawers are equipped with an internal drawer, with DVDs being stored in the main drawer.

Range of storage composed of individual storage modules, each of which is a double-sided parallelepiped with an irregular, canted shape & a maximum depth of 40; that said the depth at each end is identical, making it possible to stack &/or juxtapose multiple modules to obtain the desired configuration. Interestingly these irregularly shaped modules can be multiplied by 4 by simple rotation: by turning each module first one way & then another, one can obtain 4 chests, each notched in totally different ways. Modules are made from satin white, argile, moutarde or elephant lacquered MDF, or solid American walnut; differently-finished modules may be mixed within a single configuration.

POSTMODERNE ERIC JOURDAN

STORAGE

This year the Postmoderne range is being substantially extended with the addition of several new products. The challenge here is to sustain this sophistication in a more pared-down design, with the focus on balanced proportions, discreetness of assembly & a desire to be timeless. The stakes are high, with the economy of the design necessitating greater manufacturing quality than ever before. New for 2019: a new walnut veneer of very high quality, in which the grain of the wood can be seen. All items in the collection are delivered ready-assembled. Drawers have push-catch mechanisms. In the case of the display unit the base covers are in walnut & are magnetic for a perfect fit & for cleaner, sharper closing. Legs of all new items are finished in anthracite lacquer. BENDCHAIR PETER MALY

A reproduction of an original Pierre Paulin design from the 1950’s. The visual fluidity & sculptural freedom of line are as potent today as they were in 1954. Base in natural ash, greystained ash & cherry- stained ash; Pullmaflex suspension on seat; fabric covers are held in place by gripper strips, & are removable.

A reproduction of an original Pierre Paulin design from the 1950’s. The visual fluidity & sculptural freedom of line are as potent today as they were in 1954. Base in satin-finish black lacquer or brilliant chrome; Pullmaflex suspension on seat; fabric covers are held in place by gripper strips, & are removable.

In the designer's words this is, “A chair of perfect proportions.” It is a score of perfectly harmonious chords, which chimes perfectly with a very broad register of furniture, tables & sideboards. Its proportions are irreproachable, as is the quality of its finish. Shown here with wooden base (choice of natural or black-stained beech).

The perfectly-proportioned Bendchair is shown here on a base made from metal wire, finished in either matt black lacquer as shown, or in brilliant chrome.

Alongside our collection of beds we offer a range of accessories – developed in partnership with the foremost European manufacturers – to enable you to tailor your sleep experience to your individual requirements. Sleep well!

SLATTED BASES LIGNE ROSET Slatted bases are offered with double slats & articulated supports. Despite their minimal height of just 6.5 cm, they are more than equal to any requirement which might reasonably be expected of a highquality product: solid beech frame, with highly-elastic double slats in beech multi-ply mounted on flexible articulated supports; variable depth support system at back & shoulder level (particularly important for those who sleep on their sides as it promotes good circulation); adjustable central zone affording the opportunity to perfectly adapt the base to suit the body weight of the sleeper, with denser distribution of slats at pressure points.

PETER MALY 2 PETER MALY

DESDEMONE N. NASRALLAH & C. HORNER

DESDEMONE N. NASRALLAH & C. HORNER

A new edition of a bed which has been a Ligne Roset bestseller for more than 2 decades. Aimed squarely at those whose priorities for their beds are comfort, originality & aesthetics, preferring a pared-down bedroom offering generous space for rest & relaxation, this bed is constructed around the idea of a vast, soft & supple central platform surrounded by horizontal planes for a more tautly rigorous geometric effect. The pillow/headboard cushions slide freely around the frame, allowing for a multitude of positions since there is no fixed way for the bed to be used. Cylindrical steel feet with circular base plate, finished in matt black lacquer with a choice of 2 foot heights.

The designers’ aim was to widen the scope of the bed in terms of both its function & its use. The shell-like, comfortably upholstered headboard is an invitation to read, to watch TV or even write. The impression of continuity between headboard & base confers great visual lightness, even in the case of the version with the high headboard. Desdémone beautifully reflects the trend for a variety of uses, unencumbered by objects. In a way, the bed becomes the centre of the universe.

Wooden legs in natural or anthracite-stained solid beech. Metal legs in black lacquered steel tubing Ø 4 cm. Any type of slatted base may be used (NB sold separately). Cover may be removed by an upholsterer.

MATTRESSES LIGNE ROSET

Available for the following sleep areas: 90 x 200, 120 x 200, 140 x 200 (1 part); 160 x 200 (1 or 2 part), 180 x 200 (1 or 2 part)

Bultex / Viscoelastic Foam (Sensus) Core in Bultex foam, overlaid on one side with a layer of viscoelastic ‘memory’ foam which moulds perfectly to the shape of the body whilst minimising the effect on the body & circulation. Ticking in ecru-coloured 100% cotton, treated with ‘Healthguard’ (antibacterial, fungicidal). The dimensions of these mattresses (thickness 20 cm) make them more suited to ‘Scandinavian-style’ sleeping rather than more traditional, divan-style beds. Available for the following sleep areas: 160 x 200, 180 x 200 (1 part)

ANNA CHRISTIAN WERNER

ULTIME PHILIPPE NIGRO

TRAVEL STUDIO PAGNON & PELHAÎTRE

Anna is a warm, inviting upholstered bed with a ‘tailored’ look. Detachable headboard with ‘point-de-cheval’ stitch detailing on the cover: stitching may be toning, to match the cover, or in a choice of five thread colours: ecru, anthracite, gris, rouge, bleu. A slipover back cover may also be ordered if desired. To align the mattress with the bed-frame, this model has an integral slatted base: when selecting a mattress we strongly recommend that a sprung version be ordered with this bed rather than a thinner Bultex version so as not to spoil its line. Both bed & headboard have fully removable covers. Anna is designed to stand alone, but may of course be complemented by the Everywhere range of bedroom furniture or indeed any item from the Ligne Roset collection.

Ultime is very welcoming in appearance & instantly evocative of great comfort. The generosity of the headboard, padded with foam & quilted with polyester, is emphasised by a band of horizontal stitching, its periphery sketching out a soft curve which extends along the lines of the upholstered bed frame. Viewed in profile, the slender line of the headboard is no less remarkably light & dynamic thanks to its spindle shape, like a flame arching towards the heavens. The Ultime bed successfully achieves the feat of being generous, soft, welcoming & very comfortable, whilst giving an extreme impression of lightness : like going to sleep on a cloud each night !

Specifically designed for the bedrooms of young people, Travel Studio is the perfect foil to the existing Travel collection. When placed against a wall & with the addition of a throw & cushions, it will also serve as a day bed. Shown above: nesting beds – a main sleep platform of dimensions 120 x 200, with either a storage compartment or pull-out bed beneath. Finished in white laminate.

A striking range of lights with small shades made from semi-transparent borosilicate glass. The designer’s intention, to project light in 2 opposite directions onto each face of a reflective screen, translates into a minimalist piece. 2 small projector tubes on a very slim stem reflect the light onto both sides of a disc-shaped white lacquered metal reflector. Base & stem finished in ‘plomb’ (leadcoloured) lacquer.

Turned natural solid beech & mouth-blown white opal glass come together in these high-quality lights. On closer inspection it becomes clear that the shade can also be set slightly wonky, as if it has been blown askew by the wind. White PVC cable with foot switch.

This floor lamp is clearly Fifties-inspired. A high-quality light with a focus on quality of materials, with a shade in mouth-blown opal glass, base in grey Tuscan (Pietra Serena) stone & stem (Ø 21 mm) in brushed stainless steel. Anthracite textile cable & black foot switch.

A glimpse of the 70s & 80s, as much in terms of its use of white perforated steel & its stylised mushroom shape. Table lamp with stem & shade constructed from two white lacquered perforated steel cylinders. The upper section of the cylinder-stem has an anti-glare dome in repoussé steel. Epoxy white lacquer finish. White electric cable. Manual switch.

The name evokes the shape & colour of the half-spherical shade: this is either artistically rusted then waxed, making each light unique, or in blue patinated steel. Interior is white lacquered in both cases. The light is held up by a taut steel cable & supplied by a black flex. The light source is invisible since the ring of LEDs is concealed beneath a small white lacquered steel dome.

Hand tufted woollen rug with stylised palm trees depicted in pointillist fashion, coloured with fresh, mainly pastel shades. The designer seems to use a graphic language inspired by the various needle stitching points, a little as if she had ‘embroidered with felt pens’. Palms & trunks thus melt into a figurative, poetic abstraction, marked by softness & false naïveté.

FABRICS, LEATHER, ADVICE: WE’RE HERE TO HELP Bring your imagination to life! Ligne Roset offers a wide choice of upholstery materials, enabling you to really personalise your living space. The possibilities are endless: more than 500 different permutations of fabrics, colours & qualities; a wealth of choice in terms of look, style, light resistance, durability & ease of maintenance… cottons, jacquards, velours, wools & microfibres in a multitude of colours, both muted & bright: all carefully selected & rigorously tested by Ligne Roset. Not forgetting, of course, leather, made from the highest-grade hides from European cattle. Your Ligne Roset stockist will be delighted to help you choose exactly the right covering material & will also offer advice on aftercare, elaborating on any particular care requirements your chosen covering material might have: this is of particular importance if you have children or pets, or other specific issues

with regard to lighting conditions or usage. It’s worth considering too that Ligne Roset furniture offers a pleasantly soft sit & cannot therefore be too tightly upholstered. This naturally means that some creasing may become apparent with use: this will vary from model to model but is perfectly normal & is part of the character of each piece. To enable your Ligne Roset upholstery to give you years of faithful service, we strongly advise you to take note of the care instructions supplied with each model. They contain many hints & tips on day-to-day care, including advice on stain removal & general cleaning. If you are in doubt on any point, your Ligne Roset stockist will be only too happy to answer any questions you may have.

OUR AIM: YOUR TOTAL SATISFACTION – A CONVINCING OFFER, WITH THE SERVICE TO MATCH.

INNOVATION

COMPETENT ADVICE

At Ligne Roset, innovation is our tradition. As a pioneer & critical observer of societal change, Ligne Roset is continually forging new paths, collaborating with both prominent designers & new young talent from all over the world. Whether ground-breakingly innovative or just plain elegant, each & every one of our designers’ creations will last for decades – & their appeal will be timeless.

Your sales advisor will help you find the best possible solution for your living space, to perfectly suit both your taste & your requirements – selecting them from our broad collections of upholstery, tables, chairs, sideboards, beds, storage furniture, lighting & accessories.

THE EXPERIENCE OF A MARKETLEADING BRAND

A COMPLETE SERVICE

For Ligne Roset, contemporary design means quality, continual technical innovation & longevity. Every one of our pieces is the product of more than a century’s worth of conscientiousness & expertise. Since 1860, most Ligne Roset furniture has been produced in our factories near Lyon, France – then, as now, with the help of the latest production methods. Even so, we cannot & will not replace one vital element: handwork. So it isn’t just the design which makes each Ligne Roset piece completely individual & unique!

Your Ligne Roset stockist will deliver, assemble & check your furniture, & in most cases dispose of the packaging. He will advise on how best to take care of your new furniture, but please also take time to read the care instructions which are supplied with it. And it doesn’t just end there: whether you need to clean or replace your covers, replace a part or buy something new, you can always count on Ligne Roset, wherever you happen to be in the world.
